They actually rose their prices for Cyber Monday. All of the items I've been adding to my cart increased in pricing by about 8%. Ridiculous
I was in the market for two bathroom vanities. Given that I was buying online and knew I'd have to deal with delivery inspection and possible return if damaged, I decided to buy both from one place. I chose overstock because they had the vanity I wanted for my master bath priced $400 less than other sites. The second vanity they didn't have in the color I wanted, but I figured I would compromise a bit.
Order placed on Friday. On Saturday, I got a notice that one vanity shipped. I logged in to see What happened to the master bathroom vanity and saw that it was cancelled!
I called Overstock and a customer service rep told me that they made a mistake and while it said that they had 4 vanities in stock, they actually had none. So their policy was to cancel just that part of my order, without ANY notification to me. I told the customer service rep to cancel the rest of the order. He assured me he would do so first thing Monday, since no one was available on the warehouse side to do that over the weekend (funny, considering that I had just got a notice from their system advising me that they shipped my order on a Saturday...)
So I was angry, but he promised to cancel the order. So at least I didn't have to worry about that...
I tweeted out my disappointment and some online marketing guy from Overstock reached out to me all concerned about my experience. I explained what happened and asked him to double-check that the order was fully cancelled Monday, at the very first opportunity.
At 8 pm today (Monday) he emailed me to say Ithat the vanity was on the way to me and I would have to reject the vanity delivery when it comes. Oh, and get this, they would be charging me to ship the vanity back with the freight fee "unknown at this time"!
Does anyone believe that 1) they didn't know how much inventory they have, considering all of their orders are electronic? Or 2) that overstock could not contact their own warehouse or their own distributor to stop a shipment?!?!
But hey, they were all very polite and even told me they think of me as their family. Unreal.
Anyone who gave overstock a good review has to work there or must have some interest in that company, first time i ordered an item it took them 2 months to get it delivered, second time i order an item for over $2000. 00 never got any email confirmations or any phone calls, i got my credit card statement and the charge was there, i reached out to them on why i have not gotten any emails but my card has been charged, they said they had a problem charging my card yet on my statement the charge was clearly there and if there was a problem why wouldnt you call the number i provided or email me with the concerns like any other internet company would so we may address the problem, instead they tell me on a live chat to call there loss prevention dept for what was my concern loss prevention deals with thieves and fraud, i should have learned my lesson the first time now i have a canceled order that has been charged to my credit card and never received any costumer service at all. STAY AWAY FROM OVERSTOCK
I couldn't believe how fast my furniture came. Unfortunately, it was the wrong color but they fixed the problem fast.
Asked for a price match on an oder. They told me the other site had it on sale so they couldn't give me credit. Some low price guarantee...
This is the 3rd time I have ordered overstock and they did not follow thru on the time I was supposed to get it.
Bought a rug using my husband's account but paid with my MasterCard. Rug came and smelled acrid and seemed to shed some kind of dirt when walked on barefooted. Did an online chat and was told if product was not as described or was in someway defective they would pay return shipping and they emailed a prepaid return authorization and label. They received the return and emailed confirmation of same and deducted the return shipping from the credit they said they were issuing. The credit never posted to the MasterCard and I contacted overstock via on line chat inquiring when the credit was issued and when I could expect it to show on the MasterCard. Got a rep who pulled up the order, asked who she was speaking to and the billing address. I told her my name she said company policy didn't allow her to give info to anyone but the account holder. Told her it was my credit card and the same billing address as my husband's and they had no problem taking the charge from someone other than the account holder and I wanted to speak to a manager.
Manager logs on, says hi, I explain that I want to know when the credit will be received and he gives me the same "can't give info to anyone over than the account holder.
Now, mind you, I'm online so I could say I was Donald Trump and they wouldn't know the difference so I type this reply..."so, theoretically I can end this chat and sign on and request an online chat with another customer service (the term makes me chuckle even as I type it) and say I am my husband and get the info".
Pause online as he ponders this and then types back that credits usually take 3-5 business days.
Not even going to get into why I am paying return shipping, just a teachable moment not to buy anything ever again from overstock and to write this review to warn anyone thinking of buying from them that it really is not worth the effort and you don't know what you are getting until it shows up and if it isn't what it should be, good luck on your second career talking to customer service.
Order a are rug it was nothing like descrobed very thin very cheap so sent it back catch was then charged me $42 to send it back so NEVER AGAIN WILL I ORDER FROM OVERSTOCK. COM
Answer: Hey, I would be very careful. I have transacted with Overstock three times and I don't believe there is as much security in terms of guarantee as with Amazon. And, if you buy items fulfilled by Amazon (meaning the product ships from Amazon's warehouse) you are even more guaranteed. For example, I bought some dinner napkins from an Amazon seller, fulfilled by Amazon. They were not what they were supposed to be and Amazon issued me a credit immediately and scheduled UPS to pick up my item to return. I'm very confident that with Amazon you will get quality service and if the product is not as described or substandard you will be in better hands especially with Amazon fulfilled items. Overstock is just not up to par and I wouldn't purchase something like a medicated cream from Overstock until they get it together.
Answer: I used a credit card on Overstock when purchasing my bed. It was years ago, I still sleep on it. I had no problems using my credit card on Overstock
