I've been on okcupid for 3 months, and went on dates with 7 different men in the first month, but now my likes and messages all dried up. All of the men are liars, either about appearance, age, or intention. 3 were 5'2'' and lied about their height, adding 3 inches. One was more overweight and had a lot of acne, but was a decent guy. One tried to convince me to want children when I explicitly said I don't want kids; he liked single moms, so why didn't he just stick to the maternal types? 2 were older than their profile and had white hair for their "thirty" years of age. One started groping me and claimed he was giving me a message; he tried to get me to drink alcohol even though I don't drink. One showed up 1 hour late and never talked to me again.
I've used this site for nearly 4 years. I haven't had a lot of luck here but that's not really my issue. My issue is how they were indiscriminate against a photo that I was pretty sure was aligned with their terms of service. This is the same one I've used on other sites with better results without much hassle. When I asked and complained about it they refused to reply. They've had worse pictures on that stupid site and a ton of them are ten times more offensive than a goofy picture of me. Sorry not only do you have crappy dates you also have crappy service.
OkCupid is by far my favorite of all the sites Ive tried and Ive had the most success on it despite currently being single. It offers options other sites dont like narrowing down your search criteria to specific groups and types as well as giving a person the freedom to choose between a variety of sexual orientations and preferences. It may not seem like a big deal to most people, but other sites flat out exclude certain groups due to their lack of options. Im not poly or in an open relationship, but some people are and not all of them are swingers for god sake! If you are looking for a site thats not as vanilla as the mainstream dating sites and no where near as hardcore as some others, OkCupid might be a good choice for you.
OkCupid is an American-based international online cheating and robbing website that features multiple silly questions in order to FOOL its members.
Their aim is to steal each and every penny from customers credit cards.
This website is garbage... total fraud...
I have been single for quite some time and this is one of the sites I have recently tried out. It is free but the trade off is that there are some people on here just to screw around and not seriously into dating... read player guys. But you get what you pay for. Less useful for older people too. I haven't found anyone yet, but I am hopeful!
The responses I received were overwhelming when I first joined even before I had completed my profile. I thought in the beginning there was just some outrageous flirtation going on. The most in depth conversations I had were between four men all of whom were most insistent on getting my email address or phone number within the hour of speaking to them. These four claimed to be successful businessmen, three living abroad who would be willing to relocate, two of these men were interestingly in the gold/diamond import/export business. Despite their claims of being English speakers, they very quickly exposed themselves as very poor English speakers.
I closed my account after two days because it was too exhausting trying to determine who was real and who was attempting to scam me.
I met my girlfriend on here on January 5th, 2014. We went out a week later after chatting for a week. We knew we were a match since the first date. I had a few other dates planned but never ended up going out on them.
It takes trial and error to meet the right person on here. It's kind of like playing the lotto, it's the luck of the draw. You'll meet other members that will respond to your messages at a snails pace. You have to be patient and eventually you'll meet someone compatible. I went on a few dates on here and they never ended up working out until I went out with my future wife. We are getting married on August 5th 2017.
UPDATE: We got married on August 5th, 2017 and recently bought our first house. We get along great and never fight. Thanks to OKCupid for making this possible.
I'd heard good things about this site from a mate. It is easy to use and free, which is great, although you have to answer a lot of seemingly pointless questions. I signed up and made the mistake of saying that I was just looking for something casual. Clearly if you are a guy and this is what you are really looking for, then this might not be the site for you, unless you have very thick skin. Probably better to lie (as my mate did) and claim that you are looking for a "short-term relationship" if you want to avoid the inevitable abusive responses to emails in which you have written something grossly offensive like "Hi, I like your profile, please have a look at mine and let me know if you are interested". Time for me to give up on internet dating I think...
I purchased upgrade and my matches that they sent were not even close it's a joke not even worth 1 star I cancelled after one day and they really sent garbage the matches were not even in distance specified by me don't waste your time and money on this you got a better chance on a street corner than this site
From all the comments I've been reading I can see not a lot of people are having luck in this site. A lot of people on this site are not looking for something real. I was lucky enough to find my boyfriend on there after 3 weeks of being on there we started talking then we decided to go out now we're living together and plan on getting married soon :)
For gay men, not too many options. But the UI I am not fond of. It's all over the place and hard to find what you want. The search engine also need to be improved. Otherwise I think good to have in the rotation of apps as it is popular.
In a matter of less than two days I had received about twenty messages... 18 were scammers, one wanted pictures of me naked and one was just not my type at all. I quickly deleted my info and the app. It was the worst site I have ever been on!
I have been on OKC and POF. Nothing so far from OKC and obviously some only look at pictures and write as if they read the profile. POF was a bust because the women on it were not honest or sincere More like a bunch of sour old cows been put out to pasture and got bored so they put their pics, if the pics were really theirs, on a web site to wait for replies and break the monotony. One was really criminally offensive. I am sure she / he / they have placed a phony complaint. OKC is up in the air. I live in Florida and plan to bicycle to PA. I want to meet a woman there. I definitely am completely on the level. Nothing but some answers or "We are not a match."
I pay for it, and regret it. No work properly. Plenty of fake profiles
Poor support and is not easy get a reply.
Use but please do not pay.
After first day, i remove my subscription. The app is just Meh.
Does not deserve to put a cent on it. Sucks as hell.
After 6 days on this site i feel embarrassed for paying them and have my picture up. It's a leftover site with fake accounts and the lowest level of humanity. And google had them rated one of the best sites, Google is giving 5 stars to every company who pays them disgusting. Save your money and do a research before you sing up for any of this sites.
I was with the site for few years, and I'm here to tell you that really works
Have up and downs, but you never to be patient!
Well I meet someone, now we are engaged
Thank you for bringing happiness in my life
I've been on this site before but as of late it truly has gone down in the dumps.
The site is filled with a bunch of unattractive low lives.
Truthfully the messages I got a fifth grader would probably have more conversation than these men did.
I also have to mention the young early 20's looking to have fun with someone older. Oh please go away.
My last straw was when a guy called me very demeaning racial name. I had to get off that site and I WILL NEVER RETURN!
I was a member on this site for 2 weeks before I was locked out of my account. I have written to customer service repeatedly with absolutely no reply. They have no phone contact info. Now my info is floating out there somewhere and I can't access it or delete it. I've read numerous complaints of the same kind and have come to the conclusion that OKCupid is bad news.
I've found that out of all of the online dating sites, this is the only one that gets it right. They provide free members with all of the necessary functionality to meet an individual. You see someone interesting, you send them a message. After using the site for awhile, I started meeting people quite frequently. I don't expect to immediately be paired with someone (as no one should) but I have to say OKC gave me the quantity necessary to find the quality I desired. I've made a lot of good friends and have even had a few relationships from the site. Since I have gotten so much out of it, I have paid into it mainly to support them. The paid features are nice as well^_^
I had the okcupid account for a while and always got bullying message from crazy people. So yesterday when I got another bullying message from a stranger who got infuriated after he read my profile and noticed that he might not be someone that I'm looking for, I decided to take a screenshot of what he wrote me and I posted what he wrote on my profile picture and I reported that to okcupid. But instead okcupid tried to protect me as a victim, they right away deleted my account. I wrote them at least three emails with this incident and also attached the screenshot of this crazy stranger's nasty message but they did not reply at all and just ignored me. Okcupid is letting those bullies barking like rabid dogs on other innocent users and let them run free while blocking the innocent ones. If anyone who want to sue this website, I'll be joining!
Answer: It's good only if you absolutely feel the need to burn your money and time! Seriously speaking, don't repeat my mistake! I had wasted plenty of time and emotions there trying to find a gem among rubbish. Just go to a decent and efficient site with good reputation and you will have plenty of choice there as long as you are a normal and adequate person. I'm using https://j4l.com/402007 And I'm content with it. I found several ladies that I really like, I had meetings with them and now its the time to choose for me!
Answer: OLC is so so... Most of the woman are in dream land and seeking Mr USA. And are not going to meet you in person 95% of the time... You really need to weed out the B. S & players... And that is simple to do... If they can't meet you in person in public with in one week. Drop them... Don't waste your time... Next!
Answer: Terri - this is what I recently sent in about OKC. I will answer your specific questions at the end of this. I have heard many complaints about OKC and scammers. But I AM NOT HAVING ANYWHERE NEAR THE PROBLEMS THAT OTHERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT. I am on several sites, and I experience about the same % of scammers on all. 1) it is so easy to spot a scanner - he wants to use email or text/phone right away. Is this really a problem? I immediately block. 2) if he is in Africa or any other 3rd world nation, I immediately block. I filter my messages so that I do not receive messages from anyone who has answered less than 100 questions or is at least an 85% match. Scammers are so obvious. Also, I note that most scammers claim to be "god-fearing christians," or "looking for an LTR or marriage." I am an atheist and very liberal and state this in my profile and my questions. I know what I am about to say is very offputting, snobbish, elite, etc., but I don't think scammers hit atheist, well-educated, and skeptical people as much as they do others (christians). Sorry, but I did say you wouldn't like that. Scammers are on every site. I have been following the sites and the complaints about scammers. My conclusion, based on my experience, blogs, and LOTS of research, indicate that every site has about the same amount of scammers. Sites that provide almost 0% info on potential matches (Zoosk, POF, tagged, Chemistry, Match, ourtime, etc. - all worthless for matching, IMO) do NOT have fewer scammer than OKC. I am also a moderator on OKC. WORD: Do a GIS on every picture on every profile on every site. It will tell you if the pics were stolen from a commercial source (models, actors, etc.) or not. I have had a ton (sometimes 3/week) of dates from OKC, and I do not believe any of these guys were scammers. Finally, if you know how to spot a scammer, what difference does it make how many there are on any site? I am 59. Yes, I have many very young men contacting me. I just say "You are too young, but thank you for your interest." If they reply, I block. As I stated, I've met tons of great guys (and of course, creeps) and had a lot of dates. I have a lot of correspondence before the date, and make it clear that I am looking for LTR and NOT FWB, NSA (what a load of crap). I have not clicked with anyone yet; but the, I am an atheist, free-thinker, liberal in Texas. Not a lot of guys hit on me (after 18 months on OKC, I only get about 8 guys/week hitting on me. Check my profile: I'm not gorgeous (LIB75002) or email me: joannar75002@gmail.com). I will be happy to help you further, if requested.
Answer: If you use care and caution it's safe. Women are subjected to more weirdos but you can block them. Spammers are going to get through and they will usually ask for your email or phone number. If someone interests you message a lot before you meet and always meet in a public place. If someone insists on more than you're comfortable with move on.
Answer: You have to understand on clear thing: THIS SITE IS A 2 IN 1 DEAL. People are vetted based upon: 1) their overall attractiveness + 2) their ability to PULL IN MORE USERS I have found an UNDERGROUND OKC and have made some friends in that with my last account, but then admin began asking me strange questions about my experiences there that sounded alot less like SITE PATROLLING and a lot more like I WAS FOUND OUT AS A NON INSIDER among that group. I have a running list of accounts that are "sponsored" by the site. I was among the very first to report that okc was OWNED BY MATCH.COM to be used as its social outlet site. HOWEVER AS OF 2 DAYS AGO A MUCH BIGGER ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE: Match.com BOUGHT POF /Plenty of Fish and has bought into /partnered with TINDER. By years end ALSO be on lookout for Ashley Madison to be brought into the fold. WHY ALL THIS: to cut radically the price of the investment & upkeep of all those lab created profiles. BY overlapping data bases and also ADMIN STAFF... The operating costs should have al least a 40% reduction which means 40% more profit. Just so you know Toni, look up Passionate Composer. I will write you back. REAL PEOPLE DO THIS. You may like the profile too. I was among the first to take advantage of the social site move.
Answer: Yes, I have had this happen a lot. People just want your phone number because they don't want to use the site. Then they want to ask questions like where you are from. I guess so they can research you. I am real leery about giving out my email and phone numbers. All kinds of scammers out there.
Answer: Yes, it is completely free... You pay for the more advanced features, but over the last ten years or so, I have met my last 6 lovers through the site ( though oftentimes it turns out that we already knew the same people... The matching algorithms are simply_that_ *good*!) and have never given them a single penny. ( though honestly, I really should, if only out of gratitude!) Give it a try, it really is head and shoulders above the rest of the sites out there...!
Answer: Not really, before Okcupid went full on liberal wasteland they used to release their numbers/stats and it was never bad to begin with. I believe it was like 60/40 depending on how you set up your searches. In my state it was close to 50/50.
OkCupid has a rating of 1.9 stars from 648 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with OkCupid most frequently mention fake profiles, customer service and phone number. OkCupid ranks 644th among Dating sites.
