Literally all of my adult boyfriends have been through OKC. I am a dog groomer, before I owned my own business, I worked in salons with all women, and I am not into the whole social scene of clubbing and concerts. Anyway, 5 1/2 years ago this guy messages me on okcupid. He was funny and intelligent and loved to read, so we met up at a Hobby Lobby and he helped me cut out stencils to use for Creative Grooming.
I was the first woman he ever spoke with on OKC, whereas I had been on the site for about 6 years and met and dated a generous handful of guys. I was looking for something more permanent when I met this guy though, as I had an almost-2 year old son at the time.
5 1/2 years later, I am submitting this review as I nurse our 11 month old daughter to sleep. I am eternally grateful to this site for bringing us together. Use the site as it's mesnt to be used, fill out the silly questionaires and pay attention to the compatibility ratings. Be picky! Dont even bother talking to anyone that isnt 88% or higher compatible. Answer those questions honestly. And dont treat every date like it could be your last, or as if every man is your possible future husband. Just know what you want, only date men that are what you want, have fun, and enjoy yourself.
Hi... this site has some pretty creepy questions to complete as part of the site setup and matching process... multiple, embedded questions seeking to identify those who were bullied at school, victims of abusive relationships, and those desperately lonely as well as multiple questions that are sex-related and unsavoury, and generally follow the same theme... these I skipped and the resultant personality graph developed from my answers to the questions did not appear inconsistent with the answers given, and were potentially manipulative (I have studied psychometric testing as an undergraduate, and worked in mental health, and many of these Qs are on the nose)... I was only on the site a couple of days and was swamped with 50 or so messages purportedly from the US when I was only interested in locals, and while they were courteous and seemed nice, many were clearly not who they said they were, and all wanted to immediately go to Messenger or private email addresses, which I declined... be very cautious if joining this site, and follow your instincts. It was easy enough to unsubscribe.
I have been on an off this website for a few years. I talked to some cool guys and some bad ones. I have went on a few dates with the guys and they were okay never went past the first date for the most part. It's not worth the money to pay for a month to month fee. It is somewhat good quality for free.
My son visited your site and had someone try to scam him for money. I recommend no one use this site.
TO MANY ONE STAR OR LESS HERE. HOWEVER. EVEN THOUGH OKCUPID HAS NOT COME FORWARD TO ANSWER, BELIEVE EVEY THREE STAR OR MORE IS PR. MORE THAN LIKELY FROM THE OWNERS OR STAFF.
In a matter of less than two days I had received about twenty messages... 18 were scammers, one wanted pictures of me naked and one was just not my type at all. I quickly deleted my info and the app. It was the worst site I have ever been on!
This sight is a waste! I had one guy message me last Thursday and he seemed very nice and told me how beautiful I was. We decided to meet on Saturday for drinks. He seemed to come on strong and I started to feel uncomfortable. By Monday he was texting me he loved me! When I told him there was no way he could feel that way so soon he proceeded to tell me he wanted to gag me with his c**k and piss down my throat! Disgusting CREEP!
This would have to be the worst site out there! I got constant emails from overseas (which was not a part of my search) and most were obvious scammers.
There were very few local people matched and the ones that were did not fit my search criteria. I constantly got a message that said no matches found due to my filters... I widened the age group, the kilometres and narrowed it down to a non smoker and results were the same!
Don't waste your time or money on this site... its a scam!
While I was member about couple month, only had few visitors.
No one replies my messages.
Why does this web site have so many scammers it is ridiculous I get at least 4 a week how a do they get away with this? How do you actually contact the person on the profile
This site is free to use. I have no complains about it. Very easy to use!
I received a lot of emails and like some of these women who have made complaints, I almost fell. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't find any information on this guy in the states. Said he grew up in Cincinnati. I found his same story all over the other dating sites as well. The pictures are fake. Do not send money or give out personal information. OKCupid attracts them more because it is a free site. Anyone who tells you they are doing business in another country - please stay away. If you choose to look online, please go to a reputable website.
I had a profile on there. My brother also had one. A woman sent me a very abusive email just out of the blue... and I mean very abusive. I responded in my usual smart-$#*! self (what do expect when a 72 year old woman abuses you and her profile states that she's looking for 35 year olds). I wasn't abusive. I just pointed out how wrong she was about me and should go back to searching for 35 year olds. I got my account deleted by the site. My brother got his account deleted by the site because I was at his place and they blocked the IP. There was no message from the site except to say that I was reported and blocked and that was the end of the matter. I realise now that I should have reported the woman instead. But the fact that they deleted my brother's profile too is uncalled for. Basically the site will let women abuse you, but dont you dare stand up for yourself because you'll just end up blocked. My advice? Go to "plenty of fish" instead.
I've used this site for nearly 4 years. I haven't had a lot of luck here but that's not really my issue. My issue is how they were indiscriminate against a photo that I was pretty sure was aligned with their terms of service. This is the same one I've used on other sites with better results without much hassle. When I asked and complained about it they refused to reply. They've had worse pictures on that stupid site and a ton of them are ten times more offensive than a goofy picture of me. Sorry not only do you have crappy dates you also have crappy service.
Look to people that brought me back one was brutally honest because I asked her to be Women on these types of applications or sites are pretty shallow and there are only in it for themselves I get the feeling that men don't matter on these things especially to the site themselves
This is by far the worst dating experience I have ever had. To be clear, I have tried other sites in the past but okcupid is the worst. I had 5 guys in 3 weeks be extremely rude and cruel because I did not want to go on a date after emailing or txting. Every single guy was crazy! If you are looking for a gentleman or someone who understands online dating try another site.
When a guy ask for your phone number before even asking you for your name uhm not good or install a conversation to get to know you or asking you why you have only one pic in your profile "Red Flag"
I had problems with this site for many reasons,
1. The women werent very pleasant. You cant even talk to them let alone even have a good time talking.
2. the matching system is completely destroyed by members not giving a $#*! about the questions answered.
3. not enough women around the area to even hangout or meet up with.
4. hard breakups happen on this site for no reason.
There is no real men on this site all catfish or horny pervs. So if your into this getting your money stolen or stalked and/or jumped for your body just fir sex. Good luck to you.
I am being scammed now. He is asking money desperately.
The most men who wrote me claimed to lose their wives or parents. And all of them have a lot of reason for not seeing each other on video chat.
So my recommendation do not send your pictures through email because they can be used for scam purposes and set a video chat in order to make sure that the person in the picture is real.
Answer: It's good only if you absolutely feel the need to burn your money and time! Seriously speaking, don't repeat my mistake! I had wasted plenty of time and emotions there trying to find a gem among rubbish. Just go to a decent and efficient site with good reputation and you will have plenty of choice there as long as you are a normal and adequate person. I'm using https://j4l.com/402007 And I'm content with it. I found several ladies that I really like, I had meetings with them and now its the time to choose for me!
Answer: OLC is so so... Most of the woman are in dream land and seeking Mr USA. And are not going to meet you in person 95% of the time... You really need to weed out the B. S & players... And that is simple to do... If they can't meet you in person in public with in one week. Drop them... Don't waste your time... Next!
Answer: Terri - this is what I recently sent in about OKC. I will answer your specific questions at the end of this. I have heard many complaints about OKC and scammers. But I AM NOT HAVING ANYWHERE NEAR THE PROBLEMS THAT OTHERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT. I am on several sites, and I experience about the same % of scammers on all. 1) it is so easy to spot a scanner - he wants to use email or text/phone right away. Is this really a problem? I immediately block. 2) if he is in Africa or any other 3rd world nation, I immediately block. I filter my messages so that I do not receive messages from anyone who has answered less than 100 questions or is at least an 85% match. Scammers are so obvious. Also, I note that most scammers claim to be "god-fearing christians," or "looking for an LTR or marriage." I am an atheist and very liberal and state this in my profile and my questions. I know what I am about to say is very offputting, snobbish, elite, etc., but I don't think scammers hit atheist, well-educated, and skeptical people as much as they do others (christians). Sorry, but I did say you wouldn't like that. Scammers are on every site. I have been following the sites and the complaints about scammers. My conclusion, based on my experience, blogs, and LOTS of research, indicate that every site has about the same amount of scammers. Sites that provide almost 0% info on potential matches (Zoosk, POF, tagged, Chemistry, Match, ourtime, etc. - all worthless for matching, IMO) do NOT have fewer scammer than OKC. I am also a moderator on OKC. WORD: Do a GIS on every picture on every profile on every site. It will tell you if the pics were stolen from a commercial source (models, actors, etc.) or not. I have had a ton (sometimes 3/week) of dates from OKC, and I do not believe any of these guys were scammers. Finally, if you know how to spot a scammer, what difference does it make how many there are on any site? I am 59. Yes, I have many very young men contacting me. I just say "You are too young, but thank you for your interest." If they reply, I block. As I stated, I've met tons of great guys (and of course, creeps) and had a lot of dates. I have a lot of correspondence before the date, and make it clear that I am looking for LTR and NOT FWB, NSA (what a load of crap). I have not clicked with anyone yet; but the, I am an atheist, free-thinker, liberal in Texas. Not a lot of guys hit on me (after 18 months on OKC, I only get about 8 guys/week hitting on me. Check my profile: I'm not gorgeous (LIB75002) or email me: joannar75002@gmail.com). I will be happy to help you further, if requested.
Answer: If you use care and caution it's safe. Women are subjected to more weirdos but you can block them. Spammers are going to get through and they will usually ask for your email or phone number. If someone interests you message a lot before you meet and always meet in a public place. If someone insists on more than you're comfortable with move on.
Answer: You have to understand on clear thing: THIS SITE IS A 2 IN 1 DEAL. People are vetted based upon: 1) their overall attractiveness + 2) their ability to PULL IN MORE USERS I have found an UNDERGROUND OKC and have made some friends in that with my last account, but then admin began asking me strange questions about my experiences there that sounded alot less like SITE PATROLLING and a lot more like I WAS FOUND OUT AS A NON INSIDER among that group. I have a running list of accounts that are "sponsored" by the site. I was among the very first to report that okc was OWNED BY MATCH.COM to be used as its social outlet site. HOWEVER AS OF 2 DAYS AGO A MUCH BIGGER ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE: Match.com BOUGHT POF /Plenty of Fish and has bought into /partnered with TINDER. By years end ALSO be on lookout for Ashley Madison to be brought into the fold. WHY ALL THIS: to cut radically the price of the investment & upkeep of all those lab created profiles. BY overlapping data bases and also ADMIN STAFF... The operating costs should have al least a 40% reduction which means 40% more profit. Just so you know Toni, look up Passionate Composer. I will write you back. REAL PEOPLE DO THIS. You may like the profile too. I was among the first to take advantage of the social site move.
Answer: Yes, I have had this happen a lot. People just want your phone number because they don't want to use the site. Then they want to ask questions like where you are from. I guess so they can research you. I am real leery about giving out my email and phone numbers. All kinds of scammers out there.
Answer: Yes, it is completely free... You pay for the more advanced features, but over the last ten years or so, I have met my last 6 lovers through the site ( though oftentimes it turns out that we already knew the same people... The matching algorithms are simply_that_ *good*!) and have never given them a single penny. ( though honestly, I really should, if only out of gratitude!) Give it a try, it really is head and shoulders above the rest of the sites out there...!
Answer: Not really, before Okcupid went full on liberal wasteland they used to release their numbers/stats and it was never bad to begin with. I believe it was like 60/40 depending on how you set up your searches. In my state it was close to 50/50.
