Signed up to OkCupid last May ('16) so thats now been officially 1 year ive been using it. Decided to get a different membership this May (for wejustfit.com) but still using OkCupid for the moment. Keen to stick with it as ive had dates and met some lovely people but figure its time to try something different too. Here's hoping I find my queen! Wish me luck!:-)
It's a great site with a very clean and easy layout. I've met a number of partners over the years on OKCupid, both for casual hookups and longer-term relationships. It can feel a little small after a while, but if you are willing to put in some work there are enough interesting people to make it very worthwhile.
I think it's pretty good and I know couples who met on Match. Another good one is wejustfit.com, a bit smaller but my cousin married a guy from that site so it's not always the best known sites that work, it's more about the quality of singles I s'pose. Try it, you can thank me later ha ha
I decided to try this website after I had no luck on Plenty Of Fish. This site is easy to use, appealing to the eye, and kind of fun to use; it's interesting to answer questions and see who you get matched with. The variety of people I think are better, too and they seem more attractive and less... trashy (POF on the other hand is filled with trashy people). Within a few days of joining, I started talking to this person who was one of my highest matches and we've been together for about 3 months now. The website isn't perfect, but it's definitely one of the best dating sites I've tried and for once, not everyone you talk to wants to just hook up which is refreshing. Even if things in my current relationship don't work out, I would definitely use OkCupid again.
So not being comfortable with on-line dating I gave this site a try. The site will email you every day or so "compatible matches" that are selected from your answered questions. The first week of those matches was "ok" but no one that really interest me. Then I was sent 3 matches of women that I had recently worked with."How does that happen"! And, these were women who I knew I was not compatible with. Not only was this weird but it made me think there is really no logic to the site when it comes to matching couples. I really think they just randomly match up anyone. Needless to say I'm no longer dating on-line. Note: I live in the Los Angeles area not in some hidden mountain area where there are only 5 ppl living...
My account was stolen by a hacker and OKC allowed them to change my login e-mail address without even sending a confirmation e-mail to the original e-mail address. Now I can't login or reset my password as it's associated with another e-mail, meanwhile some prick is using my account to scam women. OKC support is apparently non-existent as I haven't been able to get a reply through any of their channels and they don't even have a phone number to call. I'm a paying customer and can't get any help. After looking into it, it seems my experience is pretty common. Use a site that cares about security and customer service.
First having to pay and this is with all online dating site. I believe we should paid when we get a date or at least a trial. Now on to this site the interface suck and some profile are fake but the worst is the people you meet on here they don't read profile and many women give one word answers. I am currently dating someone from there and it not how I imagined let just say she is not ready to date. I would get into the story but it making my head out thinking about it.
That I got any type of meaningful relationship from. Lasted almost 3 years, she was very pretty and had a lot going for her. Although she did lie about her age on her profile to be younger. On the end it didn't work out, but was nice while it lasted. Tried to go back and try again. No such luck this time. I think it has a lot to do with chance.
This site is the same as it was many years ago... I probably messaged 50+ girls on here. Im a better than average looking guy. I got back only one response from a girl saying she was busy but open for another day. This place sucks. I've read articles online that men who want to get laid need to send out 200+ messages per day and call that "success." No! That is insanity.
These websites don't work, if you want to get laid meet a girl eye to eye and take her out then slowly and subtly emphasize or express you want sex. Or just go to a bar. Plain and simple.
The women on these sites: want attention, want to feel that they are loved when their day goes bad, ego boost. They are too coward to actually go out and meet someone. There is but 1% of women on here who actually want to meet someone.
5 years ago, the sweetest soul messaged me through Okcupid and we have been together ever since. Okcupid is the only dating app where I was able to meet people who didn't want to just hook up. I was able to find someone genuine who actually wanted a relationship and we never would have met without the app. I would give this app 1000 stars if I could.
This is hands down the worst site ever. Joined off and on for 8 months and every time it is the same lame scammers. All these men want is sex and absolutely nothing else. They will talk and talk and talk then eventually send you a picture of their junk. I've gone out with a few but it is the same crap... ill buy you dinner but I expect sex when it is over.
I'll stick with trying to meet someone just living my life normally without a damn computer.
This app is the worst ever! Scam scam scam! Stay far away from this sight! Its all bots and scammers! I dont think it actually has real people on it. They just keep bleeding money out of you! I wish it was possible to give zero stars.
Although Id been on there about 2-3 years, most were fake users that I sussed out immediately. I did meet someone who I visited and came to visit me, but had his own issues to resolve with ex-wife... so that was that! Other than that, I was deleted for being able to spot scammers that OKCupid could not! Talk about 'biting the hand that feeds you'... Shame on you OkCupid! No backbone, just deleting someone to boost your egos is not the way to go!
Being a free dating site is nice. What is not nice is the thousands of assessment questions you have the opportunity to answer or not, but they are what the site uses to determine your "match percentage". Many of the questions are repetitive or just plain stupid. After getting an additional 200+ "likes" within two weeks of changing my profile picture so guys would know what I look like from the front, I concluded that the assessment questions were also irrelevant for a lot of users. I did go on dates with 7 different men from OKCupid, but didn't find Mr. Right, and didn't feel like wasting any more time on there.
I don't understand those, who are saying this site is bad. I am using this from 7 months, i never paid any penny for this site. Downside of the site is that there are not so many people and there is quiver - computer is giving you recommended matches - usually some overweight women what is deal breaker for me, because i do sports and i expect the women to be at least ok shape. I have met about 8 women from this site, plus 2 women abroad, who turned into really nice penpals. For me by now this is the best FREE dating site i have ever tried. One downside - but it is on all dating sites, women are not serious what they want. I must say, i am good looking guy with wide range of interests, but i rarely get a response. Are they waiting for Bred Pitt to text them? Or i think for lot of girls online dating is just a way how to make self-esteem higher, because guys are saying nice things.
Used to be a good website and I met a few good looking ladies from there, but lately it has become stale and boring with not so many profiles in my area now so I'm talking now with foreigners from other countries. The site is not great just okay because it let you do some chatting with members without paying which is rarely on similar websites. But the quality of membership has gone somewhat stale and without choices.
OK Cupid is an overrated dating site that I would not recommend. They have yet to match me with anyone after I answered over 50 questions. I feel like I threw my money away on this site after hearing such good things.
They went from the very best dating site to one of the worst. They ruined how communications work in some convoluted way that doesn't make sense to anybody. They don't deal with spam profiles at all. And they've become involved politically biased pushing one side over another to the detriment of being a neutral platform. It's a shame about how far from grace they've fallen.
I will share my experience with this site. Seems to me there are a lot of fake profiles on there but once you try to scope them out, and connect with the true profiles. Network a little you should find that OK cupid will bring you some good. Charismatic friends. I do like the layout and it is easy and fun to use. Nice to boy shop, I have met some highly interesting people and had some fascinating chats, it is very true about the chemistry. They get that right.
Really pleased with OkCupid I have to say. Id rank it up there with WeJustFit.com in terms of selection of girls/ number of fakes/ variety of functions/ mobile site/ etc. Think those are pretty much the cream of the fun dating crop at the moment, although im still due to try a couple of new ones in the coming months. Would recommend.
Answer: It's good only if you absolutely feel the need to burn your money and time! Seriously speaking, don't repeat my mistake! I had wasted plenty of time and emotions there trying to find a gem among rubbish. Just go to a decent and efficient site with good reputation and you will have plenty of choice there as long as you are a normal and adequate person. I'm using https://j4l.com/402007 And I'm content with it. I found several ladies that I really like, I had meetings with them and now its the time to choose for me!
Answer: OLC is so so... Most of the woman are in dream land and seeking Mr USA. And are not going to meet you in person 95% of the time... You really need to weed out the B. S & players... And that is simple to do... If they can't meet you in person in public with in one week. Drop them... Don't waste your time... Next!
Answer: Terri - this is what I recently sent in about OKC. I will answer your specific questions at the end of this. I have heard many complaints about OKC and scammers. But I AM NOT HAVING ANYWHERE NEAR THE PROBLEMS THAT OTHERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT. I am on several sites, and I experience about the same % of scammers on all. 1) it is so easy to spot a scanner - he wants to use email or text/phone right away. Is this really a problem? I immediately block. 2) if he is in Africa or any other 3rd world nation, I immediately block. I filter my messages so that I do not receive messages from anyone who has answered less than 100 questions or is at least an 85% match. Scammers are so obvious. Also, I note that most scammers claim to be "god-fearing christians," or "looking for an LTR or marriage." I am an atheist and very liberal and state this in my profile and my questions. I know what I am about to say is very offputting, snobbish, elite, etc., but I don't think scammers hit atheist, well-educated, and skeptical people as much as they do others (christians). Sorry, but I did say you wouldn't like that. Scammers are on every site. I have been following the sites and the complaints about scammers. My conclusion, based on my experience, blogs, and LOTS of research, indicate that every site has about the same amount of scammers. Sites that provide almost 0% info on potential matches (Zoosk, POF, tagged, Chemistry, Match, ourtime, etc. - all worthless for matching, IMO) do NOT have fewer scammer than OKC. I am also a moderator on OKC. WORD: Do a GIS on every picture on every profile on every site. It will tell you if the pics were stolen from a commercial source (models, actors, etc.) or not. I have had a ton (sometimes 3/week) of dates from OKC, and I do not believe any of these guys were scammers. Finally, if you know how to spot a scammer, what difference does it make how many there are on any site? I am 59. Yes, I have many very young men contacting me. I just say "You are too young, but thank you for your interest." If they reply, I block. As I stated, I've met tons of great guys (and of course, creeps) and had a lot of dates. I have a lot of correspondence before the date, and make it clear that I am looking for LTR and NOT FWB, NSA (what a load of crap). I have not clicked with anyone yet; but the, I am an atheist, free-thinker, liberal in Texas. Not a lot of guys hit on me (after 18 months on OKC, I only get about 8 guys/week hitting on me. Check my profile: I'm not gorgeous (LIB75002) or email me: joannar75002@gmail.com). I will be happy to help you further, if requested.
Answer: If you use care and caution it's safe. Women are subjected to more weirdos but you can block them. Spammers are going to get through and they will usually ask for your email or phone number. If someone interests you message a lot before you meet and always meet in a public place. If someone insists on more than you're comfortable with move on.
Answer: You have to understand on clear thing: THIS SITE IS A 2 IN 1 DEAL. People are vetted based upon: 1) their overall attractiveness + 2) their ability to PULL IN MORE USERS I have found an UNDERGROUND OKC and have made some friends in that with my last account, but then admin began asking me strange questions about my experiences there that sounded alot less like SITE PATROLLING and a lot more like I WAS FOUND OUT AS A NON INSIDER among that group. I have a running list of accounts that are "sponsored" by the site. I was among the very first to report that okc was OWNED BY MATCH.COM to be used as its social outlet site. HOWEVER AS OF 2 DAYS AGO A MUCH BIGGER ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE: Match.com BOUGHT POF /Plenty of Fish and has bought into /partnered with TINDER. By years end ALSO be on lookout for Ashley Madison to be brought into the fold. WHY ALL THIS: to cut radically the price of the investment & upkeep of all those lab created profiles. BY overlapping data bases and also ADMIN STAFF... The operating costs should have al least a 40% reduction which means 40% more profit. Just so you know Toni, look up Passionate Composer. I will write you back. REAL PEOPLE DO THIS. You may like the profile too. I was among the first to take advantage of the social site move.
Answer: Yes, I have had this happen a lot. People just want your phone number because they don't want to use the site. Then they want to ask questions like where you are from. I guess so they can research you. I am real leery about giving out my email and phone numbers. All kinds of scammers out there.
Answer: Yes, it is completely free... You pay for the more advanced features, but over the last ten years or so, I have met my last 6 lovers through the site ( though oftentimes it turns out that we already knew the same people... The matching algorithms are simply_that_ *good*!) and have never given them a single penny. ( though honestly, I really should, if only out of gratitude!) Give it a try, it really is head and shoulders above the rest of the sites out there...!
Answer: Not really, before Okcupid went full on liberal wasteland they used to release their numbers/stats and it was never bad to begin with. I believe it was like 60/40 depending on how you set up your searches. In my state it was close to 50/50.
OkCupid has a rating of 1.9 stars from 648 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with OkCupid most frequently mention fake profiles, customer service and phone number. OkCupid ranks 644th among Dating sites.
