The overall reputation of OfferUp is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and account management issues. Users frequently report abrupt account deactivations without clear explanations, along with challenges in resolving disputes and obtaining refunds. Additionally, many customers express frustration with the app's glitches and the prevalence of fraudulent listings. While some users have had positive experiences with transactions, these are overshadowed by the negative sentiments surrounding the platform's reliability and support. The need for improved communication and user-friendly processes is evident to enhance overall customer experience.

Looking for 2 items. Actually drove to three locations only for the refrigerator NOT to be working in each case the 3rd time; seller never showed up at all.
I'm looking to buy a car. Everybody I contact on Offer Up writes back with the same freaking line "I'm selling this for my aunt please contact her at such and such email address." And when you follow thru with it just to see where it goes, it's the same there "I'm out of town but send money thru Amazon. Then they contact you with this fake Amazon sh##! So fu##ing frustrating. You'd think Offer Up would be up on this and try to keep their community clean. But it's dirty and filthy as hell! Fu## Offer Up! It's a snake pit!
Sold an Apple Watch two weeks ago. Had it shipped and the receiver filed a complaint because it was iCloud locked. I fixed it the same day and they decided to keep the watch but offer up never gave me my money. I've sent several messages throughout the week that no one has answered
The guy still hasn't been located and now he is back on OfferUp scamming again. Amazing. They know who he actually is, but just don't know where he is staying. Investigators are now responding to his ads, lol
Been using Craigslist for a decade and have had virtually no problems. It's not like I live in Gary Indiana or anything, so why would I. Everything has been pretty smooth. My first experience with OfferUp was a local scammer. I was new, but hardly dumb about this subject. I have busted numerous scammers in my 36 years working with the Gov't, but this site took me by surprise. The seller was local, had a 5 star rating, was verified several times over, had previous sells, etc. Yet, he was a scammer and I had no idea how easy it was to beat this poorly designed system. ANYBODY can get the Stars and badges he had. I ended dealing with a detective who was dealing with this guy, got a warrant and locked the guys account and got ALL the info of his dealings and people involved and eventually found out who the guy really is. What a fiasco. My advice? Be aware that ANYONE can appear to be a legitimate and highly rated person on this website when in fact they may not be. If you are suspicious of places like Craigslist, multiply that by 3 for OfferUP. The number of scams I have seen since far outnumber any other website I have used before. Just my opinions, but be very careful there
I am a new OfferUp buyer/seller.
All my postings keep getting removed (not duplicated postings) with no notice or explanation. It is hard to find a way to communicate with OfferUp because everything is automated. I finally found a back door way to send a contact message. When someone finally responded after 4 attempts and a week passed, he apologized and said it was a technical error. Then all my postings appeared again... but disappeared again 2 days later! Again I have sent 3 messages and days are passing by with no response. This is a very poor experience and I would not recommend OfferUp to anybody.
*Update*Turns out the "guy" I mentioned is just another automated response... I got the exact same message... my listings re-appeared BUT FOR ONLY 2 HOURS! Yep all my listings are gone again!
So I have sent many more messages to this robotic system over the last 4 weeks with no results!
No listings are up!
0 stars.
Ps. Meanwhile there are hundreds of duplicated and miscatorized listings in all sections of OfferUp. (See pic.)
I use search word "van" and gets tons of non-van listings and many many duplicates.
*Update* It took 5 weeks for them to send the same automated apology. My listing are up again. IDK for how long?
I tried to buy a game off of OfferUp, the seller told me he accidentally sent me the wrong package when it come in to send it back, I didn't think anything of it because he seemed legit. Never got the game and the seller refused to respond there after. Can not contact anyone on offerup to report this person and my son was out of a game
In a word Brothers and Sisters, don't. I lost money. Offerup has no phone system. Offerup is a racket. Example, you get two (2) days to return an item, they take four days to get back with you... and then tell you your time to return an item has expired... duh. I confronted the seller about the item she listed as "new, in the box, never opened". She told me to send the item back for a "partial refund". Since when does a seller get to be judge and jury? No doubt she thought she was doing me a favor. I'm not the only one to have this experience. May I suggest eBay. They have a free customer protection and it works very well, and eBay actually has phones with real people you can talk to.
I am a twelve year buyer and seller with eBay and have 100% positive feedback.
Twelve years of excellent eBay customer service, bravo!
Offerup are you listening?
Have a wonderful day, Doc
Bought a car on Offer Up from a Man in my town. He gave me a title, I had the car towed to my home. When I went to resell the car the Man had given me a photo copy of a title.
There is no compensation for my loss. Reported to Police and didn't get any help. I provided an address of the Home I met the man at and had the car towed, Still no help to get this thief. Shame On Offer Up. Reported this Man to Offer Up and he's still selling!
They took my money away and never pay me there are take and I ship out my stuff and I never ever got a penny in my bank they kept all my money
Yes, my account got hacked. A fake post appeared about a 2008 Nissan. In another state. When I edited the post and wrote, "scam, I didnt post this" and changed the price to zero, all my items got marked as sold... i deactivated my account.
Buy elsewhere or you will be sorry. There are too many similar sites that are actually reputable. These people have no idea what honesty is.
Offer has robbed me from not paying me $101.36 since January 8th. I shipped my item to the buyer, and was delivered. I have sent emails after emails to offer up no funds. They got paid 7.9 % their fees, and I got nothing. The buyer got my item. I want to seek legal action? Any advice? I would not recommend anyone to use offer up. They are scammers and thieves. Let's all get together, and report offer yo to the media. Let's take their business out so that they don't steal people's funds. I am 100% down for it.
Sold an item and buyer paid me via the app and I delivered it in person. But some how the funds just evaporated! Now they are not responding to my emails.
There is no record of the payment being processed. It was 130 payments

If you have been wronged by offer-up like I have please I implore you to CALL YOUR LOCAL NEWS CHANNEL AND TELL THEM, "You have a NATIONAL STORY of a major app ripping people off in mass numbers." Folks what offer-up is doing IS SCARY! If they are allowed to get away with this other apps will start to rip us off too WE MUST FIGHT BACK!
TO OFFER-UP THIS IS "MIKE EASTON." HELLO REMEMBER ME?
They should allow for general information to be viewed in your profile. Like a summary as other websites have one. You could never contact anyone to actually help you if you are having problems with posting. It's not worth paying to promote things. A lot of people repeat posts and they don't get taken down. I posted an ad for something and it was taken down saying it didn't meet guidelines! They're full of it.
The people are super bad. They always want stuff for free just to turn around and resell it. That's why I dislike resellers! I'm already asking for a fair price and they expect me to meet them somewhere random. They're crazy. And then the stupid people never read your whole description and ask questions already on the darn description. Yet, all you can do is block them. There's no violations or anything for stupid people wasting one's time.
Offerup is a platform for scammers, it's a scammers heaven, the buyer protection is lie, i bought a iPhone through offerup, the guy sends me an empty iPhone box, i placed a claim using the "buyers protection" that the seller sent me an iPhone box without the iPhone, they said the "tracking number shows that item has been delivered", denied the claim, they told me to go file missing items with USPS. How can that be, seller can just scam people like that and you're not protected, because they will use the excuse of "but the tracking number shows its been delivered". My advice to people don't buy anything on offerup, because you are not protected against scammers. They dont even take down posts that ask buyers to pay through apps such as cash app, in which unsuspected buyers can't get their money back. Be careful people.
Dear OfferUp Team,
This is to verify my transaction number *******. My buyer have cancelled his order even right after OfferUp confirmed and I notified him that his item has been shipped out.
The package is its way to his address and seems like not only i wont get paid but also im loosing the phone i sold for $150.
OfferUp has not contact support number nor email.
If anyone can help me to retrieve the payment or at least redirect the package back to me. Really appreciate it.
I put 3 chairs on offer up and got scammed out of 1650. 00 the person email attached to this scam was *******@gmail and the venmo name i sent money to was Mickey Shipler
DON'T let people scam you. If someone sends a cashiers check wait at least one week to make sure it clears... you can't get your money back
Love the app but buyers say they want to buy your product, you say ok but don't hear from them again OR they ask you to hold it a few days and you don't hear from them.
Offerup's Buyer Protection more like buyer beware. This company ghosts you when your scammed, filing a report, and/or a claim for the so called "Buyer Protection". Big like Ebay or Amazon! LMAO. They don't even have any customer service number and neglets its customers. Site looks like a bunch overpriced junk for sale and a sece pool for the lowest of LOWBALLERS. All I gotta say is that "I gotta go to the bathroom and give birth to an Offerup.com CEO!" Ebay or amazon does particpate in illegal, immorral, and unethic business practices like this company. This experience has reassured me that big corporations are king even if they cost a little more.
Answer: No limit to how many items you can post. To delete the post. Just click on offers. Them there will be a mark as sold button, edit button, then next to that is a button with 3 dots. Click that. Then click archive. Done. No affiliation
