Horrible

The night owl cloud will not record anything. My home got vandalized and no recording and after 6 hrs in the phone with multiple cost serv agents NO SOLUTION!
IM RETURNING THIS JUNK AND NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY THIS S...

It's just a horrible product, there are many issues and customer service is just plain horrible. I would not recommend buying this product buy perhaps ring, or anything else.

I called the support system because I could not view my playback video for a certain day when a package was stolen from my door step. So I called them to assist me with my playback. They end up telling me that they cant see the videos in their system. They cant tell whats wrong. Then they say that all my settings are wrong (which by the way have been fine for the rest of the time except when i need to see the playback: as per them). So i ask them how to fix the setting and they tell me: you have to get a TV next to it to change the setting. And I am like: well i am not from IT background- the guy who set it up for us did it without using our wall mounted TV (which is on another floor) and we have been able to view the videos just fine so far until now when i really need help. And the support lady (Suzy- which i doubt is her real name): stated that she couldnt help me because i cant bring a TV next to my DVR. In the day and age of computers, how am i supposed to bring a TV (i have only one- its big - and its wall mounted) next to my Night Owl DVR Device? When i tell her this, she says, " you should have read the manual before you decided to mount the cameras!" So maybe I am too dumb to use an advanced product such as night owl camera system. So for all those people out there, if you dont understand advanced computers and you need help from them, then you might need to get a degree in IT first!

I purchase two separate cameras connecting to the Wi-Fi was a total disaster I upgraded to a XP 7 modem and they still don't connect to the Wi-Fi I went back and forth with Xfinity night out Xfinity night owl today finally came to the conclusion that both of my cameras did not work I spent hours trying to get these things to connect to my Wi-Fi but NO NO NO.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! If you do, in order for them to warrant their product, you must buy the cameras/product from their website, or the handful of stores they list. If you buy from a store that is not listed on their website, they will not honor their product! This company has the absolute worse customer service I have ever dealt with. We have one of three cameras that continually sees a pixel change. It continues to record over and over. I contacted this company for help, they strung me along for 65 days until finally getting an answer from them. They won't help me because I purchased the cameras off of Newegg.com. Newegg.com won't accept my return now because it's past their 30-day return policy. I'm stuck with a defective camera, and I'm extremely irked! This company sucks! (I even contacted the BBB, and this company still doesn't want to help). It's one dang camera, ONE! I just want it replaced! They must know they have defective product and let 'other' companies sell the product, so they don't have to honor any type of warranty.

I have tried my best to keep my Home Secured by using "Night Owl" 16 camera systems and I just bought a "Night Owl DVR-FTD2-161" and haven't had it a week and found out that "Night Owl" was so much in a hurry to get there stuff out to sale it that they didn't do a complete system check and hook up all kinds of cameras that it says it can take and make sure all 16 cameras work without no problem because I have six cameras that the cameras didn't give a choice to use "Human,Vehicle,or Any Motion. They only let me use "Any Motion Only" pluse my cameras have "Spot Lights" on them and they wouldn't let me turn them on the six cameras neither. So why spend tons of money on something that doesn't " Work Correctly" that is also why Night Owl only gives a "One Year Warranty" because they don't care enough about there products to stand behind them longer. So do more research on "Companies" like "Night Owl" before you go bankrupt and make sure the company "Stands Behind There Products" more then "ONE YEAR"

I was told by technical support that I would have to replace my DVR box because the app account was deleted and my DVR was still attached to the account so I have to replace the box to fix my cameras I have to replace the DVR out of my pocket.I'm done with night owl..

Wireless?

I bought the "wireless" NightOwl security camera on sale as refurbished because the price was affordable. I had read all of their terrible reviews and despite that I bought the refurbished model because it was $75 less than a new truly wireless camera that many of my friends had raved about. I bought a wireless camera because I did not want to bother with electrical cords or a/v cables hanging through my house. I was excited to get it set up but after opening the box, I didn't see any battery slots for the cameras. What I did see were 4 electrical cords and I thought they were for people that wanted to avoid the battery costs. No such luck... Their "wireless cameras" have wires! It's terribly misleading to sell "wireless cameras" and then add a small blurb that says "ac adapters are included". My phone is wireless (batteries), wireless tools (batteries), wireless headphones (batteries), wireless doorbell (wireless), etc. Perhaps Night Owl is trying to redefine the term wireless. "Check out our new line of Night Owl wireless cameras that come complete with their own wires"... Would car manufacturers get away with the same advertising? " See our new 2022 fully loaded four wheel drive pickup which includes vinyl seats, crank up windows, cooling vents in lieu of air conditioning, am radio, void of those pesky air bags and rear wheel drive for great traction in the snow and on the trails"... I emailed Night Owl for a return authorization and they responded quickly but wanted me to pay for return shipping. When I emailed them back (twice) asking for a prepaid label because their ad was very misleading, all I received were crickets as they didn't respond at all. My next two letters will be to the FTC and the Attorney General's office. Save yourself the aggravation and stay away from this company! Their reviews speak for themselves.

I bought from Costco the NightOwl model IC82-9-JUN and is garbage. Everyweek goes offline and customer support told me to unplug it from electricity and reset it. When I told them is not normal they told me to buy a new one. When I asked for customer support they verified my email and sent me a link their website. DON'T BUY NIGHTOWL PRODUCTS

Installed their wired system as Micro Center said their customers were having issues with the wireless. Regardless, got it installed and downloaded the updated software. The cameras function with the DVR... however, the website has to be accessed in order to set the system. Cannot access the website. Have tried to reset the password several times to no avail. Tried the online chat feature and spent hours following their instruction. Received an e-mail message telling me to call their tech services number... nice girl with a heavy oriental accent (American Made in their literature?). After an hour or so worth of trying to dialogue, she sent me a link to their password reset tool. Still does not work. At this point I have responded back to her/their e-mail address advising it says this e-mail is already associated with an account and will not let me reset or access. The product probably is O. K.; but, their 24/7 tech support really, really SUCKS... Will wait to see if I get any response... but, if not, am taking the cameras and DVR back to Micro Center for a refund. It is sad because I think the equipment is O. K. but does not function for me due to their crappy tech support. Recommend you try another brand; this one is no good!

Update: Received an e-mail last night from the same tech service rep... She advised to not fill out the e-mail address on the website access page... That worked and was able to gain access to the website, reset the password and am now able to work with the settings. The website settings are a little mystifying at this point, but maybe will learn to work with. The imagery looks good and was able to figure out how to limit the screen image to just the four cameras installed at this point (you move the cable connections around until you identify slot #'s 1, 2, 3 & 4 on the receiver). Will try to update again as I gain some better understanding of the website.

You people have a lot of f****** Moxie or something to actually send me advertisements to buy more s*** from you when you don't want to stand behind your product that I bought before telling me I need to have the actual store receipt for you to repair the system that I bought don't want to stand behind your product and you want me to spend more money with you you f***** up in the head I have another Idea how about you stand behind your product and replace the system I bought and registered with you. Then I mite buy more if your products. But you telling me I need a $#*!ing receipt to prove I bought the dam thing is nothing short of a $#*!ing insult! And to add to it you have the audacity to send me emails to offer me the opportunity to buy more from you. Can you explain to me why I would ever buy anything from your company ever again. Do you think I would ever really buy any thing from you again? Are you that $#*!ing stupid or is it that you think I'm that stupid? I will tell everyone I know and given the chance anyone that's thinking about buying one of your products what I've experienced with you and I doubt anyone will buy any if your crappy products ever. After all who wants to buy from somebody that doesn't stand behind their products and uses bull $#*! like not having a receipt even when they registered the product with your company. I mean how many crooks are going to register something they stoled I mean really you and I use the term loosely people are messed up in the head and I'm really going to enjoy living a review on your site and if I go there and see you took it down when I go back to check I'll put a new one up in hope of saving anyone else have to go through all the $#*! Tech support awful
April 20, 2025

Tried to set my Night Owl system up per instructions. Kept saying I had an account with email and or phone # but I couldn't get in and it kept saying my password was wrong. Called Tech Support and between the language barrier of his lack of speaking good English was awful I couldn't understand him as he was Hispanic. So I just took it back where I bought it. Will try another security camera system
