I had a out her security system but it failed when something went on in front of my home. I saw night owl and the cost was in my price range. And ordered a night owl 8.0 4k HYBRID wired unit. It took a bit of drilling and running the cable about 3 hours for 4 camera's only because o ran it through the attic. After chating with support I couldn't believe the picture. It was very clear. Even at night. I have had it running for over a year 24/7 and have had no problems with it at all. Only check it if something happens. So today I thought I'd hook it up to my mobile phone. So I could watch my old dog when he's in the yard. Had problems getting it hooked on my phone. Called customer support again and the person I chated with was the most helpful customer service person I have ever delt with. Spent over a hour on chat with support. They walked me through the steps and was very understanding with me because I'm not good with computers and app on my phone. Thank you very much for the person that helped me. Now I can check on my dog all the time plus worry free system. Anyone thinking about getting a security system for a good price and outstanding support get a nightowl. And I have never had any problems around my home since I have this system. I don't ever write reviews but the person On chat support was so helpful. Thank you again support. SATISFIED CUSTOMER. Not worth the money. I've had trouble out of the Night Owl System for the whole two years I've had it. And Support Service is No Help. DO Not Buy and there battery is no Good πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡ only have 1 star cause that's the lowest rating I'm allowed to give. If they had a rating lower than 1 that's what I would given them. Just stay on hold for 18 minutes and 22 seconds and they hung up please do not buy. I purchased the $460 system and it a Complete Waste of money

Im on my 3rd NightOwl stand alone camera with motion detect, 2 way audio etc. Because the 1st 2 were even worse junk. These are the worst cameras and app around. Always disconnecting, never detecting anything of substance but you'll get a million damn notifications of ghosts or the wind or generally just to piss you off. Currently recovering from a nearly fatal attack that occurred right in front of the camera. Nobody was charged because the CAMERA DIDNT DETECT ANYTHING! And now I'm being stalked by a psychopath that the camera can never seem to get on recording. These cameras won't just make your life miserable they'll get you killed and the killer walks free. Don't be stupid. Buy a different product and never look at night owl trash again. They're crooks and accomplices to attempted murder and protecting a psychopath and every other criminal out there that means to harm you. Right in front of view and the camera did not see anything! 10,000 alerts a day for air. Thats only if by some miracle the camera stays connected to the wifi. 1st day is always active and then it just taunts and teases you with utter bull###t. Will not help you to save your life. I promise you that!. JUNK!

I don't know whats worse, the camera or the app. The camera is more useless but the app can be extremely annoying and delusional.

I purchased an 8 camera and HD DVR system a few years ago, the app has always been sub par but I dealt with it, recently I had an issue with logging into my system (password issues) and reached out to tech support as I have done in the past. Part of the reason this system was purchased was because it was advertised to come with lifetime 24/7 tech support. I was told when I contacted that they no longer support or offer any assistance for this system. Even a basic password reset. They refuse to allow you any sort of escalation process to see if any further solutions to a basic password reset can be made and continue to push you towards spending hundreds more on a new system. So my fully functional system is junk. The rep stated that every 4 to 6 years they will discontinue support of the older systems in order to force you to upgrade into a new system. BUYER BEWARE you will spend hundreds of dollars to have an unsupported brick in a few years.

Overall the system I purchased 4 wifi wire-free cameras and dvr are what I thought they would be. A little longer in the set-up due to poor step by step instructions, and laggy, even with the booster. We ended up searching on-line to figure out a step we missed that was not clear in the set-up instructions, but it connected when we did. Love the wire free flexibility. The app takes a few seconds to catch up, but you see everything you need to really well. I'm patient, unlike others in the instant gratification world. I purchased extra batteries/charger to begin any kind of rotation, but I expected that with the joy of wire-free. It fits what this simple family needed for security camera usage, without the monthly fee.

Tip for consumers:
It would be nice for Night Owl to offer step by step instructions as it applies to the product set up we purchased. It would have helped if they offered set up instructions in the product description to review before purchasing. I would have like to call someone, but we were installing on a Saturday and there really was no customer service number published for assistance. It's an average experience. Time will tell if I recommend this system or Night Owl the company to other people.

I have tried my best to keep my Home Secured by using "Night Owl" 16 camera systems and I just bought a "Night Owl DVR-FTD2-161" and haven't had it a week and found out that "Night Owl" was so much in a hurry to get there stuff out to sale it that they didn't do a complete system check and hook up all kinds of cameras that it says it can take and make sure all 16 cameras work without no problem because I have six cameras that the cameras didn't give a choice to use "Human,Vehicle,or Any Motion. They only let me use "Any Motion Only" pluse my cameras have "Spot Lights" on them and they wouldn't let me turn them on the six cameras neither. So why spend tons of money on something that doesn't " Work Correctly" that is also why Night Owl only gives a "One Year Warranty" because they don't care enough about there products to stand behind them longer. So do more research on "Companies" like "Night Owl" before you go bankrupt and make sure the company "Stands Behind There Products" more then "ONE YEAR"

Purchased 2 systems a few years ago. The 1st unit lasted lasted just after warrantee expired. Called support they basically told me I was sol. According to their tech support, the unit had bad hard drive. Purchased a hard new drive then installed it. Called back, the other tech support rep after diagnosis said the units mother board was ng. No recourse! 2nd unit out of box did not work on mobile devices. Well, the warrantee expired so once again sol. The bottom line is... If you want quality and good customer support when something goes bad, because it will with Night Owl. RUN far away from purchasing any of their products!

These cameras are actually pretty good when they actually work trying to get a hold of technical support is a hassle you wait on hold for hours only to be belittled disrespected yelled at and hung up on by their support team does not want to solve. The problem told me I was a moron because I couldn't get the DVR to work and that was the problem I was calling about because the DVR was not working

Finally got DVR back after 33 days at night owl shop being repaired. Reminder they said they would return it one day after receiving it. After a few days of use it's doing the same thing it was doing when I sent it to them. So the did nothing. They have the worst customer service I've ever delt with.

Buyer beware, Night Owl camera are GARBAGE! Don't waste your money
The products are garbage, the customer service is garbage and deplorable!
If you purchase these cameras YOU WILL BE SORRY FOR SURE. The DVR as well as the cameras DO NOT WORK and they will Not give you a replacement for any of the non working equipment or stand by their claim of a one year warranty!
I'm reporting their company to the better business association and also filing a complaint with my lawyer to start a court action against their company

Purchase at Walmart at 8am arrived home at 930 here it is almost 6 pm and still not up and running stuck on finding device 9% no more no less says log out reboot after multiple attempts call support get same run around log out restart nvr multiple times no help still at 9% so here their suggestion send it to them at my expense they will fix and send back.its brand new out the box fix what crappy craftsmanship I am returning to Walmart and expect full refund 411.69

I've bought 3 of these systems, the last one had one camera that would not work at night. I swapped it out, moved it, reset the system and it still wouldn't work at night. I tried to claim the warranty on it but Night Owl just wasted my time with run around. I think their goal is to make you give up in frustration, which I did after over an hour and chatting ( texting), then talking to a very condescending representative. The systems are pretty good for the money as long as you don't have to claim a warranty on it!

We purchased and on the second night the infrared went out. Spoke with Jason in May and would send us a new one. Nothing yet. Spoke again to day and the person didn't understand English wouldn't answer any questions and hung up on us. We will be returning our cameras to Walmart for a refund. Don't waste your money.

We bought this system when a power surge took out our 16 channel DVR. We've used it for over a year and I wanted to replace it within weeks of putting it in service but my wife protested spending more and she defended the app. The app works well but the DVR needs a hard reset(power removed)frequently to re-establish it's connection. When do you use the app? When you're AWAY from the DVR and can't unplug it. I am going to replace this junk and put it in a dumpster. Save your money!

I bought the Night Owl system with10 - 4K wireless cameras that they claim to be good for up to 300 feet away from their NVR, over a year ago for my normal residential stick frame home. After living with this system, most of the cameras regularly losing their signal, and having called their technical service people, they continue to give me rote answers that never solve this issue. I have gotten supervisors involved still not solvong these issues, just making excuses for their deceptive advertising. While there are other issues as well that I have commented/complained about, this company just makes stupid excuses for everything. I not only don't recomend this company, but quite frankly, they just suck.

Stay away from this company.

Terrible product and crap support.Wouldnt need so much support if it worked right,but forget it any way-at least 30 min on hold Before you get any help and half the techs are clueless anyway and have hung up on me because thy couldnt solve anything-yep,thats their solution.And now that I have had this piece of crap 3 yrs it is already getting glichy as if it needed to add glichy to its general crap function.What garbage.Never buy this crap.You will be sorry.I give one star because its required.Otherwise I give no stars.

The text in the app is a major flaw. It is unreasonably small and also gray against a black background nearly impossible to read during day. Seems a quick programmer fix and change. Program rocks, text, which is critical, fails.

Shame on you for selling faulty products Shame on you for having horrible customer service my cellphone has been my security camera my house has been shot up 5 different times and broken into 3 times and you won't help us with are cameras we spent a lot of money on these and you won't help us I'm a foster parent my kids need to be safe I have you use your cameras as decorations around the out side of my house

Phone app was fine then changed to not good. Selecting camera centers image cutting off most of the view. Zoom is beyond stupid, defies explanation. Support runs through same basic trouble shooting regardless of issue, same routine. Waste of time. Logs out randomly requiring a password whenever you just want to see what bump in the night was.

We purchased the wireless camera system because we have no way to run wires. Battery life according to the display was up to 6 mod for two batteries, and up yo 1 yr for four batteries. Batteries only lasted 48-72 hrs. I called customer service to complain, and after over2 hrs of going back and forth complaining, they sent new batteries. Same result. I told them that the cameras are not running non stop, but they kept arguing with me. I finally had enough and returned them. Never again will I purchase anything from them!

I bought this camera system December 2022. It worked great up until about 2 weeks ago. The app always say inactive. Did a chat with someone who started out very nice and then got very rude. Said I should have communicated better and I wouldn't be in this situation. Should have read the reviews before I ever purchased this product. This is the last time I buy anything with Nightowl again

I bought 3 wire-free cameras because I could not run power to them. The cameras will not hold a charge for more than 3-4 days. The advertising says they can hold it for 6 months. My experience with the service department has been awful. They don't care about their customers.
