Horrible system
October 3, 2023

The dvr has never worked since day one they keep telling me to check same thing power and it is fine. If I could give a 0* I would. The dvr is junk and they haven't sent me a new one so I can use the cameras I got. Been 2 years now

Worthless. Complete junk!

Im on my 3rd NightOwl stand alone camera with motion detect, 2 way audio etc. Because the 1st 2 were even worse junk. These are the worst cameras and app around. Always disconnecting, never detecting anything of substance but you'll get a million damn notifications of ghosts or the wind or generally just to piss you off. Currently recovering from a nearly fatal attack that occurred right in front of the camera. Nobody was charged because the CAMERA DIDNT DETECT ANYTHING! And now I'm being stalked by a psychopath that the camera can never seem to get on recording. These cameras won't just make your life miserable they'll get you killed and the killer walks free. Don't be stupid. Buy a different product and never look at night owl trash again. They're crooks and accomplices to attempted murder and protecting a psychopath and every other criminal out there that means to harm you. Right in front of view and the camera did not see anything! 10,000 alerts a day for air. Thats only if by some miracle the camera stays connected to the wifi. 1st day is always active and then it just taunts and teases you with utter bull###t. Will not help you to save your life. I promise you that!. JUNK!

Night owl is terrible

Terrible product and crap support.Wouldnt need so much support if it worked right,but forget it any way-at least 30 min on hold Before you get any help and half the techs are clueless anyway and have hung up on me because thy couldnt solve anything-yep,thats their solution.And now that I have had this piece of crap 3 yrs it is already getting glichy as if it needed to add glichy to its general crap function.What garbage.Never buy this crap.You will be sorry.I give one star because its required.Otherwise I give no stars.

Horrible service
July 24, 2023

I purchased a night owl four channel 1080p camera system and I have had it hooked up less than 6 months and it does not work. I have sent it in and had the DVR replaced three times and every time I get a defective item that doesn't work. They are unprofessional and are just a horrible company to buy from spend more money or the same amount to get a swann view system instead.

These outsourced customer service staff members can be very rude. Their replies are uninterested and unhelpful, very impatient and rude. If you want help better to just read the e brochure that they will email to you and try to get you to read it instead of bothering them. Better yet don't buy Night Owl products if you want genuine customer service help after you pay them!

Wouldn't buy again

Be prepared, when you run into problems, and you will have problems! When you call customer support, they tell you if your system is older than 2 years, they can not help you any longer! So I guess they expect you to figure it out on your own or buy a new system every other year. Lol

Don't buy whatever you do. The Techs and sales department are the rudest people I have ever delt with. No one ever answers customer service. I have no way to return what I bought. I guess I just threw away over 300 dollars. Doesn't matter if it is a good system or not if you have to deal with people like this and can't get service!

Speechless

I bought this camera system December 2022. It worked great up until about 2 weeks ago. The app always say inactive. Did a chat with someone who started out very nice and then got very rude. Said I should have communicated better and I wouldn't be in this situation. Should have read the reviews before I ever purchased this product. This is the last time I buy anything with Nightowl again

Do not buy this JUNK!

Purchased this for my parents house, after contacting the company to ensure internet wasn't necessary. Got it home, only to discover internet WAS required. Brought it to my home to setup, 12 hours later, 2 calls to their tech support, and I basically have a $300 dust collector. Tech support now tells me I need a tv or monitor to set up system. Box says no TV or Monitor required. Tech support speaks to you like you're ignorant because their advertisement on their box states opposite of what they're telling you. DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK

Cameras keep going out!

Called night owl And person keeps backtracking! Ask for supervisor and she wouldn't let me talk to one! She said give me your reason! She then said why you want to say hello! Her smart answer tells me this company doesn't care about customer service! I paid 600$ for this worthless system! Buyers beware is a scam and a ripoff!

They suck

These cameras are actually pretty good when they actually work trying to get a hold of technical support is a hassle you wait on hold for hours only to be belittled disrespected yelled at and hung up on by their support team does not want to solve. The problem told me I was a moron because I couldn't get the DVR to work and that was the problem I was calling about because the DVR was not working

The system has work most of the time... a few powersupply failures and a drive failure. Now I have a new phone with the latest Android OS...the NightOwl X App is not an option. Night Owl's suggested solution is to replace the entire system. REALLY?

I cannot talk to anyone to find out where to return it for my money back for a brand new worthless system. Do yourself a favor and do not but Night Owl products. I bought a brand new system and when I try to get to support they want you to signup for a years support before the will even talk to you. The cameras I have are labeled as 48V POE. I just happened to find buried in the cameras spec's they are labeled wrong. They are only 12 Volts. I needed to install Power Over Ethernet injectors Mid span and I wanted to verify the voltage. I can't talk or chat online with anyone until I signup and pay them. It's brand new! How stupid is this? I will find out somewhere how to get through and return this junk somehow...

This company has THE WORST customer support I have ever experienced. I purchased a security system about a years ago. Once I set up an account and give them my email address I began to get bombarded with ads to purchase additional products. I finally saw a product that caught my eye, it was a totally wireless, battery operated camera. The company claims that the batteries will last up to 6 months on a single charge so I bought it. My experience has been that a charge lasts 4-5 days. I've called CS 4-5 times and spoken to one apathetic, unprofessional rep after another. I've been told each time that every time the camera detects motion it reduces the charge life... but 4 days vs 6 months? I can't return the product because they're return policy is only 30 days so when I ask what they can do to help, the question is literally met with silence. I suggested to one guy that he send me two new batteries at no cost and I was told no. When I asked to speak to his supervisor he HUNG UP ON ME... wow.

The lesson here... if you're going to purchase Night Owl security products expect to be on your own.

Oh, also they wave American flags on their website and claim "totally owned and operated in the USA" but their customer support is overseas.

Purchased Night Owl 4 camera system from Costco. Package clearly showed Audio capability. It wasn't till the system was completely installed that it became apparent there is NO Audio capability. This was an extensive and expensive installation to complete, so I could not simply pull out the unit and return to Costco. Attempted to contact Night Owl and they refused to respond. Then, experienced connectivity problems with remote software for my PC. Again, attempted to obtain support - Zero. Recently tested them with the simplest question of all "which version of remote software is your most current?" Again, no response except the same thing they always do which is send an email asking for ALL my registration information again and again... it's all the same stuff they require when you first register the product, though they act like they don't have it. I fell for this a couple times then stopped, since they never respond Except that usually they send an email a week later asking me how Great their support was. It should be noted that Costco stopped carrying this in their store.

The worst
January 9, 2023

The latest night owl cameras, the night owl protect are the worst i have seen. I bought 3 of them and had to return all. #1 you can't control the recording setting or any setting because once you make changes and exit the program they go back to what they where., once you make the changes all those changes are lost, they go back to the original setting, technical support states they have to change the programs on their end, up date a new program and who knows when they will do that.
#2 all 3 cameras where constantly giving me false notifications and one the sd card did not stay in, tech support stated it was a bad camera., all day and all night i get vehicle detected or motion detected but there is no vehicle or motion, that is really annoying and it fills up the micro sd cars quickly.
#3 the customer service/ technical support is a joke, the agents do not speak english or understand english, one agent all he knew how to say was ok, ok, ok they hang up on you and have no clue most of them sound like they are just getting out of bed and speak with a low voice with lots of background noise. This company is a joke and should up date everything and everyone.
