It doesn't see side to side to fat at all. Or up and down. I'm very frustrated tbh. I like my old set I bought. I do not like the new ones I bought. They are wired. I uploaded a pic. For instance I cannot view my entire porch. OR the other side out front. Also they take a while to load and I have the highest wifi u can get. Scrolling through to find a video is hell. Not many good things I can say. I have tried customer service but they don't tend to get back to u either. The last set I had the view was a lil better but the dvr just stopped working out of nowhere.
Took forever for it to find the Bluetooth connection, then it kept failing to connect to my LAN. After 6 tries it said it had connected and was searching for updates. Froze up there, camera said it was in pairing mode and never worked again. Being returned tomorrow am!
This has got to be the most worthless system that I have purchased. POE cameras fail in two years.The hard drive at the shark around the same time. My old system lasted for 10 years. Junk and do not purchase.

The product, purchased twice, doesn't work out of the box, and when you try and contact customer service, assuming you can understand them, they offer no help of value. Currently returning the system and will never touch or go near their crap product again.
I bought my night owl about 10yrs ago. A couple weeks ago for some strange reason I lost access to my system. After no success on their troubleshooting website. I thought by contacting tech support for help that they would help. Unfortunately due to my surveillance being a little old they can't help me over the phone and referred me to their online website for help. So now I have to provide a receipt of purchase. Who actually has receipts from ten years ago. 🤦🏻
After days of searching we have found the night owl surveillance box however no receipt. Still Night Owl due to their company policies can't help me reset to regain access to my on my video cameras. If I am forced to buy a new system that I can't afford I will NEVER BUY NIGHTOWL AGAIN!
I purchased a system in 2020 and with all firmware updates it doesn't work and I can't afford new as recommended by their sales

Purchased this at Walmart yesterday installed everything. The very last camera goes up, and I find the last camera is not functional, does not power up at all. If one out of four is bad out of the box, a security system cannot be depended on with that type of dependability.

I purchased an 8 camera and HD DVR system a few years ago, the app has always been sub par but I dealt with it, recently I had an issue with logging into my system (password issues) and reached out to tech support as I have done in the past. Part of the reason this system was purchased was because it was advertised to come with lifetime 24/7 tech support. I was told when I contacted that they no longer support or offer any assistance for this system. Even a basic password reset. They refuse to allow you any sort of escalation process to see if any further solutions to a basic password reset can be made and continue to push you towards spending hundreds more on a new system. So my fully functional system is junk. The rep stated that every 4 to 6 years they will discontinue support of the older systems in order to force you to upgrade into a new system. BUYER BEWARE you will spend hundreds of dollars to have an unsupported brick in a few years.
Not worth the money. I've had trouble out of the Night Owl System for the whole two years I've had it. And Support Service is No Help. DO Not Buy and there battery is no Good 👇👇👇👇 only have 1 star cause that's the lowest rating I'm allowed to give. If they had a rating lower than 1 that's what I would given them. Just stay on hold for 18 minutes and 22 seconds and they hung up please do not buy. I purchased the $460 system and it a Complete Waste of money
They have become a terrible company to do business with. When they can't assist you, they hang the phone up. They said to do sp and chat with an agent, the so called agent is not available. They made the process so complicated for you to hoop up to a monitor, for what. What caused my system to go down in the first place. I think they create the problems to have people call them to keep them in business. Hopefully, people will soon leave and use someone else. Why was money with a company that does not want to help with support-they SucK!
Purchased 2 systems a few years ago. The 1st unit lasted lasted just after warrantee expired. Called support they basically told me I was sol. According to their tech support, the unit had bad hard drive. Purchased a hard new drive then installed it. Called back, the other tech support rep after diagnosis said the units mother board was ng. No recourse! 2nd unit out of box did not work on mobile devices. Well, the warrantee expired so once again sol. The bottom line is... If you want quality and good customer support when something goes bad, because it will with Night Owl. RUN far away from purchasing any of their products!
I bought years ago and that happened twice, i sent the picture with the dvr in my hands and they said just will recover my password if I send the purchasing document!. I dont have more the recipt of course!. So I losted two DVRs because they dont send me the recovery password!. So if you buy, never lost the recipt!...
Phone app was fine then changed to not good. Selecting camera centers image cutting off most of the view. Zoom is beyond stupid, defies explanation. Support runs through same basic trouble shooting regardless of issue, same routine. Waste of time. Logs out randomly requiring a password whenever you just want to see what bump in the night was.
We purchased the wireless camera system because we have no way to run wires. Battery life according to the display was up to 6 mod for two batteries, and up yo 1 yr for four batteries. Batteries only lasted 48-72 hrs. I called customer service to complain, and after over2 hrs of going back and forth complaining, they sent new batteries. Same result. I told them that the cameras are not running non stop, but they kept arguing with me. I finally had enough and returned them. Never again will I purchase anything from them!
Overall the system I purchased 4 wifi wire-free cameras and dvr are what I thought they would be. A little longer in the set-up due to poor step by step instructions, and laggy, even with the booster. We ended up searching on-line to figure out a step we missed that was not clear in the set-up instructions, but it connected when we did. Love the wire free flexibility. The app takes a few seconds to catch up, but you see everything you need to really well. I'm patient, unlike others in the instant gratification world. I purchased extra batteries/charger to begin any kind of rotation, but I expected that with the joy of wire-free. It fits what this simple family needed for security camera usage, without the monthly fee.
I've bought 3 of these systems, the last one had one camera that would not work at night. I swapped it out, moved it, reset the system and it still wouldn't work at night. I tried to claim the warranty on it but Night Owl just wasted my time with run around. I think their goal is to make you give up in frustration, which I did after over an hour and chatting ( texting), then talking to a very condescending representative. The systems are pretty good for the money as long as you don't have to claim a warranty on it!
I bought this because Costco sold it. No surprise Costco doesn't sell it anymore. I have always had problems connecting remotely, was never stable or reliable. Stupid me still trusted and purchased the door bell. What a joke. You need a different app for the doorbell, what is the point? Door bell never stays connected, is always spinning. The cameras basically were only useful for live views, since I work in the back of the house I can look at the monitor (since remote connectivity never was stable), and I can see if someone pulls into my driveway. Thats it. No other use. I had to change the recording setting to constant, because the motion never picked up all the motion, only sometimes so many times I didn't get to playback what I wanted to see. Really terrible. I should have bought a Ring or Google Doorbell. Those are both great.
Well the system itself is good. However if you have a problem with a camera and need it replaced, It is the worst nightmare of acrobats that they Put you through, that you can imagine.Was not able to find anybody that could speak English clearly it was a nightmare trying to decipher the service representatives instructions unacceptable under any circumstances there are Rude which calls me to be ugly right back the cameras and the system I bought is out the door,I will buy another security system it will be a smart light and night out will never be in my house again
