If I could give the product a 0 I would have. The camera motion sensors advertise that they can even differentiate between objects and humans, but on the wireless do not even give you the option to catch any motion.
The doorbell is horrible. I have tried to get a doorbell camera replaced under warranty for three months and gotten nothing but a runaround. At one point they stated they were sending a replacement. When it did not come I called and they said the warranty group decided I needed to update the firmware. I did what they asked and it still does not hold a signal. It goes in and out and is constantly announcing "Doorbell is ready for use", but never really does. I have been in the security business for over 30 years, dealing with top end business camera systems right down to companies like Arlo, Q-See, Lorex and many others. Night Owl has by far been the worst to deal with.
We purchased and on the second night the infrared went out. Spoke with Jason in May and would send us a new one. Nothing yet. Spoke again to day and the person didn't understand English wouldn't answer any questions and hung up on us. We will be returning our cameras to Walmart for a refund. Don't waste your money.
I bought 3 wire-free cameras because I could not run power to them. The cameras will not hold a charge for more than 3-4 days. The advertising says they can hold it for 6 months. My experience with the service department has been awful. They don't care about their customers.

If you purchase these cameras YOU WILL BE SORRY FOR SURE. The DVR as well as the cameras DO NOT WORK and they will Not give you a replacement for any of the non working equipment or stand by their claim of a one year warranty!
I'm reporting their company to the better business association and also filing a complaint with my lawyer to start a court action against their company

I've purchased the cameras system 8 cameras plus monitor in BestBuy. On the box it's clearly said that there's audio, there isn't. Also my cameras didn't record at all, when i finally called the support i was over an hour with them and the support person talked extremely fast so i needed him to repeat. Ended that he's telling me "im telling you what to do 3 times and you ask me what to do, thank you for calling NightOwl support have a good day" and hang the phone. Please don't chose this company
The text in the app is a major flaw. It is unreasonably small and also gray against a black background nearly impossible to read during day. Seems a quick programmer fix and change. Program rocks, text, which is critical, fails.
The amount of back and forth to try to get this system to work is an absolute joke. You have to go through a ridiculous amount of work to SET UP the system, the router and the DVR box have to be close enough to connect the two- which I had NO idea when we were renovating our home, so we have extra holes in our house to achieve this feat. The LIVE feed takes at least 3+ minutes to load, forget about trying to look at any other camera angle within a decent amount of time either. We live in a fairly remote area, but verified that the WiFi we have would be MORE than sufficient to use this system. I feel that, somewhere along the way, that was a lie. I hate this system and am out hundreds of dollars, lesson learned- we will be replacing this system with one that is guaranteed to work with our WiFi or their monitoring system is an option, with decent customer support available. I would NOT recommend this product- Save yourself some time and frustration!

I had a out her security system but it failed when something went on in front of my home. I saw night owl and the cost was in my price range. And ordered a night owl 8.0 4k HYBRID wired unit. It took a bit of drilling and running the cable about 3 hours for 4 camera's only because o ran it through the attic. After chating with support I couldn't believe the picture. It was very clear. Even at night. I have had it running for over a year 24/7 and have had no problems with it at all. Only check it if something happens. So today I thought I'd hook it up to my mobile phone. So I could watch my old dog when he's in the yard. Had problems getting it hooked on my phone. Called customer support again and the person I chated with was the most helpful customer service person I have ever delt with. Spent over a hour on chat with support. They walked me through the steps and was very understanding with me because I'm not good with computers and app on my phone. Thank you very much for the person that helped me. Now I can check on my dog all the time plus worry free system. Anyone thinking about getting a security system for a good price and outstanding support get a nightowl. And I have never had any problems around my home since I have this system. I don't ever write reviews but the person

Finally got DVR back after 33 days at night owl shop being repaired. Reminder they said they would return it one day after receiving it. After a few days of use it's doing the same thing it was doing when I sent it to them. So the did nothing. They have the worst customer service I've ever delt with.
Customer service sucks, gives you the run around. Won't let you talk to warranty dept. This company is a joke! They lie to you and refuse to give straight answers.
I have had 4 cameras lose infrared(ir) capability. They make me dismount the cameras and move to new location. About 1 hour effort with ladders. Then i have to change ports to test. Once i jumped through all their hoops, Then they took about 3 weeks to send new camera. They claim to have a computer based program that i can manage the dvr. It has never worked. They say engineers know of the glitch and will notify me when it is fixed. Been 1 year no fix. Sales people say it works, but everyone knows it does not.
Phone app allows viewing live and recordings. No way in phone app to play recordings continuosly. No fast forward. Have to view them 1 snipet at a time at real time.
I wish i had seen F rating on BBB before i purchased night owl.
I bought the Night Owl system with10 - 4K wireless cameras that they claim to be good for up to 300 feet away from their NVR, over a year ago for my normal residential stick frame home. After living with this system, most of the cameras regularly losing their signal, and having called their technical service people, they continue to give me rote answers that never solve this issue. I have gotten supervisors involved still not solvong these issues, just making excuses for their deceptive advertising. While there are other issues as well that I have commented/complained about, this company just makes stupid excuses for everything. I not only don't recomend this company, but quite frankly, they just suck.
We bought this system when a power surge took out our 16 channel DVR. We've used it for over a year and I wanted to replace it within weeks of putting it in service but my wife protested spending more and she defended the app. The app works well but the DVR needs a hard reset(power removed)frequently to re-establish it's connection. When do you use the app? When you're AWAY from the DVR and can't unplug it. I am going to replace this junk and put it in a dumpster. Save your money!
Purchase at Walmart at 8am arrived home at 930 here it is almost 6 pm and still not up and running stuck on finding device 9% no more no less says log out reboot after multiple attempts call support get same run around log out restart nvr multiple times no help still at 9% so here their suggestion send it to them at my expense they will fix and send back.its brand new out the box fix what crappy craftsmanship I am returning to Walmart and expect full refund 411.69
This will be my second dvr first one stopped working and now the second one is doing the same thing. It won't let me view my cameras from my phone when I am not home something to do with the connection on the dvr for the Wi-Fi port I think fails on them. Going to go with zosi camera dvr and see if it's better sure it has to be.
There are 3 problems with Night Owl Wireless camera system. First, they advertise batteries will last a month or 2. That's a huge lie even with 4 batteries I only get a week to a week and a half worth of use before they need to be recharged. Second, if there's a problem you need to reset the entire system which means reairing all the cameras. This gets old fast. Last you can not install the software on a tablet. I will say that they have decent tech support which is the only plus I can offer.
Cameras constantly say no signal, even bought Night Owl suggested stronger Antennas and still no signal. The app is always experiencing problems as well, we have the set with the speakers to hear and speak which is so garbled.
Shame on you for selling faulty products Shame on you for having horrible customer service my cellphone has been my security camera my house has been shot up 5 different times and broken into 3 times and you won't help us with are cameras we spent a lot of money on these and you won't help us I'm a foster parent my kids need to be safe I have you use your cameras as decorations around the out side of my house
The dvr has never worked since day one they keep telling me to check same thing power and it is fine. If I could give a 0* I would. The dvr is junk and they haven't sent me a new one so I can use the cameras I got. Been 2 years now
