Our community is in the process of a recall of two trustees. ND admins are interfering with the process because they are friends with the people being recalled. They take down pro recall posts that have not broken any rules, suspended pro recall accounts and promoted misinformation. It's been reported to ND and they have done absolutley nothing.
Why do I need to import my friends' info to join? They do not live in my current neighborhood. They are in another state. I wouldn't want anyone giving my info out, and I respect their privacy as well.
And why are the reviews so low for the site?
I have been a member of Nextdoor for about 5 years. I can assure you that while they claim politics posts aren't allowed, if they support the narrative of the left, no problem. I created a group on the site of conservatives (which was private) and that group of 400 was removed without warning or good explanation from Nextdoor. In the past I have been temporarily tossed about 5 times for innocuous posts that go against the progressive narrative, and I have also been temporarily tossed for using the wrong address, and using the wrong name. Even though I have always used my correct name and have lived in the same neighborhood for a decade. My posts there are as cordial as this review. Most moderators who are picked are heavily left. This site is a Socialist echo chamber. The Internet wasn't supposed to be this way. That's a real shame.
I think it is a great tool for a lot of people. I do feel a lot of people abuse the sure and only use it to complain, all for someone for free, or to be a bully to someone. This is the 2nd town I've been on nextdoor with. This town is horrible on Nextdoor compared to where I came from. I think it needs some clear guidelines set.
1/4 is jackwads complaining about anything and everything, 1/4 is lost pets and what is the animal insect of the day, 1/4 is thefts in the area and 1/4 might be slightly helpful and/or interesting... Junk overall... Unless you want to weed through the junk.
Nextdoor discriminates... I put up a post announcing a Carnival at a local Chick fil A Restaurant... they were offering complimentary sno cones, games, crafts, community booths and milk a cow. I live in the inner city of St. Louis, Mo and this (I thought) would be a great opportunity for parents to take their kids... so I posted the announcement... I immediately started receiving derogatory replies from members of the LGBT Community and my post was flagged and removed. I reposted x2 more times. Then the Lead LGBT member complained to the Nextdoor Staff and they supported the removal of the post. The LGBT Community took offense at the post because it was Chick fil A and Nextdoor agreed they had the right to have the post taken down. Nextdoor is not good for the neighborhood... they support discrimination and I can no longer be an active member of their site.
I very much appreciate being informed about close neighborhood actives. Our local paper stinks so I rely some what on what going on in my neighborhood. But I don't enjoy that ranting that sometimes goes on and on. Oh FYI I find these robot "rematch" rediculous
I had posted an incident of road rage. I was able to take a photo of the car and license plate. It was removed in less than five minutes. Someone else posted a road rage. It wasn't removed. I think that the car I took a photo of belonged to one of the leads, or family or kids or friends. It's supposed to be informative but even one of the leads doesn't live in the neighborhood, doesn't have a home in the neighborhood. Actually she lives out of the country! These leads are a bunch of step ford wives that are just bored and love have the power of a sometimes informative website.
I got banned years ago when a neighbor called my kids a liar when they were attacked by a dog. A witness driving by stopped and saved them. The police were involved the dog was put down. She said there was no way those dogs would do that. Guess the courts disagreed. The dog ran off the property and attacked on the sidewalk while they were walking to school. I called the defaming lady out on Nextpoor and within a day Nextdoor banned me permanently. So yeah Nextdoor is ridiculious.
It's nice to get information on what's going on around our area.not much on latley to see. There's alot of stuff that happen's around here that does not get told.the new's paper or evening new's don't know either.we have alot of speeder's, some stealing, and trashie place's that are driving are property value's down and no one does a thing about anything.
I unsubscribed from notifications, not even joking, 5 times. Finally got fed up and logged in to turn them off again and I found FORTY ONE individual notification setting I had to manually turn off. The incessant chirping from this app lives on in my nightmares :D for the love of god, whoever thought that this is an acceptable marketing tactic lacks empathy full stop.
A whole gamut people expressing racist attacks, complaints that nobody can do anything about (eg, strangers in the neighborhood), but also sharing of services, giveaways, things that might be useful. Not that often that I see things that make me feel better about my area, or that seem likely to help me or my neighbors. But a recent thread I started gave me a good feeling about my neighbors & specifically those who took the time to LIKE or REPLY.
If you report a lead for abuse, they tell the lead you reported them, which sets you up for more abuse.
Our Leads are HOA board members who are being questioned about various issues such as $50k missing, hundreds of thousands of dollars in no-bid contracts being awarded, etc. Several of us who have referenced the issues and asked questions have been singled out for retaliation, slander, etc. leads/HOA board members have — without explanation or saying a word — arbitrarily and capriciously deleted users' posts to dishonestly manipulate a narrative. Several community members have been suspended without having violated Nextdoor TOS, when in fact it is the Nextdoor Leads and community reviewers (former board members and relatives) who are violating TOS. RUN, do not walk, from this toxic site
This is the biggest joke ever can't voice any opinions or you get a message from Tenisha telling you that you can't do that then they block you who do you think you are who gives you the right to dictate oh you have no right
Everything went great from beginning to end. Boyko communicated well with reserving our party. When I arrived on the date of the event, the front staff were very helpful with making sure my decoration where brought in. Our waiters were awesome. Michele was AMAZING, very attentive and pleasant. We NEVER had to look for help. The food was GREAT ( thanks chefs). You MUST try the lamb chops. Atmosphere was just was perfect. Thank you EVERYONE soooo much for making our class 25th yr X-mas event a success.
Created ad which came back with an error message. No ad created. No ad on dashboard. No receipt for charge. Charged $10 with no explanation. No phone on webpage. No email on webpage. Do not load your payment information.
So Streetlife sold out to Nextdoor and as a result have misused our personal data by breaching the UK DPA on many counts. I would urge anyone who finds themselves on Nextdoor to deactivate/unsubscribe as Nextdoor's only real motivation is marketing by sharing unauthorised data. On this basis I would also not trust their ability to keep your data secure, so if you happen to use a common password now might be a good idea to change it, at least on Nextdoor's web site
If your nextdoor neighborhood has members who have to be right and have to have the last word and if you disagree with them,... you can banned from the nextdoor site
This is more so if the members you disagree with may be friendly with the admins
Very disappointed in the site because:
A. There was no group for our subdivision so THEY assigned me to people I don't know and don't live in my immediate area.
B. There is zero online live customer service. I had to write a letter to their HQ to be removed.
C. My name and address were displayed to those people that THEY assigned me to. There was no way for me to opt out of that neighborhood, it did allow me to remove other neighborhoods but always left me in a neighborhood where I knew no one and there was no way to opt out of that. As a single woman, I don't want strangers to know where I live, who lives there, etc.
Have you noticed that there is no ability to review it on Google? Humm, I wonder if that was planned?
I was on Nextdoor for a long time, then I made the mistake of speaking up about a petition someone was trying to get people to sign. He was spreading false information regarding the issue the petition was for and so I spoke up and gave him facts.
The people who didnt agree with me reported me as allegedly not using my real name. So next door kicked me off.
Did they think I was not using my real name because they were trying to come find me? Were they just being jerks and tried to silence me?
Either way... nextdoor just shut me down and now I have no voice. I was being civil and staying in the guidelines of the site, but nextdoor just let them have the last word by believing their claim. Now they want me to jump thru a bunch of hoops to get back on.
Screw that!
DO NOT SIGN UP FOR SITES THAT DO THIS!
Now, not only am I not able to use this resource, but I fear for my safety!
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
