I was in the middle of a thread about Covid and challenged the local administrator because he commented on a another person's post that he would not tolerate "misinformation". I challenged him as a self appointed fact checker. That's when he identified himself as the local administrator with 20 years of IT experience. I guess that was supposed to impress me, it did not. I continued to challenge his decision that the lady's post was misinformation. He then claimed that my profile was not complete. The next thing I knew I was locked out of Nextdoor. I really don't care as I was going to close my account because of his arbitrary censorship. I guess he feels powerful because he had the ability to censor me. This is the country we have become, when an insecure tech geek can bully others through social media censorship.
I cannot read the messages people send me to private I am thinking to close my account and open it again, I am so frustrated that there is no way to communicate and nothing seem to work to fix the problem.
So l am a handicap vet of 2 branches of the military, The Army and Airforce and a cop of 26 years. So this Karen came on to my post and attacked me so I logically defended myself. I didn't use profanity or insult, I followed the guidelines of their policy and I won the argument. So she didn't like that and she reported me! If she didn't like it she could have gone to an another post and not read mine! I'm going to the Supreme Court, the BBB and the World Trade Commission for this one! What happened to freedom of speech and expression! I'm going to report this!
Ryan deputy from presidential exteriors came to my house to give a quote for windows replacement. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He knew his responsibility and did a excellent job to explain and to demonstrate windows feature and financial plan
This is the 2nd time I need to report Nextdoor. The site will go down just randomly for days to a week at a time. Changing passwords never works. Their replies offer useless help, despite my stating the specific error code. They just care about your data to sell; the site itself is a mere way to get your data.
I'm on our HOA board and the information that is distributed is basically for our subdivision. Therefore most of the info is restricted to just our subdivision. However on a wider scale the neighborhoods have been successful in overcoming some zoning requests that would adversely affect our area.
Wish there was a way that those that have moved out of our subdivision could be removed from our group.
Unable to open up messages, pictures or to reply. Geek squad says it is on Nextdoor end. E-mails are sent broken up. When I try to open up anything in Nextdoor, I get a notice that comes up: Error or unavailable.
Next Door is a site that provides a platform for your racist and white supremacist neighbors to threaten you with violence. It is everything wrong with the country today. The KKK and the Nazis love it!
Censorship, data mining and don't care about their mission. They say no local businesses can sell or advertise yet they allow big box stores with 15k a month invested on their feed. Question a policy and they removed you. They also don't keep info private and spam you.
I was kicked off because of some discruntal neighbors after I moved to Tennessee. I lived in my home for 38 years and I was an advocate for the neighborhood. But yet they said for safety reasons, well is that not a joke! I was shocked and disappointed to not being able to communicate with neighbors and friends that I have known for many years. But there lose because my new gated community I will not be an advocate for them. Becomes to judge mental by leads. Thanks for this opportunity to voice our opinions.
As a very early user of Nextdoor, I found the service to be useful for neighborhoods. However I've found some unilateral change decisions to be poor for my use and my neighborhood, and web site bugs I've reported have been prioritized low and never corrected. And over the last year or two I've found an increase in focus for ads or other non-neighborhood-specific content, which certainly might make Nextdoor some money, but does no real good for the neighborhood.
The moderators are petty and so are many of the neighbors who post on it. Most neighbors are not on it because of unprofessional and extremely bias actions of some self appointed leads. I am not sure how one becomes a lead but some are overtly petty. Don't bother unless you need drama.
I love Nextdoor. Thanks to Nextdoor, I know who the racists are in my neighborhood. I also know who has enough time on their hands to report all the "suspicious" people that happen to walk past their house during the course of the day. I never knew there were that many paranoid people living in such close proximity. If you report posts for racial profiling, which is strictly prohibited according to Nextdoor guidelines, the poster is notified. This does nothing but rally the racists who then like to gang up on the minority of nonracists. Thanks to Nextdoor, I also know which households "have a gun and aren't afraid to use it". I can't thank Nextdoor enough for empowering paranoid, gun toting racist with nothing better to do then stare out the window all day. If you are afraid of any person that happens to be in your neighborhood that does not have the same skin tone as you, this is the app for you.
Our neighborhood has been using Nextdoor for about a year and a half. It has helped to build community, and is a great way for people let their neighbors know about crime going on in the neighborhood. I also love it because the Police Department can post urgent messages to those neighborhoods under their jurisdiction.
I read some of the low ratings and I just don't agree. Nextdoor is not a platform to complain about your HOA or other neighbors. It is not a platform to express your political views. That's what Facebook is for. If you want to complain about your HOA, ask your lead to create a private group so that neighbors who want to complain can do so without inflicting their negativity on everyone else.
Next Door is absolutely the WORST thing. That has ever happened to to our HOA of 4,700 members. They remove post that do not agree with their thinking. It is controlled by one faction. They remove posts that they do not agree with. They are biased and are protected by corporate ND. If you criticize a lead or a moderator, you are gone! ND has no social conscience! They are a disgrace.

My mailer says "... Neighbor". Really? And, then the mailer has a person's name from a street in my neighborhood as if that person knows me, which they don't, and as if that is enough to entice me to join!
This is not what my neighborhood needs.
I am frustrated with the time it is taking to resolve the photo issue in groups. The group officers are ready to change for the third time and the picture of a officers from three-years ago is still on the site versus the current officers.
I think it's ridiculous you have to use your own name along with your address. What is there is a creep on their? Then they know where you live! What if you post suspicious people and the suspicious people are your neighbors and their is retribution? Ridiculous.
I signed up for Nextdoor on May 26,2023. After achieving no results, I deactivated my business account on June 21,2023. The payments are recurring, but once you deactivate your account, they're not supposed to charge you their monthly fee. I wasn't charged in June, but yesterday on 7/24, they charged me. My bank is currently trying to get my non-authorized payment returned. I would not recommend Nextdoor for your advertising needs especially if you're a small business. I now believe they're a scam.
I would like it to be easier for people who are not tech savvy. I find it hard to get more of the info i want and less of the information I am not interested in. And how to get to a spot on the site that will show me where to go to find out what to do to solve this
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
