When you sign up the default is to display your COMPLETE address! You are never told that this is the case, unless you happen to click on your profile and even then you have to look for it. Horrifying. Don't join, very creepy folks on here looking for information on you... I got some weird messages I couldn't track down. All bad.
If you do not conform to the ideology of the alphabet groups, Democrat lawlessness or visitors from the South of the border and kneel to the sites fascism than the moderators will regularly boot you out for having a difference of opinion. They usually just call you a racist and block your account. You can't talk about local neighborhood politics or even crime on this site if it offends the moderators or if it shows images of minorities committing crimes. The moderators will lie and say the algorithm is what gets you kicked out, but you will find out very fast it is the moderators with God like egos that are kicking those off the site that do not agree with their fascist ideology. This site has nothing to do with neighborhoods if you are restricted what you can say about news in your neighborhood. I hope someone with enough money comes along and puts this site out of business with a real neighborhood site.
This site can be very valuable. Lots of personal experience with contractors - who to use and who NOT to use. Unfortunately there are people who clearly need attention and will post dribble after dribble. Also there are lots of rude people on here. I spend a large amount of time muting them and their negativity!
This app is basically an online chamber of commerce cheerleading for local businesses which how the corp makes it money... off ads.
As for the "social" aspect, it seems to attract the uneducated, the leftists and the sad and angry all looking to $#*! on someone. I got on and cancelled within a year. Never miss it.
Several neighbors of mind and I have finally realized how terrible Nextdoor truly is. They want all of your information and are even more invasive than Facebook. They want you to use your full real name and your full real address and set yourself up at risk. Basically want you to have zero privacy but they want all of your own personal information so that they can be free to sell it to marketing companies and make tons of money. It's absolutely ridiculous. I would avoid them at all costs. Don't give them an ounce of your information and don't respond to their stupid postcards that they send you.
The nextdoor app is a great way to keep up on what's happening in your area and surrounding areas. It's a way to keep you informed as to the good or bad things happening around you, so you know what to look out for. It's a way to connect with people that care about keeping their children and neighborhood safe.
It works for reuniting animals with their owners, finding the right person for jobs around the house, a place to find things for sale-all around good app.
Nextdoor has proven to be an incredible source of local information, resources, suggestions and all-around gems of information. When we were new to the area, it was our go-to forum to ask questions and find our way around our new community. And now, we get to return the favor to other newcomers. It's a winner!
This is a far left app just like Facebook! People on here complain about everything and if you confront them they gang up on you and get you kicked off without warning and nobody will contact you nor is there anyone to contact! These people can say anything they want to you and get away with it.
After using the site I became a lead and tried to get a neighborhood watch started, people I thought had integrity were made leads and during a personal incident and my time away those individuals choose to slander my family remove me as a lead and jeopardize the safety of my family by allowing my address to be public.
NextDoor is an idea with great promise. Unfortunately, the promise never materialized for me. I tried to create a "neighborhood" for our condo association, but instead ND preempted my efforts and dumped me into a "neighborhood" that covers about 10 square miles and bears no relationship to a cohesive neighborhood. And they have made it essentially impossible to create the real neighborhood for our condo. The only "benefit" from ND is the privilege of receiving a bunch of unwanted ads. Yuck!
We had a pool built last August and asked our pool builder, should we have the Travertine sealed; He replied yes, if you don't want it to stain. We asked him who should we call. He said, Carolina Sealing Xperts was the only company in Charlotte that actually knows what there doing. We called and Mr. Neil Shepard came out and explained what, why and how. I found Mr. Shepard to be very professional, easy to talk to and very honest. We hired them to clean and seal our decking. My husband and I are thrilled with the results and would recommend this company to anyone that wants or needs there travertine deck sealed. Friends had there deck sealed by another pool builder and destroyed there travertine. We explained and they hired Mr. Shepard to fix there travertine decking.
Thank You, Neil

I was a member of next-door and really enjoyed it. I gave away plants for free and tired to sell some. They suspended my account and their reason was because it was viewed as a business. WOW, really! Selling a few plants is considered a business. I called Senator Nielsen and complained to his staff. They thought it was unfair too and gave me Nextdoors address in San Francisco to write a complaint letter. I never wrote a letter because it would of been a waste of time. They said I could request to have my account re-opened in 2 months but I never did. I am done with them! Now no one will ever get a free plant again thanks to them.
Commented on a post for someone asking for gofundme donations to help Bury a family member. Seeking $5000 to cover burial costs. I suggested looking into creamation since it's costs are much much less than traditional burial cost. My post was deleted with no explanation. Is Putin in charge of the administrators cause it sure seems they are power oriented.
I have complained openly and via email and forms and Nextdoor for not bother to research and review the very well documented concerns in and others have put forth. I have so many screen shots and emails in regards of on this and have sent it off but they refuse to do anything. If they refuse to act upon the multitude of information I and others have submitted to them then they must condone and by lack of taking care of the issue they condone it. Now when you question them they will ignore you via the forms and email and refuse to respond.
This is a toxic environment, the "staff" are not properly trained and abuse is rampant.
I have many, MANY screen shots and emails I would gladly share with anyone who asks and they will be unedited.
My career has led to a number of long-distance relocations, meaning we have to connect with new neighbors, services and communities. NextDoor.com has been a great help to us, in communities from California to Michigan.
While a few curmudgeonly types may participate, the vast majority of people involved on NextDoor.com have (in our experience) been warm, helpful, community-minded and friendly.
I highly recommend NextDoor.com!
Please reconsider being a member of ND. The hate and prejudice that is allowed and supported by the platform and the leads is standard operation practice.if you hold a different view point then the collective you will be kicked off as punishment. Interesting, when kicked off for a bit, ND allows others to continue to bash you but you can't respond. The most important issue to consider before using this platform is you much agree with the collective... think like... feel like... act like the collective, if you don't the collective has your name, your address, perhaps go to the same stores. And it bleeds over. ND poses more danger to users the. Twitter or Facebook. If you want to feel comfortable and safe in your neighborhood, do not become a member of ND... just click past
Nextdoor is full of bullies and petty power hungry weirdos. There was a man bashing a business and had the owner on her knees. She explained the misunderstanding, yet people kept posting, saying they will never go there again. It was ridiculous. I know the business, and never had a problem. Of course the man never a[apologized. He loved the drama. That is why he posted on the first place.
A few people stood up for the business, and I "liked" those posts to show my support for the business, the owner, and her unnecessary explanation.
Next thing I know I was canned for posting a photograph of a bird in our neighborhood. I accidentally used a nick name. I did not know that was against the rules., It was still my real name. Now, Just locked out and they threw away the key.
Not very neighborly if you ask me.
UGH
If you like to be in the know about what your neighbors are up to, just check into Nextdoor! But, if you can't be bothered with trivial rants about somebody's missing cat, or dogs barking all night; then, you might not like reading the Nextdoor posts. Just saying...
Experience has been quite good. Sending the postcards to invite new members to join is easy. I also like the changes to the daily "newsletter" that puts all the realtor and seller stuff at the end where I don't have to scroll through it unless I want to.
Lack of transparency, letting people speak and propagate their hate, they apparently allow public name calling, they allow scam accounts, suspend people without telling them why, suspend people for standing up for themselves in their neighbors for doing the right thing, this company should be ashamed of themselves.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
