I was kicked off the nextdoor app after I reported my neighborhood lead of deleting posts concerning a traffic calming project in our neighborhood. She was deleting posts myself and other neighbors made because of her biased opinion on the matter. After reporting her to the help center, I received an email back from Grace which only stated that she would look into it but that these managers are long term. On the bottom of the email it said to rate my opinion on the help center and I put poor. Within minutes I was no longer able to go on my account and when I contacted them via email they told me that it was suspended for public shaming. Following is the copy of what I posted that they considered public shaming.

That would be our lead April Espana deleting posts. As for the traffic calming, there is none. Maybe they are waiting for people to just give up and stop talking about it. Then they will hold a meeting that we wont go to. Thats when theyll vote in their favor.

I joined Nextdoor Desert Hills in Phoenix, AZ. Be warned that, if you are a Trump supporter, and an NRA supporter, and you voice your beliefs, even when backed by research and studies, you will be harassed and abused, including by so-called leads. You have the option to report people. I don't like it and I don't do it, but I do leave reviews.
For safe topics, it is a good app, although people don't seem to sell much through it in my neck of the woods. But you can't beat it for lost pets.

DO NOT JOIN!
February 13, 2022

Never joined this site and I do not know who signed me up or why. My inbox was inundated every day with feeds I did not care about or want. Despite hitting unsubscribe 100x, I got welcome letters, etc., which I responded to with obscenities, hoping to get kicked off. That did not work. Tried to "deactivate" with no luck. NOTHING worked until I posted my gofundme page because I have cancer. Somebody "reported" me and FINALLY I got kicked off for good! Thank God! Nice neighbors, too, in this dump of a town where I live.

Safety not a concern
January 3, 2016

I can no longer support this website. Our neighborhood has a member who posts personal information about other neighbors. She was removed from the site, but was allowed back on. And to make things worse, Nextdoor allowed her to be a Lead so she can control the content on the site.

I have since removed my account.

I wonder how many Karen's on a daily sit at their computers dissecting our names and if they don't deem it to be correct we get reported and our accounts get disabled haha! What a fu#king joke. And only a Liberal site would allow them to commit such an atrocity I think with their 2.4 rating they actually feel important enough to oust users that the KAREN'S have reported

This is absolutely the worst app yet! It clearly states that there's no bashing and no slandering, but they continue to let this happen time and time again. I don't understand it, they are suppose to help you feel safe and help you with community issues, but really all this app does is cause drama. I've been threatened and bullied and I am tired of it. My neighbor behind me is the most abusive! I get it's okay to have an opinion, but there's a difference between an opinion and bashing. I've seen it for several months now, against people, mostly those who volunteer for the community. These people are being bashed for caring about their community. I've reported it but nothing helps. I have tried deleting the business page I personally set up because I am closing my business down, but have been told I cannot do that? I claimed the business and set up the page! I should be able to delete it. I give up on this app and the community I live in.

They don't seem to have an issue with political postings with soap-boxing, ranting and name calling even though the people are shown again and again violating common tenets of the Nextdoor Community Guidelines, but when someone has undue inflouence on the supposed anonymous community leads, they will apply penalties as they wish. Nextdoor needs to own guideline enforcement and not leave it to a bunch of untrained, unpaid administrators

Great Tool for Community Sharing
May 30, 2019

I recently had an excellent experience with Next Door trying to track down a second hand computer for a low income student with whom I work. Not only was a computer donated, but I got some excellent advice on Comcast internet program for low income families. It took me about a day to put all this together!

All it takes is one halfcocked degenerate to twist everything around with a post, and you are out. No investigation, no inquiry, no being able to face your accuser, or even rebut the accusation.

They are so anti what our principles, as a nation is about, I dont want anything to do with them.

Good Idea gone bad...
August 28, 2017

It could be a great tool and I guess for some it may even be helpful but there are people on the site that are leads... in charge of monitoring the site... if you only have one lead it's difficult to keep the threads on topic and it gets nasty and sometimes vicious. One lead actually private messaged me to taunt me about a stalker and called another woman fat... he's still the lead the site didn't think this was enough to remove him... they told me he was warned... I wouldn't join didn't get anything out of it.

Could have been good!
February 19, 2016

Nextdoor started out good. The idea of a site specific to your neighborhood sounded great. You can keep up with what's going on and any alerts. However, it became postings for jobs wanted and junk for sale. The local sheriff has taken to posting "wanted felons" alerts, which don't involve my area at all. There are plenty of sites for news and junk for sale but nothing specific to individual neighborhoods. It was a good idea, too bad it didn't work!

Love it!
January 11, 2020

I have found several tradesmen that were recommended on NextDoor and have bought and sold several things. I also find it valuable for lost pet notices and reunited a dog I found with his owner. Love this app!

How disappointing
September 29, 2022

Nextdoor was great when it started. You could easily scan an area for safety concerns in your neighborhood, but also check out any additional news, see "for sale" information. Or ads. NOW everything is lost in advertisments. I used to visit the site daily... now, I hesitate to look at it at all. Started out addressing all our concerns in separate areas... not so much now.

Some users create multiple accounts on NextDoor to support their own causes on the site. NextDoor does not have an effective way of stopping residents from creating multiple accounts. It relies on leads to verify accounts but leads themselves have created fake accounts. Without real identity verification, ND is just another forum.

Been a member since 2014 when everyone was doing it... I havn't used until yesterday someone told me to log in--there was over 24 comments from my neighbor that I was a drug dealing-cat killing-disgrace,, etc
Apparently this has been going on for over a year... I spoke up
Now the lead has me blocked I cant say anything--I cant message anyone
Seems to me this site is only for one sided bs of people hating

If your views are different than the leads/ admins in your area or they dislike you or you post a reply they dont like then you open yourself up for not just social media bullying but they also have your address and make threats. And there is no way to report them without them knowing. Very unsafe!

Have found over time that this is a super ad driven app so be prepared for the deluge. Guess rents in San Francisco are high. Also have seen over time that MAGA supporters are given a preference. They can attack but you can't defend. Also this app just has not been that helpful unless you are either looking for your lost cat or you spotted a coyote (live next to a wildlife habitat) yet again. Thought at the start this would be a great app. Now just sorely disappointed. No wonder the numbers for this are awful.

Nextdoor provides a strong ability to help or get help from adjoining neighborhoods. Things that stand out to me are being able to communicate regarding lost and found pets, recommendations and feedback on businesses, and information about concerns effecting the neighborhood. I feel very supportive and appreciative of how the information is delivered (by email and app).
