I was stating facts about a dog and trying to understand this behavior that just all of a sudden appeared after days of being on the app. I was told i was mental, they then stated a slight comment about my parents, and the lead was a part of it. Nextdoor blocked me and did nothing about the bullies.
I even made a general post before being deleted about how nextdoor was allowing bullies.
There is no physical phone number to call just the email that they don't read but will reply with their guidelines WHICH not even they follow.
Screw nextdoor. Ill speak to whomever wants to hear it i have screenshots. If you ate a bully nd is for you, if you're not STAY AWAY.
ZERO STARS
Unbelieving that I was removed after all that I have done for my community.
Anyone can report you if you don't sing their jambalaya.
Very surprised by others' negative reviews. Here in Cambridge, MA, Nextdoor is a great site. It helps create a sense of "neighborhood", and helps find useful things and services; e.g. I just found on it someone to dig out my car from the snow.
Information on a public registry is public, says Dr. Calkins. There is nothing forbidding you from telling anyone, that Im aware of. It is illegal, however, to use this information to harass or discriminate against the offender.

It makes no sense to exclude people from a neighborhood community conversation without giving them a chance. A neighborhood is a neighborhood and people live in it. If you shut off the lines of communication then you will never know and will be just waiting for something bad to happen. Give people the chance to move on change for the better. What is the point of trusting law enforcement and criminal justice if not given a new lease on life after serving the agreed upon sentence and restitution. It doesn't make sense. This type of exclusion forces felons to be worse felons and worse people. At least you can know the person not the stereotype. I wish people could see this IS bullying to chase people, harass, single out, pursue, attack, humiliate, mentally and emotionally abuse human beings that saw the judge and rightfully complied with a punishment to the adjudicated end and ending date. It's over. You are reopening old wounds. Nothing but everyone's suffering will come of that. No buts. Let it go.
Leads are bullies. Trolls have a fertile playground with no accountability. No matter how much good you can do or have done for your community, one ambiguous comment can get you deleted in this totalitarian landscape. Leads protect their friends and they unite together with their friends to "mob" other users. Reporting them to Nextdoor is a waste of time. They do nothing. Leads are the most powerful clique and THEY decide whether you can eat at their lunch table or not. Nextdoor is no longer news, goings-on, curb alerts or neighbors helping neighbors. Sooooo many people have stopped using it that Nextdoor practically begs it's users to recruit, send out postcards, get the word out to recover some of their user losses. BEWARE: hypocrisy IS the name of the Nextdoor. 1) you can't post commercial or promotion... but Nextdoor can to get you to buy things from their sponsors and monetize user traffic. 2) Report stuff that Nextdoor will never handle and get reported and booted off for things you never did. 3) Include yourself with your neighbors, but only if they allow you into their clique. 4) Free speech does NOT apply on Nextdoor. 5) Don't bully because bullying is Nextdoor and its' leads' privilege. ETC... ETC... ETC. Let me tell you how bad it's gotten... the police depts, schools, cities, local clubs and organizations, etc won't even use it anymore. It's become a snake pit... where bullies and trolls quickly run off the good people... leaving a sh*t pile of bullies and trolls left in the Nextdoor trenches and then they start turning on each other and it becomes a horrible disaster worthy of morbid curiosity.
This site has a double standard regarding local teachers/tutors while allowing large corporate business to promote. It is not neighborhood friendly and is a scam. Shame on you Nextdoor. Just another deceitful company.
Why do your leads suck and how dare you allow such hated bullying? If they do not agree with your opinion and sometimes the facts you are reported or banned. This has become a very racial and violent website. A lot of bad things have begun to happen because of the cyberbullying.
This site has lost it's value and purpose with me. We got plugged in to it back when we had lost our dog, and thought that it was a very unique and helpful site to use. We have been users and contributors ever since (at least 3 years now). But lately was just on skimming through some topics and came across one, where an individual had mentioned his post was removed because it was a negative review of a business, and then noticed that there were practically NO negative reviews of ANY business on the site for users to go to.
Later, I saw an email with a response from the OP, indicating he had looked further into it to see if Nextdoor.com was a publicly traded company, but it was not, and then discovered that they had tried to go IPO before but had zero revenue to do so. Hence, now they are trying to create revenue using local businesses on the site, and well, you can't have users saying any negative things about businesses and expect businesses to jump up to join and add revenue at the same time. As always a site that once started to help neighbors connect and pass information along in the community, became a money grab with the founder/CEO searching for a way to make a quick buck.
Guess you can't blame them necessarily for wanting to monetize it, and cash in on a great idea and all the work that went into it, but the tactics used by the site now, and the modified terms of use for the site make it relatively useless if you are looking for an opinion from your actual neighbors. This is why I prefer Angie's List for something like that. Most things in life aren't free, and apparently that includes your neighbors opinions of a contractor's recent work they had done. Oh, and that post I had originally found... when I tried to click on a link in a later email to view/reply, the post had been removed, and so had the original poster himself! So too were others that had negative sentiments to share about the site 'monitors' censoring their posts. Shameful Nextdoor.com, shameful!
This was promoted on local TV as a way to link up the police and keep track of crime in your neighborhood. That's a Good but you have to put up with all of the other crap you get. Even though I went into settings and unsubscribed to all postings I get about 10 emails every day that each is linked to about 20-30 posts etc plus all of the business spam.
It's basically an app for some very bored people who don't have much to do or anything relevant to say. People sharing their musings about nonsense and other useless things. It's basically another version of Facebook. At least with Facebook, I only see stuff when I log into it. With this, you are forced to see all of this stuff and it clogs up your email. I have tried repeatedly to unsubscribe. Their HELP section says to go into settings and there is a "deactivate account" option near the "end of the page." Doesn't exist. Sorry but I have a busy life and don't need to know how Fido is feeling today or what cute things Kitty did. After it snowed, people were sending out emails "what's this white stuff on the ground?" Mercy.
When I first received my Nextdoor invitation, I thought, wow, this might be a great way to keep on top of local news. And for a few weeks, it was. I then made the mistake of defending someone who was upset about losing her senior citizen discount on her water bill. Without getting into details, the original poster was attacked in a really rude and thoughtless way by two conservative members. I responded, and then I was attacked. It's like Facebook, but worse, because these people know where you live (I didn't realize until I decided to deactivate my account that my actual address was listed on the site for all to see). Full of nasty, bigoted women who have nothing better to do all day. Don't waste your time or risk your privacy and security on this balderdash.
Nextdoor: Who is monitoring neighborhood leads? You have a terrible system that allows leads to unfairly censor discussion in favor of one side over another and allows one or two neighbors to report-bully people they disagree with.
Next stop, complain to advertisers that enable the enablers.
Thought this could be a useful way to get in better contact with neighbors. But it's not really that useful--the info shared is about who's a good plumber, etc., which can be found on other sites, and there's a lot of space devoted to lost pets. And some neighbors are definitely not worth knowing. I was just insulted for simply asking what the point of a mostly negative discussion was, and was insulted by the poster, the Lead in charge of discussions, and others. Sheez! Don't need that kind of aggravation.
I was permanently removed from Nextdoor for commenting about several other posts that discussed the gangs from Chile that have been terrorizing our neighborhood. There have been 12 breakins in the last month in our area and I suggested that we are making it too easy for them to reenter the country. These people are arrested, bonded out, and deported without any repercussion. They then return to steal from us again. This is what the police told us. The police have told us that it is a Chilean gang that is attacking our neighborhood and this was brought up by another person and commented on by several others yet I was the only one removed for discriminatory comments. The real reason I was kicked off I believe was because I posted a list of Trump's accomplishments in the State and Federal political section. I posted that information in the appropriate location but was then immediately removed. This is very telling. Apparently, though licensed to do business in this country, they look past the first Amendment of our Constitution and are not open to anyone except liberals. I think I have a good case against these people.
This is still worth my daily check in to find out what's happening in my area and to connect with neighbors. But the ads everywhere (beginning, middle, and later on) are repetitive and unwelcome. Wish I had a fast forward, visual mute, or opt out button to make the Nextdoor experience return to being more enjoyable. Also some of the reviews for these ads posted under different "neighbors' " names are simply copy and paste rather than sincere sharing of experiences with the product. Even better would be to make a separate category for these so that it would be an option for those who might be interested.
There is much good to be said about this site. But first... the negative. Hijacking of space by those who post obsessively about lost and found pets is definitely irritating. They are asked to post on other sites and in a special category but don't honor that request. Many people in our neighborhood have left this valuable site because of these kinds of posters.
Now the good... young moms are finding others to meet with, information about community events are easy to find, sales of household items are advertised and purchased by nearby neighbors, free items are given and traded, news of home and car invasions and other criminal activities is circulated quickly, names of trusted tradespersons, local household and childcare help, gardeners, etc. are posted, Meet With a Cop get togethers are advertised, and, currently, sustainability groups are being organized to grow and trade backyard garden produce with other interested neighbors.
Overall, in spite of the endless pet posts, this is an enjoyable and useful way to connect with neighbors and keep informed of what is happening in the neighborhood.
Nextdoor is nothing but a data collecting, censoring machine. If someone doesn't like what you have to say, they will get you by having your content censored and your account suspended. Not an organization I'm interested in supporting, especially in today's world. We have enough of that going on right now.
I would have not given any stars. It is worthless. Intolerant to the max. Can not discuss any HOA problems. Reason, might hurt other neighbors feelings. That is a lot of BS too me. I was blocked because I had a alias but my real name was in my account settings. I believe they sell your info because they are funded by some banks. The leads don't care and they like to use words like diversity and inclusion which makes me want to gag. I blame also a good percentage of our neighbors because they easily report you and cry foul. I stood up to next-door and quickly terminated my account. Found something better.
The worst part about Next Door is they play the role of a therapist in these groups whether they admit it or not. They monitor every word written and act on them as a therapist would act in a therapy group, the problem is there are not trained people working at Next Door. Even their CEO and founder has ZERO credentials. As far as I'm concerned that are as unethical a group a people as I've ever witnessed.
Kicks you fron the app without letting you know. When someone reports you it could be for a bullcrap reason and NEXTDOOR justs kicks you without following up the legitimacy of the complant. I posted HAPPY HOLIDAYS to my neighborhood and customers and they kicked for 2 months. They also wont respond to complaints or questions about it. Terrible terrible terrible.
We message and talk to our leads about issues. They do not listen or do anything. I am one of two co captains in neighborhood watch. We try to tell them some problems. But, nothing. It appears just a power thing. Disappointed
I've been harassed by leads. I offer Tupperware community services like free fundraising and warranty replacement. I understand about not promoting your business. The last straw, I simply posted items for sale and realized I was blocked after a crime watch alert was denied. Door to door carpet cleaners caught on video pushing for a sale and "no soliciting" sign on door! Checked my email for notice from nextdoor, but there was none. Poor leads in my area! *******
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
When neighbors start talking, good things happen.
