This organization has without a doubt the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE of any business I have ever dealt with. As in NONE...the customer is ALWAYS wrong! Any positive ratings are simply due to people avoiding the pitfalls and had a good time, never realizing the potential for disaster. If you are one of the lucky ones, congratulations! If you have the SLIGHTEST problem, these crooks will go out of their way using one of their obscure loopholes. Expect compensation? Refunds? Credits? Good luck...their insurance company is just as bad. They will find a way to tell you you had no coverage. I could go on but their defenders (certainly not NCL) will accuse me of just being a whiner. Wonder why they got an "F" from the BBB? Wonder no longer.

Totally upset
August 25, 2023

Totally upset, I recently went on my first NCL cruise loved every minute of it decided to buy for certificates for a future cruises. I booked an Alaska cruise they changed my itinerary one of the stops being Skagway and glacier Bay glacier Bay the most important to me. They eliminated same with the Skagway. They will fully refund my money and I can rebook on the very next day on another ship with the itinerary having to pay more money. I understand schedules change but when my schedule went to another ship the very next day why am I penalized by paying more money more trouble canceling and re-booking with only a sorry totally upset

They were the first to allow people to have their meals at the time and place of their choosing and not require formal wear.

The rules by cruise lines in this area were set back in the days of Transatlantic liners with First, Second, and Tourist class. Now it is all Tourist class and they were the first to stop pretending that US tourist wanted to dress like First Class on the Titanic.

No Refund Yet!
August 15, 2020

Our trip was cancelled on NCL due to the COVID19, prior to the cancellation, we sent two doctor's statements verifying that my husband should not travel and we requested a refund... denied! The cruise was cancelled and we applied for a refund... still have not heard anything about getting our refund! NCL... is a rip off and shouldn't be allowed to operate!

I am going to keep this short, there were numerous relatively minor issues on the cruise itself (shortened port stays, and one port cancellation, mediocre service at times, our room was not very clean, and lots of small things). Most of these things would have been generally tolerable EXCEPT for the fact that our flight was cancelled and the NCL representative told us to book to the next port of call (which we did) and submit receipts for reimbursement after the cruise. AND NOW THEY ARE REFUSING TO HONOR THE AGREEMENT. I can handle a lot, but being lied to is a deal breaker.

NCL Encore lost luggage
October 15, 2023

Arrived back to pier 66 Seattle WA on the NCL ENcore, we purchased the airport to pier transport NCL package prior to our cruise. Our luggage picked up from our stateroom and on arrival to airport our luggage was lost. Transport staff told us luggage is lost every day. This is unacceptable.

Embarrassing 'Customer Service' and Awful Foodd
August 22, 2023

I went on a 9 day Greek Isles & Southern Italy cruise with Norwegian and it was so bad that I left after day 3. The entire ship was between 78-82 degrees fahrenheit and my room was close to 80 which is not even close to being considered an expected/normal temp inside. I need to sleep in a room around 68-70 degrees.

The restaurants were all abysmal cafeteria like quality food with everything over cooked. The adults only pool & jacuzzis were continually filled with little kids.

There was non existent customer service on the ship and not one person helped resolve the climate issues. It was like being held a captive and after 2 nights I couldn't take it anymore.

In reading reviews online (unfortunately after already purchasing the cruise) there was a common theme about the staff being incompetent and not ever resolving any problems. It was exactly like dealing with outsourced phone reps in the Philippines and India when you're trying to get a cell phone bill fixed and they continually pass you off to different people and never solve the problem. Hardly any of their staff spoke understandable English. In short, no one cares and no one has any competency or power to solve problems. Total nightmare experience.

Party Time
March 28, 2020

I did the 16-day through the Canal, leaving from Miami and landing in LA. I had my own cabin and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Bought the premium drink package for $450 and my bar bill was $3500 at checkout, and I didn't even visit the whiskey bar where they had $400 shots of scotch. The service was exceptional, the employees were all hard-working and pleasant, I didn't run across a single rude person.

The main cafeteria food was generally awful and not very healthy. The salad bar had like six items -- HUH? The specialty restaurants were generally quite good and so was the 24-hour free restaurant. Didn't make it to a single show, mainly gambled (blackjack) each night. Table rules are tight, they should loosen those up and make the games more fun. Most of the time, the casinos were empty because they set such greedy odds on every game.

The best part of cruising for me is being underway, especially leaving port. I didn't get off the boat on half the stops and the ones I did I mostly regretted the decision. It was like walking into a swarm of flies, the peddlers, vendors, and other pests aggressively accost you the second you get away from the ship.

Will I cruise again? I'm not so sure, not after watching these Covid-ridden ships banned from ports. In fact, our ship had a virus outbreak and that was in November and they locked down the ship for the last three days. It was like a precursor to the Corona pandemic. No, doubt I ever get on one of those again, but glad I did the Panama trip.

Terrible customer service! NEVER TRUST THEM to book your flights! They booked my flight on the wrong day and I let them know immediately. That was months ago! Now, after several phone calls in which they told me the correct flight booking was being expedited, I'm close to sailing date and STILL DON'T HAVE A FLIGHT!

Wait times on hold to make alterations to your reservation are almost an hour. Then when you get through, they can't make changes (like add a night before the cruise). They have major problems.

Just an absolutely terrible customer service experience with Norwegian, we will never sail with them. We booked and paid for our cruise in advance and two weeks after our payment due date called to add flights. They added the flights while we were on the phone, but because this was after our payment due date it triggered an automatic cancellation of our already paid for cruise and the application of penalties of more than 50% of our payment (which was a lot!). After nearly 4 hours on the phone we were able to have the penalty reversed (after dealing with several people who refused to do so) but our reservations are gone and there are no longer spots on the ship we were initially reserved on, or others. Just overall a really, really terrible customer experience, I feel lucky to have not lost any money just hours of my life, lots of stress, of course I haven't told our kids that their expected holiday cruise is cancelled yet (first world problems I know but this is a cruise company review).

We've sailed NCL often, but will NEVER do so again. Since the pandemic they have gone down, down, down, just like their stock. They call/email incessantly now, begging you to sail with them, and track your log-ins on the website. Then, they call call call—as late as 8pm and 9pm at night. And when you get even the slightest bit irritated to a C/S rep, they lie to you about you having given them permission to call you & hang up on you. Then, when you call corporate office, they are just as rude & hang up on you, too! OMG. Unreal. Sail Windstar, which is an AMAZING cruise line. Or, Viking, or heck, even Royal Caribbean. NCL needs to close its doors, IMHO. Went from Excellent, to good, to okay, to awful. I even own stock in NCL, which I'll be selling.

Buyer Beware
July 16, 2023

Norwegian does a terrible job of communicating anything that will actually happen to you. Their "air deal" sounds good until they book your flights. We went with another couple and booked our cruises 3 mins apart with the same person and linked our accounts. Norwegian booked us separate flights and didn't even book you seats next to your spouse. They nickel and dime you for anything and everything you do. You can't see the schedule for the week so it makes it really hard to plan things. Their app is terrible compared to Carnival or Royal. You can't see the menu for food options during the week which again made it hard to pick what night you want to do speciality dining. The spa on Bliss sounds amazing until you get there and they don't enforce the rules of that area being a quiet area. It was extremely loud and people screaming all the time. A lot of teenagers on our cruise too and Norwegian was allowing them to drink. They hardly swipe your card with the drink package so those that like to drink is I guess why you choose Norwegian.just beware you still pay tax on your drinks during certain parts of the trip.

Their wait staff, just like the other cruise lines was top notch and a joy to speak with and get to know, but other than that I unfortunately don't have much positive to say about Norwegian. Their food is worse than Golden Carrol.

Our cruise on Norwegian Star departed Barcelona 4/23/22. We were very excited as we upgraded to an aft penthouse balcony suite on the 8th deck. The first night was fine. Unfortunately, the following 7 nights at 10 pm the vibration from the base being played in the lounge shook our suite floor. The music typically ended at 1 a.m. We were not aware that the 8th deck aft staterooms were above the Bliss lounge, which apparently had no sound proofing. We brought the noise issue to the attention of our concierge as well as the General Manager with absolutely no resolution. Our concierge's solution was to have us sleep in another stateroom then return to our suite during the day…Really! We left 2 complaint letters with the General Manager who apparently was too busy to respond to either letter. We contacted Norwegian and their solution was to give us a token credit on a future cruise. I loved Norwegian until this last cruise, now they are on the do not sail with Norwegian list as far as we are concerned. There are certainly other cruise options. Based on our experience pick another cruise line who cares about the comfort of their passengers.

Profits over Loyal Customers
April 13, 2024

Subject: Unjust Treatment and Lack of Compassion from NCL

I am writing to express my utter disappointment and frustration with Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL) over the handling of my recent booking. My wife and I had booked a cruise, fully paid at $7000, and were eagerly looking forward to our vacation. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, my wife fell ill and we had to cancel our trip.

Despite our unfortunate situation, NCL displayed a shocking lack of compassion and understanding. Instead of offering us a cruise credit or some form of compensation, NCL decided to keep our hard-earned money for a cruise we never even embarked on. This is not only unfair but also unacceptable.

It is deeply troubling to know that while NCL reported record profits this past year, they chose to prioritize their financial gains over the well-being and satisfaction of their customers. It seems as though our hard-earned money was more valuable to them than our loyalty and trust.

I took the initiative to reach out to the board members and the CEO in hopes of finding a resolution. However, my efforts were met with indifference. It appears that NCL is more interested in maximizing profits than maintaining a loyal customer base by showing empathy and flexibility in challenging situations.

Customer service was no help either. I was advised to cancel and then write to guest services to request a credit, only to be denied once again. This lack of transparency and willingness to accommodate loyal customers is truly disheartening.

In conclusion, my experience with Norwegian Cruise Lines has been nothing short of disappointing and frustrating. I strongly urge potential customers to think twice before booking with NCL, as their treatment of customers leaves much to be desired.

So booked a 7 day French Polynesia Cruise. They arranged flights, at first we were getting there early in the day and then we opted tp stay 2 days later, our original flight was in the evening, they changed it to have us on the first flight out so we lost a lot of time on the island. Then we were supposed to be in Moorea for 2 days had some awesome excursions planned, nope, they screwed up and now we get a sea day instead of being in port cancelled the excursion of a lifetime. Then they had issues scheduling flights for other passengers so instead of leaving on a monday we are now not leaving the until Tuesday when the rest of the passengers arrive in the wee hours and our time in first port will be cut in half again causing an excursion I was very much looking forward to being cancelled. I also think they have the absolute worst technology. You are not in control of your own reservation you have to call them for every single thing. Other cruise lines allow you to make your own changes. Also as soon as you book an excursion they block out all others available during that time so it's difficult to see if maybe you want to make changes. I hope the trip experience is better than this.

Lost Reservations
August 17, 2023

We had 3 seperate NCL cruises booked. I had to cancel one of them. After cancelling, a few days later, I went to the NCL Website to inquire about booking a shore excursion and found that all 3 cruises had been cancelled. Two of my cruises had been fully paid for. After 40 minutes on the phone with NCL and speaking with different customer service representatives and then a supervisor, we finally got it all worked out. The end result is the most crucial, but man, it was way too difficult and the attitudes coming across the phone lines! What happened?!? NCL was my go to Cruise Line (we've done several cruise lines including Disney, Princess, RCL, Disney and Celebrity). Heck, I'm even a Platinum Lattitudes member with NCL.

Told my wife, "I'm done with NCL". The nickel and dimed charges and gimmicky "all for free" promotions are not for me.

We booked on the almost brand new Norwegian Bliss out of Seattle specifically to see the Bay of Glaciers (Glacier Bay National Preserve - Alaska) and when we got near to there and all of us were on deck chairs waiting to see this once in a lifetime sight the Captain without notice turned right into the waters which led to Skagway so that we (later found out) wouldn't miss a dockside mooring (sister ship which came in after us had to ferry folk ashore via motor launch. You decide whether these people are cheats or not? John and Louise Sydney Australia PS This cruise line seems more intent on onboard entertainment for Americans than sightseeing Watch Out!
