This is a crappy company. They cancel your transaction without verifying your purchase. Then you have to wait 7 to 10 days for the money to go back on the card. Customer service is no damn help at all. I'm really pissed off. Never again

Scam!

I can't even activate the card!
How can this be legal?
I spoke to a lady named Sonny she was the rudest person I've ever spoken too!
After I waited over a hour to speak to someone, still didn't fix the card!
Horrible horrible customer service!

Where is my money

Iv had over $100 on this card just disappear and it's impossible to get a hold of them to ask what the hell happened to it very disappointed I work hard for this money for it to just disappear! Very upset

I have no trouble with activating my card on phone or registering it online. I also got through customer service with no problem and they 100% helped me with my issue. I've had no problem with this card.

My vanilla took upon me reporting my card lost stolen they kept my me from getting a new card for approximately Thirty Days and I reported it 30 days ago they should have sent me a card by then I have been suffering I have no access to my money because my money goes direct deposit they have my money sitting in their Bank while they make a a card that takes a month for them to make. I am changing my bank prepaid card from my vanilla and I would never ever in my life put my money and my family in position to be handled by a prepaid card with a business solo class that they have no respect for the person that they are working for. You can't even transfer money even though you have money on your account to another card isn't that a shame. They are just another prepaid company that just wants to hold your money and don't let you spend it to build up there credit. If this was possible I would like to put this on the CNN News and report them to the president they're not even American

I received a Vanilla card as a gift in October 2018, it has taken me four months, many emails and phone calls to get it registered. Time will tell if it actually lets me purchase anything!

My experience is similar to all of these negative reviews. I was given a $500 gift card at Christmas from colleagues at work. Someone had used up the funds in the first week of January. Customer service is phony and asked a lot of personal questions. I held back personal info they should not need for an e-card. I was given a case# but they never sent me the form to complete. I have been researching online and am appalled that this company is still in business. I filed a complaint with the Attorney General's office in my state. Everyone should file a complaint! Get them shut down.

If you're reading these reviews wondering if you should buy a MyVanilla card, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. These people will block your card and force you to get a new one EVERY 1-2 MONTHS. They claim there's sketchy activity on your account, but in reality someone is blocking your sh*t for fun. F*CK MYVANILLA. PICK *ANY* OTHER COMPANY.

Do not buy Vanilla Gift Cards. This company is a scam. We got a $500 gift card from our boss last Christmas. When we tried to activate the card, it said the amount is insufficient. We found out someone already made an unauthorized purchase of $480 at Walmart. When contacting customer service (waited for 30 min on the phone), we were told it takes 90 days to investigate. 90 day is up and they said they didn't received the claim form we submitted. WTF? I think the company is betting that we have to jump through hurdles to get reimbursed and hope that we finally give up.

Purchased a gift card, activated it, and my funds were stolen immediately! Customer service is a crock of...! I'm sure they are the ones stealing our money, just like the scam calls they make! I hope they burn in hell!

First time using the card, it didn't work! I called the company and was told there was something wrong with my card, and I should wait 3 days then call back to find out what was resolved. Not satisfied, I called back the same day asking for an explanation. The person told me there was a technical issue and I should wait for a couple of days in order to be fixed. After two days, I purchased something and tried to make the payment on a self checkout machine, It didn't work because needs signature. But it worked when a cashier used her cash register. At home, I checked my balance and find out I was charged twice! The checkout also went through even thought the transaction did finalized due to signature issue. I still have some money on the card, but don't know how much more I will lose. Anyway, think twice before buying these Vanilla Visa/Mastercard. Avoid headaches.

My parents bought me £100 worth of these gift cards when I started university. I put them away for a rainy day and a year later when the rain started pouring I tried to use them. Only to find no funds available... because they have taken £97.20 off of my balance in "account fees". Multiple complaints have gotten me no where except on hold and I now have no choice but to face the prospect of surviving 11 weeks on £21. Myvanilla have caused me undue stress and anxiety and I recommend this company be condemned.

Could someone tell me why the funds on my card are frozen because an online merchant would not take this card as payment and declined my purchase so now customer service says I have to wait 7 to 10 days before my funds will be released back to my card. This is such bull $#*!. This company will use any excuse to make even more money off people. This company needs to be shut down.

Do Not Purchase

Do not purchase the My Vanilla personalized debit card. Online registration does not work. Not to mention they ask for your social security number. Also, no one will answer their phone and they provide no email to contact them by. I feel like I have been ripped off of the money that I loaded on this card and can not use. Total rip off.

I had the worst experience with this company they cheat people out their money I got a card as a gift for my son for his birthday minor and we could use it after activating it so we called customer service and they told us they will send another one in the mail nothing after months so I called again and this time customer service was horrible she expected me to be ok she didn't like the tone of my voice now as I'm writing this been on hold to speak with her supervisor it's been almost an hour shame the people call customer service with a problem I never use curse word it's not how I speak this women was so sensitive I guess she was telling me how to speak and act I'm in shock such a big company will not train the customer service reps this shocked me but No one is just going to through money out the window

I have been waiting 6 weeks for a merchant refund. Don't ever get this card. They don't issue temp are credits. There management doesn't exist. One excuse after another. They have been holding my $350 for 6 weeks and days. Throw them in jail. They charge. 50 a swipe. Avoid at all costs. There the worst debt card company. The government should shut them down.

Sent a replacement card to an address I lived at 3 years ago (no idea who lives there now) because that was the original zip code for the first card. I confirmed on the phone that it WOULD NOT be sent to the previous address, they repeated this back to me and promised it would come to my current address… then sent it to the wrong address anyways. No clue who lives there. I asked for expedited shipping due to the mistake on their end, they said no and that they were sure they had the right address now and it would arrive in 7-10 business days from when it ships, whenever that will be. Over a month of waiting on the card. They also charge you a dollar for every transaction which eventually adds up. They're a joke. Avoid.

What a huge waste of time and a hundred bucks. Can't get it to swipe at Walgreens, wouldn't work at a restaurant for the dinner check, and when I finally used it enough to have 17 bucks left on it, the website and Vanilla "customer service" line say "something wrong with your card - go back to where you bought it". Finally just cut it up into four pieces and threw it into the trash - chalking it up at 17 bucks worth of learned-my-lesson tax… buyers beware.
