They will shut down your card with no warning beware customer service will not help you. TERRIBLE!
I received this card as a Christmas gift. It states card does not need to be activated in order to use. I attempted to use the gift card at Victoria Secrets it was declined on the website (tried several times). I even called Victoria Secret and had their rep attempt to directly place the order and take card info over the phone -declined. I then called the 800 # on the back of the card the recording stated in order to make online purchase I needed to register my zip code (which I thought was weird for a prepaid Visa card). I registered my zip code. I then called back to make sure it was registered guess what according to their system it was not (re-registered multiple times to no avail). I then went to Vanilla Giftcard website. I was able to enter card number, exp date and three-digit code - the site did show an available balance but nowhere to register the requested zip code in order to make online or gas purchases. I called customer service no less than 6 times, I was put on hold for 30-40 minutes each time, when I was able to speak to someone each time absolutely no help (I attempted to escalate call to a manager they would put me on hold and then come back and say a manager would have to call me back. I explained situation to rep Her answer was that Victoria Secret was blocked by their company due to frauds complaints about Victoria Secret to them. I was like what unbelievable Victoria Secret a global company (ok not believing that). I then went back out to internet and located hundreds of complaints against Vanilla Gift cards. So, at this point I just want to be able to use the card and never have to deal with this company again. I called back again spoke to a non -useful rep again and ask where would I be able to use the card? Please provide me with a list or a place where I could see non-blocked or blocked retailers of course they could not. I asked well how will I now where I can use the card? Rep stated I would just have to try places and see if the card goes through (Me shocked! What!) so you want me to get merchandise go to pay for it hope the card that is preloaded with dollars is accepted? And if it is not to bad?!
LONG STORY SHORT - I WENT TO AMAZON.COM PURCHASED A THIRD-PARTY GIFT CARD (VICTORIA SECRET) WITH THE VANILLA GIFT CARD. I THEN WAS ABLE TO MAKE MY PURCHASE AT VICTIORIA SECRET WITH THE NEWLY PURCHASED CARD FROM AMAZON. (AMAZON WILL EMAIL YOU YOUR NEWLY PURCHASED CARD IN ABOUT FIVE MINUTES) READY TO USE NO ACTIVATION.
I WAS INITIALLY JUST GOING TO PURCHASE AN AMAZON GIFT CARD BUT PLEASE NOTE AMAZON HAS ALL KINDS OF THIRD-PARTY CARDS YOU CAN PURCHASE. I SAY THIS BECASUSE WHILE READING COMPLAINTS ONLINE REGARDING VANILLA GIFT CARD - PEOPLE WERE SAYING THEY ATTEMPTED TO USE THE GIFT CARD AT PLACES LIKE KHOLS, HOME DEPOT ETC... SO KNOW YOU CAN PURCHASE THOSE CARDS THROUGH AMAZON.
I WILL NEVER EVER DEAL WITH VANILLA GIFT CARDS AGAIN IN LIFE AND WILL TELL MY STORY AND WARN PEOPLE AND LET THEM KNOW HOW I WAS LUCKLY ABLE TO GET AROUND THIS SCAM COMPANY ATTEMPTING TO STEAL PEOPLES HARD EARNED MONEY AND THIER LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Total $#*!ing scam! Idiots on the phone! Website is not very informational! STAY AWAY FROM IT! I DO NKT RECOMMEND!
When i first tried to use my vanilla visa prepaid on Aliexpress it didn't work at all. I tried and it kept declining saying the bank behind the card didn't allow it. I know my card was activated so it was weird it didn't work so maybe it doesn't work on aliexpress because it's international so i went to Amazon instead and it worked! On the first try. One order went though so i thought i should just spend my $250 on Amazon instead. I tried using $170 and it didn't go through after the first $56 purchase sooo i thought maybe it had a time limit so i stopped using it for a couple days. Because i kept using the money and canceling my orders on Amazon cause it wouldn't work, my purchases now say $600+ lol i was questioning if the prepaid was hacked, until confirmation that IT WAS accured. Someone used $99 on GOOGLE perkwiz & $29 on GOOGLE symantec inc. but i thought hmm maybe my siblings used my card without my permission or maybe it didn't go through to my hacker too like it didn't me. My balance keeps coming back little by little so when $40 bucks were available i quickly used it on one of my games and it worked. I think only $19.99 worked... but After a couple days $20 came back available on my card so i thought maybe i should keep it there and wait for the rest to come back... oh? But what's this? Paypal *JAREDOPTICS -$23.53 so now i know i'm fckn hacked: 3 i'm just a kid so i can't call and say "hey i think someone's using my card can i get a replacement?" plus it's already long now & i've used $80 out of my $250. I got the card at walgreens. Never gon trust a visa again, but i went with the mastercard prepaid this time, hopefully it works. BOUGHT A CARD FOR MY BOSS, WELL I PURCHASED THE WRONG ONE. WENT BACK PURCHASED THE CORRECT ONE FOR HIM, KEEPING THE OTHER ONE FOR MYSELF, SEEING AS HOW THEY WOULD NOT REFUND MY $25.00 THAT WAS LOADED ONTO IT. WELL I PUT THE CARD AWAY & FORGOT ALL ABOUT IT. CAME ACROSS THE CARD & DECIDED TO ACTIVATE & REGISTER THE CARD THIS EVENING TO USE FOR ONLINE PURCHASES, TO AVOID USING MY BANKCARD OR OTHER CREDIT CARDS, THINKING PREPAID FOR ONLINE IS THE BEST & SAFEST WAY TO GO. WELL LOW & BEHOLD I GET THROUGH THE PROCESS, MY CARD IS ACTIVATED BUT WHERE IN THE HECK IS MY $25.00, I CLICKED ON MY ACCOUNT INFO & IT READS BALANCE $0.00. SO I CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE & IM TOLD THERES NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE AFTER 90 DAYS OF INACTIVITY IS A CHARGE OF $3.95PER MONTH, I GO ON TO EXPLAIN "I JUST REGISTERED & ACTIVATED THE CARD.IM CONFUSED.THE GENTLEMAN TELLS ME I NEED TO READ THE CARD HOLDER AGREEMENT. ALSO ON THE BACK OF THE PACKAGE FROM THE CARD IT CLEARLY STATES "FUNDS NEVER EXPIRE" THEY SUCK DONT EVER PURCHASE ONE OF THESE CARDS WHERE THEY REQUIRE PERSONAL INFO. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS SUCK ALSO. EXTREMELY RUDE, THE SUPERVISOR REFUSED FLAT OUT REFUSED TO GIVE ME HER REP ID... THIS WILL BE BROUGHT TO THE BBB'S ATTENTION, THE BANCORP BANK THAT OWNS THEM & WHOMEVER ELSE WILL LISTEN.
I'M JUST GLAD IT WAS ONLY $25. & NOT MORE LIKE ALOT OF OTHER PEOPLE OF WHOM I'VE READ THEIR REVIEWS, IT'S A SHAME THAT THEIR ARE SO MANY PEOPLE WILLING TO STEAL HARD WORKING PEOPLES MONEY & JUST BRUSH A PERSON AWAY LIKE IT'S NOTHING, LIKE IT'S NO BIGT DEAL.
MY ADVICE IS NEVER PURCHASE A PRE PAID CARD WHERE THEY WANT YOUR INFO & YOU ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE AN OPEN ACCOUNT WITH, THERE ARE SO MANY OTHERS THAT YOU CAN PURCHASE WITHOUT PUTTING ANY OF YOUR INFO OUT THERE.
