MyHeritage.com has been a huge help to me in compiling a genealogy of my mother's lineage. I've met cousins she or I never knew existed, learned about my maternal grandmother's and maternal grandfather's families, found 1910, 1920, 1930 and 1940 US Census Data for many family member which allowed me to look up their addresses to see what their residences looked like (then or today), and them most amazing aspect of MyHeritage is that it's allowed me to colorize old black and white photos as well as animate several photos--the project I'm working on includes data, family stories, and photographs, so seeing old black and white photos come to life in color has been striking--and has added tremendously to the project.
Thanks for excellent support understanding and finding a solution to my problem when testing MyHeritage's Family tree Builder.
I purchased 2 DNA kits for my boys for Christmas. My youngest lost his, the company was so kind to process a refund because I could not use the lost kit.
About 2 years ago I bought a DNA Testing Kit for $100.00, which I did and posted off. I never heard anything back, but I thought it would take a long time because of covid and so on. Eventually, I contacted the Help Centre at myheritage.com and was assisted by a very kind lady who told me I would be sent a new Kit for FREE! Yay! I think the problem was to do with the cost of posting the Kit to Houston, Texas. You get an addressed envelope with the Kit, but I'm sure that's only viable for people in America. And, if you live in Melbourne, Australia, then you need to pay extra postage to make sure that your DNA Testing Kit gets to the right place. Anyway, I'm very pleased with the service I received. Thank you My Heritage. Yours, Amanda Jones.
Mostly ok but I can't seem to view documents ( could last week and now nothing) such as census records and there is no e-mail to contact. It would be better if there was a designated customer care dept via e-mail.
I had a free trial and failed to end my subscription with one day. I immediately contacted customer service to get
Help with this and had hope for understanding. I had ordered a DNA kit and clicked that I would get a free trial, and missed to cancel it with one day. I was surprised that I didn't get any more e-mail about this before they charged me a lot of money.
MyHeritage's customer service refused to cancel my subscription and give me a full refund. I almost beges them too, and after not answering my emails I got a call and talked to a Costumer service agent that said all they could offer was 40% refund. I lost 60% to a service I don't use.
Customers make mistakes, and the fact that they could not understand that it is a lot of money to lose made me really disappointed. No understanding and no e-mail before charge. I am a dissapointed costumer and I almost feel fooled.
I completed the DNA test (heritage part, not health). While I acknowledge everyone's findings and experience differ, for me it was a waste of money. I got many emails (often the same information repeated) alerting me that due to the DNA results they had found a relative - but that information was item information I had added to my family tree BEFORE this test. Things like - hey, we found your dad - when I had already known who he was and provided THEM with this information. You'll also get thousands of 3rd and 4th cousins which if that's what you're looking for, then go for it. I also subscribed to their search website for my 14 "free" days. There were gaps in my in moms family history I was looking to fill. I found nothing. Literally nothing - when I say my moms side, I included her in my searches and found nothing. After I subscribed to my free trial, I was sent an email saying they let me know when my 14 days was almost up so I could cancel if I wanted. Only, they DID NOT send me an email. On day 14, I went to cancel and found they'd already charged for a full year. I emailed them to ask for a refund - they did not respond. I wouldn't mind if the site was useful, but, as previously stated, I found their site worthless. When performing a search, anywhere, you need ways to narrow results (after all, who wants to search through 10,000 results). However, on their site i seems impossible to narrow search results effectively. For example if you search by a first and last name, state specially you want to look at records only from the 1930s in Scotland - your search results will include things like results from the 1800s from AND from other countries. Their filters don't work. I went on another site and paid for the info I wanted.
Rip-off artist: My MyHeritage Webb site stopped synchronizing with "MyHeritage Family Tree Builder". I contacted their support team to rectify the problem, but to no avail. It was obviously a corrupt database, and the only way to rectify this was by deleting the site and starting afresh. To may horror the account was deleted at the same time. On contacting MyHeritage to transfer the remaining subscription to a new account, I was told no problem just send the original payment details, which I did including the payment conformation receipt from them. Then the communications go dead, no response from any of my emails. They owe me 5 months subscription plus and extra 6 months given to me originally by their management due to an error on the original renewal, plus a gift card of $30 (valid until 17/08/2023) I am highly infuriated by this treatment of their incompetence to rectify the database and then the non-communication after promising to rectify the account. Think twice before you sign up with them and do not believe a word that comes out of their mouths.
A special "thank you" for Julia, who, with patience and efficiency, untangled all my problems... Now, I am reconciled with my genealogy, left aside for quite a while, because I just could not fix the problems by myself (I am no GEEK!). I must add that some of your correspondants are more efficient than others... Thank you again Julia!
Just one regret: so sorry not to be able to have a direct phone line to get in touch IMMEDIATELY when there is a crucial question... try not to let us on tender hooks too long...
On the whole, am very pleased with My Heritage... greetings from Paris, m. Meier
I used MyHeritage for a few years off/on before deciding to purchase a yearly membership for $199. I attempted to log in the following December and THOUGHT I cancelled the subscription but apparently not. IF it was my mistake, I get it BUT they sent NO NOTIFICATION that the membership would renew AND it increased by $116. WITH NO NOTICE. How dare they?! A day after the renewal charge I called and they refused to cancel /refund. SO I had to pay $315 for something I didn't want nor could I afford. I deleted my account and will tell everyone I know to avoid this unscrupulous company. There are other more reputable companies out there.
Made a complaint to the BBB.
I submitted 4 things: bank a statement, a google receipt, a bank notification of withdrawal email and a screen shot of my active subscription (it shows date paid, date of renewal.)
Myheritage responded with: "After looking into this for you I am able to see that you have spoken with a representative about this issue."
No kidding? I spoke to someone, yes. Finally some truth. Did you look at the evidence? Nope because your unsatisfactory reply is final.
ABSOLUTELY NO resolution
MYHERITAGE just wants your money. Judging by the negative reviews they won't give refunds. Or notifications that they are going to charge you. Then pretend you didn't.
Greedy SCAM
Save your money folks, save your heart ache and wasted breath, not worth it
I have proof all these things, the courts may request/subpoena from the companies.
I used the app free, then updated through Google pay. I have a receipt from Google pay. Money was taken out of my bank account. Bank statement show proof of money transfered to myheritage. Google play store shows active subscription. With date of last and next payment.
I still can't use app.
Email reply from myheritage: "You have a free plan," "we see you are pending a subscription" (my renewal) and "we have never taken a dime from you."
Did I mention that I could use the app in the beginning? And I subscribed 7 months ago? (FYI Myheritage, 7 months waiting period for an online service, is the smartest thing you could come up with?)
Scam all the way around. All the flashy reviews and praises of great customer service are just fluff reviews. Save your time, save you money.
As I read these reviews, I realize I should have read them prior to any service. First, all I ever got was 3rd to 5th distant cousins.
Second, and most importantly, they are nothing but scamming thieves.
I emailed and got a response when they charged my account 300.00 without permission. It overdrafted my account causing more fees. The card they charged was a new card. Not sure how they did it. I'm a single parent/foster parent for special needs and medically fragile kids. I'm also disabled. Everything they do is sneaky and full of loop holes. When I spoke to someone I could not understand, he tried to be all nice and offer me more subscription time. Then, a 25.00 gift card. Then, 100.00 refund. When I demand a full refund and cancelation, he got quite nasty. He kept going up in small increments... pretending to talk to a supervisor...
I demand to speak to the "supervisor ". He pretended to transfer me. It was still him. I told him I was recording the conversation and had all my records canceling what they were charging me for. He got really nasty. He said I would have a full refund in 7 to 10 business days and literally dismissed me!
They took $159 from my account without my approval. You will be on the phone forever. DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS BUNCH OF CROOKS.
Great site, lots of awesome features, discovered some l new family members, brought old family to life.
And true, real support, I had an issue (by my fault,) and got the result ion quick and to my satisfaction.
I will totally renew and recommend the subscription
I'm very unhappy with the 'resolution' to my problem. I was on auto-renew, but received NO advance warning that it was scheduled to renew. The DAY it renewed, I called to cancel and request a refund. After 8 DAYS of me calling/emailing, I finally get a callback, only to hear they do not cancel or issue refunds once a subscription renewed. The best offer I got was a reduction in subscription price with a few extra months tacked on. Which, if I'd wanted to keep the subscription, would be great, but I will be paying for a service that I won't use. Very frustrated, and will not be recommending MyHeritage to anyone.
I had cause to use this service recently and was pleasantly surprised to at the speed and compertency my enquiry was delt with.
Waited 2 weeks to receive it and i had no idea it's coming from USA now i have to pay for the postage back to the lab in USA!
Answer: My issue was the automatic renewal without any kind of courtesy reminder prior to the effective date, as other businesses do. Advising one year in advance is a poor business practice. When I contacted them immediately on the renewal effective date, they refused to cancel and offered me a 25% discount. They eventually gave me the full refund but it was due to me turning it over to AMEX to resolve. I do however agree with the advice to base your renewal on your own personal experience.
Answer: You can find your site subscriptions via MyHeritage homepage - pull-down menu on the right upper corner button "Settings". Then click on "My purchases", and button "Site subscriptions". Click "View details". The details contain section "Cancel subscription". Maybe you can get advice by mail from MyHeritage support team (support@myheritage.com).
Answer: If you are looking to get as many connections to your tree that you can, use My Heritage. If you want flexibility in who is added to your tree, use Ancestry.
Answer: Dear Jonathan, Yes I have the same problem, I wrote to My Heritage and they have still not responded to my request for assistance. They are highly Sloppy and unprofessional in responding to customer request for assistance. Even though they have and excellent Technical Team. Fortunately I have another Computer with Windows 8 as a result of which I am able to continue working with my Website. But recently a few problems have cropped up with the recent upgrade of the My Heritage Program and have sent in a request for assistance and till today 3-5 months later I have no response. Apparently the company believes that they can play games with the customers. I firmly believe that they have somehow gone into self destructive mode.
Answer: Probbably you should like to know what are additional charges - described on MyHeritage site: Help Center > Account and Subscriptions > Subscriptions Whats the difference between a FAMILY SITE SUBSCRIPTION and a DATA SUBSCRIPTION? A Family Site Subscription (Premium or PremiumPlus) entitles you to increased storage on your family site for people in the family tree, photos, videos and documents. A Data Subscription entitles you with the access to billions of historical records in all the collections in SuperSearch. You also get unlimited access to Record Matches, including confirming and rejecting matches, if you have a family tree on MyHeritage.com. In addition, you can save and extract information from historical records you find in SuperSearch or get with Record Matches directly to your family tree.
Answer: If you have any problem with My Heritage you should email support@myheritage and state that you with to terminate the programme. They will tell you how to go about it. Hope that helps Sandra.
Answer: I believe a direct ancestor is someone without whom you would not be here. All your other ancestors are indirect.

Answer: Hi After posting my complaint about MyHeritage on here I got a very quick response from some one called Dave at the company. He told me to send an email to support@myheritage.com and add the subject Dave: sitejabber. He responded a couple of days later - I emailed on a Saturday - and the auto repeat on my subscription was cancelled and my money refunded within days. Hope this helps.
