Had a software problem with MyHeritage Family Tree Builder and Rafael gave me the link to where I could obtain an updated version of the software plus clear and easy to follow instructions on how to install it. The problem was immediately resolved.
I was told exactly how to achieve this when the DNA test arrives with an account number.
I had order a DNA kit for a Friend of mine via my account and wanted to make sure that his data was separated from mine.
Recently while working on integrating my new DNA test on the site with an older genealogical effort on Ancestry I created two trees and needed help coordinating the different trees and two e mail accounts. The My Heritage team and JoseM did an outstanding job on this complex effort. I can move forward now confident that the data will seamlessly match up.
As an OAP, with very limited knowledge of computers, when something went wrong I found it very difficult to put it right again, so I had duplication's as well as other confusing problems, and often when I tried to fix them I made them worse. It became very frustrating.
When finally I made contact with Camilla at My Heritage, she really put my mind at ease, went through my problems individually, and had great patience with me, she finally got me back on track.
So I would sincerely like to thank Camilla, for all her help.
Myheritage brings 2 long lost cousins together in Paris.
My Kishinevsky family tree has been on myheritage.com for about a year. I recently decided to contact other Kishinevskys on myheritage to try and find long-lost cousins. Someone I contacted referred me to a cousin they knew who lived in Paris, but whose family came from Bendery, a hop, skip and a jump from Tiraspol, where my family came from. Last Monday at the IAJGS conference, Jacques Kishinevsky and I met to examine photos and documents and to tell family stories. We spent 2 hours talking, me with my rusty French and a lot of body English. We can't prove with a paper trail that we are related, but I will call him cousin anyway. Being able to make this connection means a lot to me -- thank you, MyHeritage!
I was having problems signing in to an acct. I called and spoke to David N. He was very helpful he walked my through the steps to correct my issue and he was fun to talk to. Thank you David! (You must be your mothers favorite!)
This is not something you would find out until it is too late: The RESTORE function does not work. TECH SUPPORT KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM. It has now been well over 100 days and they have no fix. "We'll let you know" is all they've said. Obviously if there is no restore function, your backups are useless.
THINK: Do you want to run the risk of losing all the hours you've put in?
For me, it is too late. I'm sorry I chose this company. I hope you can learn from my mistake.
UPDATE 7 months later: There is no update. Apparently they have no intention of addressing the issue. I assume it is part of their marketing plan: They know that once you put any time in on their platform, you've got too much invested to back out.
The time I soent on hold was a full hour despite being only 4th in line. I would have complained if it weren't for the fact that the consultant who picked up my call was not only very fast and very friendly, but had an extremely heartwarming irish accent. I just couldn't be upset! Overall the customer service was extremely helpful and would've been basically perfect if it weren't for the hold time.
Thanks to DavidN who was patient, kind and helpful answering all of my questions and he also fixed a few of the errors in my Family Tree. I have not yet received the DNA kit so I'm just entering the information of my family members and ran across a few problems while in the process. Looking forward to the results!
I have been using Myheritage for quite some years now and I am still quite happy with the interface, the evolutionof the product and the support I get whenever something is not clear or some function goes wrong. Genealogy research is a never ending job and I trust I will be able to go on with future updates as long as I need it.
I never really knew about my heritage. Basically, what I really knew, is about my Mother, and Father, and my two Grandmother's told me. Beyond that, I was in doubt. But I was told I was American Indian, a little German, and English. With the DNA it's really opened up a lot of things I never knew about myself. So now I know where I came from. I thank you so very much. Hout Colwell
Hello I am a free member of My Heritage and I keep getting your smart match emails and of course I cant follow them up as I am a free member. Now my question is this, how far can I follow up these smart matches with the different premium memberships.
Thank you David
Plenty of interest in my comments but it would be nice if "My Heritage" actually answered my query as they have answered other reviews on here.
This is the second time i have tried to activate my brother inlaws DNA. The first guy had me doing all kinds of things on my computer which wound up doing nothing. He said i would be contacted by e-mail that came in but again nothing. Today Patrick helped me & tried to activate it & found it wasn't my computer problem. He was extremely helpful & said he would send it along to the lab & they would contact me in 2 days. He was so nice & i believe him so i think everything will be ok & the nightmare will be over.
I have called the for help staff 4 times with different very difficult problems and all 4 times I was very impressed with the intelligence and ingenuity and friendliness of your associates. Thanks for your help,

I have used my Heritage for many years, starting from scratch to find my family, and have now completed my research with over 5000 people on my tree.
Initially, it took a bit of getting used to and I often emailed MH support for answers to things that I`m sure were somewhere in the Help Manual, but staff always responded with courtesy.
My Heritage is extremely comprehensive, and in my opinion it pays to subscribe to the Research Data as well as taking out the Premium Membership if you are a serious researcher, which enables research to carry on in the background 24/7, thus saving going to individual websites and searching for the information you require.
I don`t consider it cheap, particularly if you live in a country that has bad exchange rates, BUT I do consider it good value
Most of us hate reading instructions, but spending time reading the manual every time you do something (until familiar with all aspects) will really pay off.
MyHeritage charged me an annual subscription fee of SGD 539.13, which I have problems cancelling the charge on my credit card with the company.
The company had made it essential to input my credit card details to start the DNA process and had offered me a free trial. They subsequently charged me SGD 500 after I had forgotten about the trial. I find It was pretty duplicitous after the customer service had ignored my request to refund me back my money.
SGD 500 is a considerable sum to me, and I urge you to think twice before purchasing the kit from this company.
No record of my order but took the money out of my account. Now i have to go to the bank and follow the money. 3rd Kit. My daughter order one for me and I order one for my cousin. You only has a record for one order. Mess.
I have now tried both Ancestry and Heritage and by far prefer Heritage so user friendly in my opinion
Also paying a premium price took me to ancestors I could never have found so quickly if ever! So very well worth it taking me back to 1500's
So thank you Heritage
The whole process of ordering, receiving the test, being informed about the progress of the analysis, the receiving of the results and the presentation of the results (a little bit kitch) was perfect.
I was particularly impressed by the clarity of the answers given to my questions concerning the analysis of the results and about the ethnicity groups, as they were given to me by a very competent person with pedagogical talents.
My family has resided in a small mountain village outside of Naples for over 300 years. My grandfathers a Hungarian nobleman his family ruled what was Transylvania and is now in Romania for over 1000 years. My DNA test came back 30% British and 30% Spanish it seems like it might have been contaminated by the people operating the test, fo I consider this proved to be scientifically inadequate and totally inappropriate I think they just assign history to whatever they wish. Maybe theyre latter Day Saints and so are only looking for certain ethnic strands I would never pay do this again* nor recommend this service to my family Friends or acquaintance neither should you!
Answer: My issue was the automatic renewal without any kind of courtesy reminder prior to the effective date, as other businesses do. Advising one year in advance is a poor business practice. When I contacted them immediately on the renewal effective date, they refused to cancel and offered me a 25% discount. They eventually gave me the full refund but it was due to me turning it over to AMEX to resolve. I do however agree with the advice to base your renewal on your own personal experience.

Answer: If you are looking to get as many connections to your tree that you can, use My Heritage. If you want flexibility in who is added to your tree, use Ancestry.
