I first paid for a test around October, 2024. It got lost in the system. No response after sending off my second test ages ago. I might be dead before I hear my results.
MyHeritage met all of my expectations. I used it to form my family tree and am satisfied it will provide my family with valuable information on their heritage.
With the help of MyHeritage atDNA matches and available family trees of these matches, we were able to find the identity (name, date of birth and death, later relations and off-spring) of a previously unknown biological great-grandfather who had an out-of-wedlock born son with the great-grandmother. Quite the puzzle but rewarding in the end.
In two separate independent cases I have been able to uncover the true identity of unknown (great) grandfathers of distant current relatives of mine. In both cases this involved a child born out-of-wedlock (ca. 1900), after which the biological father disappeared and remained unknown to the current grandchildren. These searches were possible through MyHeritage's atDNA testing and analyzing the cM matches of current other testers, as well as evaluating the family trees of these testers (accessible through MyHeritage) looking for possible common ancestors. This was not an easy task and took some time to successfully result - in both cases - to uncover the name of the unknown biological (great) grandfather.
My Heritage send many helpful emails to grow my family tree đł But you do need a lot of time to go through them.
I check DNA matches every few days, I have had some good success in finding the connections between our trees.
I have also used the "old news" to verify that my previous research was correct.
I was blessed to find the middle name of my maternal great grandfather. I have known for over 60 years that he was Michael M. McCauley.
A newspaper article on the marriage of my great uncle/aunt listed their abode after marriage was on rhe "Malcolm McCauley" homestead in Target Range district. The Malcolm is his middle name, it was given to the newspper by my ggmother, his widow.
60 year mystery solved.
Have found that many of the family trees have wrong information compared to Ancestry & Find My Past and somehow it has ended up in my tree. Taken quite some time to correct inconsistencies. Not very happy about it so won't be subscribing again.
I have found a lot of dads aide here and found a lot of my family.but I have bo more matches or dna or updates this year so I don't know what's going on
Wonderful to have so many resources in one place. So excited to find William the Conqueror was an ancestor.
Just wish I had more hours in a day to explore.
Over all MyHeritage allows people to construct and/or import an existing family tree easily. The site is pretty easy to use and the help files are quite useful. One thing that I find disappointing is that the suggestions/hints provided seem to promote other peoples family trees above the links to vital records. While I find other people's research useful in furthering my research, I'm a trust, but verify kind of person. I have found too many errors in other people's research to just not verify the information.
I have gained so much information from the MyHeritage Site it's hard to really put into words. The amount of ancestors in my Family Tree has doubled since I joined My Heritage, it's GREAT!
FacilitĂ© de retrouver des ancĂȘtres facilement. Je veux tout savoir de ceux qui ont bĂąti notre lignĂ©e
Speaking with personnel who explain every product in detail helps to make choices.
Finding more things to look at but still have things to discover
Always looking for the missing link. Just havent hit the link yet but have found some interesting things
I have used it for many years and each year it has new information about my ancestors. So, it's the best hobby I've had and at the same time I'm doing a very interesting book to share with each member of my family.
I use several different ancestry programs for searching and comparing information. I have used MyHeritage every day for years and have found the information here to be very reliable. Like the way this site is set up.
The DNA % on latest version is almost
A 180 degree difference. Never seen anything like it. So, I started uploading my tree so hopefully it can see my lineage. But yeah, odd.
On the whole my experience has been good, but I don't understand DNA matches. It seems that I don't get any matches near to my own. I usually get 4th or 5th cousin.
I'd also like to see more of my ancestors closer in time eg: 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st centuries.
Kind regards Anne
Not enough research tools without upgrading to an expensive plan with a monthly charge. Probably should have used ANCESTRY.com
I have received many emails altering me of hints, new information about different individuals, as well as notifications of birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Their site is easy to navigate and to find information.
Answer: My issue was the automatic renewal without any kind of courtesy reminder prior to the effective date, as other businesses do. Advising one year in advance is a poor business practice. When I contacted them immediately on the renewal effective date, they refused to cancel and offered me a 25% discount. They eventually gave me the full refund but it was due to me turning it over to AMEX to resolve. I do however agree with the advice to base your renewal on your own personal experience.
Answer: You can find your site subscriptions via MyHeritage homepage - pull-down menu on the right upper corner button "Settings". Then click on "My purchases", and button "Site subscriptions". Click "View details". The details contain section "Cancel subscription". Maybe you can get advice by mail from MyHeritage support team (support@myheritage.com).
Answer: If you are looking to get as many connections to your tree that you can, use My Heritage. If you want flexibility in who is added to your tree, use Ancestry.
Answer: Dear Jonathan, Yes I have the same problem, I wrote to My Heritage and they have still not responded to my request for assistance. They are highly Sloppy and unprofessional in responding to customer request for assistance. Even though they have and excellent Technical Team. Fortunately I have another Computer with Windows 8 as a result of which I am able to continue working with my Website. But recently a few problems have cropped up with the recent upgrade of the My Heritage Program and have sent in a request for assistance and till today 3-5 months later I have no response. Apparently the company believes that they can play games with the customers. I firmly believe that they have somehow gone into self destructive mode.

Answer: Hi After posting my complaint about MyHeritage on here I got a very quick response from some one called Dave at the company. He told me to send an email to support@myheritage.com and add the subject Dave: sitejabber. He responded a couple of days later - I emailed on a Saturday - and the auto repeat on my subscription was cancelled and my money refunded within days. Hope this helps.
