If you're looking to waste your time and feel frustration beyond anything you've ever felt, then I recommend trying to use Musehub/Muse Studio/Musescore 4 (not really sure what this program is anymore) Nothing loads, nothing installs, and by the chance that Muse Studio does install, you won't be able to install sounds or import and use them in Musescore 4. It's a shame what Musescore has become; garbage. You'd be better off downloading Musescore 3 and suffering through that outdated program than trying to use the latest software. Or better yet, notate your scores with paper and pencil and use your imagination for playback. Relentless network errors despite my internet connection working fine for everything else. I've used and loved Musescore 3 extensively, but now the entirety of Musescore just doesn't work at all. I'm not mad, just disappointed Musescore. Do better.

Andrew's support was fantastic
Andrew's support was fantastic, however, he was limited by the company's rules to only allowing me half a refund. I explained that, after seeing Musescore on a google search (for MUSIC CHARTS) I then saw a special "SATURDAY DEAL" for an ANNUAL subscription for just under $40 (U.S. Dollars). I subscribed, thinking I would certainly print off a number of charts throughout the coming year. Then saw that I was charged twice that amount and worse yet, the services offered were not at all including printing FREE charts. Thank goodness for the half refund but that was a costly mistake with a company with NO MERCY, unfortunately for me.
The music I purchased was missing an entire section of the song, I paid $12 to not even get the section I specifically wanted because the preview ended before I could see it wasn't there. Literally horrible and I don't even think I can get a refund.
As a non-professional user for piano music, MuseScore is all I could ask for, handling my music intuitively, with a very modest learning curve, although a raw beginner may take longer to get the feel. A common need is the ability to convert PDF scores, and here it's only moderately successful. I accepted an offer to get published music books, and more, for a heavily discounted special offer. But after paying, found I couldn't get anything, only look. No downloads and definitely no printing. The offer said GET, I couldn't GET anything. Misrepresentation. Immediately, I sought a refund but was refused. It took several days and a stern demand to finally get my money back.
Should have checked reviews, I clicked free trial, but was signed up and charged for Instant (Nontrial) subscription and they don't care at all. This is a scam. Hoping I can get a refund through paypal
I believe this company gains its profit from tricking people into purchasing an expensive subscription they did not intend to purchase. I clicked on the free trial option and assumed that choice was going to be respected and somehow ended up with a £55 charge on my card. I immediately emailed them, still assuming it was a innocent mistake, and recieved a bot reply saying I can either have a 25% refund or a free six months subscription for no extra charge. It was then I realised this was a deceptive marketing tactic that they use in order to make their money. They haven't replied to my emails now and I will be reporting them to a trading agency. STEER CLEAR!
I recently was trying to print a sheet of piano music and was shown a link to a "7-day free trial". I clicked this link and signed up thinking that I would be given a free trial period to test out this site and basically just to get this one piece of sheet music. Next thing I know I've been charged over £100! I emailed them straight away to explain my situation and the reply I got was that my 7-day free trial had expired and that I hadn't cancelled it before the end (funny considering it had barely even been 1 hour from having signed up), that I had added on another 'Learning' extension to my subscription which cost me even more which I wasn't even aware of when signing up and that hey had specially 'discussed my case with the head office'. The result? They offered me either a 35% refund or to keep the subscription. Absolute SCAM! Honestly their practises are disgraceful, tricking customers into paying for something they are not fully aware of and then on email denying the reality of the situation and trying to get away with it by offering partial refunds. I called up my bank and they agreed it was very dodgey of them and that by no means should I accept any partial refund. I will be following this up with my bank to star this company as fraudsters. Interesting that when I looked up this website online as well there were MANY forums of people discussing the exact same thing having happened to them. Absolutely ridiculous that a site like this hasn't been closed down or held responsible to its actions.
In sum, DO NOT sign up for this website, it is a SCAM!
I've been very surprised to discover that Musescore.com will not issue refunds. I paid for a subscription last year and then forgot about it to be honest. On the 10th of December $50 was taken from my account. No reminder had been sent. I emailed Musescore and asked for a refund and explained I had not used the website in nearly eleven months.
In reply to this I got a slightly aggressive email telling me I must have chosen the option and offering a discount. I explained the situation and said that even if I had chosen it there is a fourteen day cooling off period.
Since then I have had no response to my email or a refund. Am really quite surprised to be honest. Upon now doing some research it seems as if Musescore makes a habit of taking peoples money and then refusing to return it. I wish I had seen other peoples experiences before I encountered mine.
Near impossible to get your money back. Have to use the "correct" cancellation form. Credit card credited me initially and then sided with merchant due to bla bla bla...and recharged my card. Wish I saw these reviews before I tried their "money back guarantee" in 7 days offer!
Don't go in their site! They tell you they have free trial. I went on the site to download one piece of sheet music to print off for my sister for Christmas. I can't read music or play the piano so I knew I didn't need or could not afford a 54. Subscription. I am on a fixed income. As soon as it charged I started trying to get in touch with them. They have no number and all emails just get and auto response. They actually offered me 25% of my money back and I never used it and requested it immediately. I assumed they accidentally charged me but reading other reviews I see that there are many reviews of the same thing happening. I never approved being charged. I know that 54. Is not a lot of money for some people but that is if I eat or not. They will come in behind this review and say they are there to help at customer service, but there isn't a customer service. It's just auto emails. I will remove my reviews if they will just be fair and give me my full refund. Please refund my money I beg you.
This felt like a predatory scam. I went looking for a single score for $2.49 last week, paid for it, and somehow had signed up for a trial premium subscription without realizing. I honestly do not recall reading anything about any subscription during the process, so it must have been hidden in the small print. For me, I thought it was just a straightforward process of buying a single score. This is NOT a case of my forgetting to cancel a 7 day trail - I did not even know I had signed up... like why would I sign up for a pricey premium subscription just to download the one score I wanted... that I paid for, it makes no sense. 7 days later, I get hit with a $49.99 charge. I emailed asking for a refund explaining that this was never a service I wanted, nor even knew I had signed up for, but instead of apologizing for their questionable UI/UX, I was offered the pathetic option to get a 35% refund through an email reply that looked suspiciously automated. My email was probably not read by human, but this scam must be so much their regular modus operandus that they have an automated boilerplate reply for folks who are hit with their scam. I am guessing that this unethical behavior is their main source of income. I've paid over $50 for a $2.49 acapella arrangement at this point. So unethical with zero regard for humanity. My email was never seen by human, the refund form I submitted was never seen by a human, and I waited to talk to customer support in chat on the website so long that the website reset itself. I WILL NEVER USE AGAIN. Don't be scammed like I was! I wish I had checked everyone else's reviews before using this service!
I wanted to try out a piece of sheet music and enrolled for a trial to be told when the sheet music turned out to be terrible, inadequate for instrument, that I'm not entitled to refund and was charged 80 pounds for this. Rude customer service and unprofessional.
I strongly urge caution to anyone considering starting the free trial for MuseScore. My experience has been nothing short of frustrating. I signed up for the 7-day free trial, intending to explore the service, and I attempted to cancel before the trial ended. Unfortunately, despite my efforts, the subscription was not cancelled, and I was charged for a full year of Premium access.
What's worse is that MuseScore refused to issue a full refund, even though I did not take advantage of any of the Premium content. Their response to my refund request was dismissive, offering only a partial refund or additional subscription months as compensation – neither of which were acceptable solutions for me as someone who had no desire to use the service further.
This experience feels like a deliberate trap to lock users into a subscription, relying on unclear or difficult cancellation procedures to secure payments. It's a textbook example of poor customer service and unethical subscription practices.
If you're considering starting the free trial, be prepared for a battle to cancel or retrieve your money should anything go wrong. For a platform claiming to serve musicians and creators, they show little regard for their customers' trust or satisfaction.
Save yourself the hassle and frustration – look for alternatives that treat their users with fairness and respect.
I agree with a number of other reviewers that this company's sales tactics are designed to be confusing. I wanted to get a free 7-day trial and thought that's what I was signing up for. There wasn't a page checkout page with the price clearly stated until after I checked out with PayPal and discovered I'd just paid $55 for something I don't want and can't use. I'm hoping their customer service dept. will refund the ridiculous fee. If they do, I will amend this review.
I purchased a one year subscription only to find I still have to pay for every score I want to download or print.
Within 2 hours I requested a refund and they have ignored every email.
When I gave a poor review they suggested I contact them. On the same email address I had already been contacting.
They play the waiting game for my patience or my PayPal complaint to expire.
Don't fall for the same thing people. Read the thousands of poor reviews. I wish I had!
They didn't give me a seven day trial as promised and they charged me immediately and wouldn't give me my money back and then they charged me $99 seven days later that I never agreed to and it they wrote me back never cared. I had to get a new credit card and go through all the hassle because they are scam artists and they steal. Do not ever even try because they will just keep taking your money and you will have to get a new credit card. They make it impossible to quit annd impossible to get a refund and I never even got one song from them. What scam artists!
They've taken money out of my account I had no idea about. Their practices are scam like and misleading. Can't get someone to help me from the company. AVOID.
As many people have already reported going back months, MuseScore.com refuses to give refunds. They offer a 25% refund, but that's not the same as a 100% refund. The site advertises quality transcriptions. After signing up and downloading the transcription I wanted, I found out that the score was incomplete. When I asked for a refund, I was ignored. When I went through PayPal, they did answer, but only to offer me 25% of my $54.99. The MuseScore app is wonderful and I have been using it for years without problems. It is a shame that the sister website is run by grifters.
BE CAREFUL. This website is very deceptive. So easy to click a button, think you're subscribing to 1 week trial and get the full annual cost charged. I contacted their Customer Support within 10 minutes of the accidental purchase (I even cancelled my subscription without using any of their music) and I was still refused a refund. What a joke! I used to buy individual scores through their website. Never again! I'll be reporting this company tomorrow and taking my money elsewhere to more honest merchants.
I unknowingly tried 1 week free trial & although I cancelled within 24 hours they still charge you the yearly fee even thought you cancelled in the allowed supposed weekly free trial timeframe. So just warning others that its not a free- trial but basically fraudulent charge as you are not authorizing it & they refuse to refund you.
Answer: You can contact MuseScore Customer Service at support@musescore.com. They will reply to you within 24 hours or faster.
