I've done business with Moosejaw for literal decades. But no longer. They were recently bought out by Dik's Sporting Goods. I vowed years ago to never do business with that company. I was so sad to hear they were being bought.
I was in the middle of an exchange when they switched over the end of January 2024. Instead of giving me my money back they gave me a gift card. They could do nothing for me other than tell me to spend the credit on moosejaw or dik's.
Moosejaw has already turned to garbage. I had to find something to purchase. Bye bye moosejaw. Good luck.
My order was shipped in two packages. Received one but not the other. The package was left on the doorstep and not by the mailbox where my mail is typically delivered. I live on a busy corner in a major metro… I contacted customer service to discuss partial refund of the order or replacement. They said there is nothing they can/will do. They shipped what I ordered. Nonetheless, my credit card refunded the money, but I have had this occur a couple times over the years with other companies. There has never been an issue with re-sending the product that was stolen. I do not plan to use this company again for purchases.
I purchased a pair of Lowa women's renegade boots. When I received them, it looked like there had been a sticker on the toe of the right boot but because they're for hiking. I thought I would let that go. The size that I normally wear 11.5 was far too large. I called numerous times to try to discuss this to return them. I ended up having to use the chat. Which was a bit of a waste. I ordered new boots and a size 11 and these boots came with cardboard inserts and the boot strings were tied properly. In other words these boots had obviously not been worn and it appears that the first pair had been worn and/or returned. I am still waiting for my credit. I have tried again today to get someone to answer the phone to find out the status they have not sent me any acknowledgment on my return. I did print a return label off their website. I wish I would've read these reviews before I purchased from them.
They sent me a camping shower & sponge system that was clearly used. It was wet and moldy. The fact that they'd sell something that was previously used and gross as a new product is shameless. I would strongly recommend any other big outdoor retailer over moosejaw.
I've been purchasing from Moosejaw by preference for years and they were great. Everything changed when they were absorbed by $#*!'s Sporting Goods. Now they can't even validate my Alaskan address (although I receive other mail just fine) and I have a decent amount of Moosejaw store credit that feels all but worthless. Goodbye lifetime returns. Goodbye free shipping to Alaska. Goodbye military, first responder, student, and teacher discounts. I guess I'll just shop at REI and Sportsman's Warehouse where I can still benefit from most of the perks Moosejaw once offered.
I was looking for this jacket all over online and finally found it on Moosejaw. Being a little impulsive, I clicked BUY NOW before I read ANY reviews. (Not a good idea!)
So I get to these reviews and was already trying to figure out how to cancel my transaction.
I look up and call one of the locations, ask if they ACTUALLY have the jacket and if it's ACTUALLY new. Yes and yes. (Some of the reviews said they were actually selling used stuff. Gross!)
So I took my chances. NOT ONLY did the jacket arrive BEFORE they told me if would, but it was packaged perfectly and was 100% new.
Someone at the store location told me that $#*!'s Sporting Goods purchased Moosejaw a few months ago. Good to know! Maybe that's what changed the direction of their customer service and reviews.
I had an excellent shopping experience here and would recommend giving them a try!
It's unfortunate when a brand you like begins to use nefarious practices. They have recently been posting sales with so much fine print that they never work. They also pitch massive reward points for everything, but then cancel them without warning and take your points. Recently they charged my Paypal account, used a gift card that was also on the order, and then canceled the order. They did not refund to Paypal until I fought with them and they refused to re-issue the gift card.
They also only post good reviews. All of my two-star reviews have never made it onto the website somehow. Look for this business to go under soon. These are tell tale signs of a struggling business. Look elsewhere for your outdoor shopping.
Buyer beware - I will never purchase anything from Moosejaw (or $#*!'s) EVER again. I purchased two items from Moosejaw at the end of January, the items did not fit so I returned them the day after they arrived. After receiving my return, Moosejaw refused to refund me to my original method of payment (as had been described in their return policy) and instead issued me store credit without asking if this was acceptable. I escalated this issue to a supervisor at Moosejaw and was told that, while he agreed this was wrong for the company to do, there was nothing he could do for me. FYI - I was told many other customers were complaining about this as well and were in the same boat as me. Do not shop here! I will be telling all of my friends and family the same. Disgusting business practices.
PSA; I am boycotting Moosejaw. They sell, not true to size clothing. Force you to pay out of pocket for the return. And then lie and steal your $. I called and followed explicit instructions for a return/exchange. Instead they gave me my $ back in the form of a store credit so I am focrced to do nothing other than reciece more garbage from them. No matter my demands or escalation, they put a new policy in place February 1st to screw the customer over and protect their own profit/gain. I'm disgusted with big companies.
Ordered SLX 11 Speed cassette 11-40 to replace existing SLX 11-34 cassette. After installing the new one there is constant metallic noise even on gears that completely match gears on SLX 11-34. I've contacted Moosejaw to check what can be the issue and they asked me to contact their Gear Wizards.
So the answer was:
"Very unlikely that it is defective. There could be a TON of more issues. I highly suggest you take your bike to your local bike shop"
Exactly the help I was looking for. Not.
I purchased 2 pairs of Smartwool shorts for my son and husband for Christmas and purchased them in October- I shop early for Christmas. The shorts run big so they were too big for them both. When I contacted Moosejaw to get return instructions I was told they would not exchange them and would not even offer credit for them, even though they were never worn! Outrageous! Now I'm stuck with 2 pairs of men's shorts that no one can wear! The shorts were not on sale so I paid $84 for them! I will NEVER deal with them again! Don't buy from them!
Doing a little research before buying stuff I saw that no one would recommend moose jaw. I don't listen to reviews but 5 out of 6 times it was a very good experience. Sometimes you will receive someone else's return in nice condition; you can't be picky for great deals. Every product has arrived promptly, clean, authentic, and in good working order. Everything is new with tags, and shipped in very humorous packaging
The ol bait and take forever to refund. I ordered a yeti cooler price was decent and they charged me immediately like anyone else. The next day i get an email stating the item color was not in stock. They would not replace the color, they said I had to place a new order. 7 days later still mo refund. STAY AWAY THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE WITH HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Then the customer service reps make a dumb moose noise when answering calls. Worst online experience ever.
After having read some reviews I felt obligated to counter some. My experience with Moosejaw's customer service was excellent! I had mistakenly ordered incorrectly and they were quick to correct it with returns a pleasant to deal with which is generally the opposite of my typical experience in these matters. Great attitude and personable! Thanks Moosejaw. I look forward to ordering from you again.
Was given nothing but the "Run Around" for not refunding my return for credit back to my original form of payment & being so CAVALIER by being so INFLEXIBLE by saying Over & Over it is Moosejaw's sole determination in which way it chooses to refund a return?!?!?! Would NOT connect me to a Supervisor, even after multiple request! So stuck with "Corporates" keeping my refund in the form of a gift card (forcing me to do business w/them) & I will Never Ever do business with Moosejaw again because of their "Unfair Trade Practices!" This is the stuff that results in Class Action Law Suits and I can't think of a company that Would Deserve IT MORE than Moosejaw!
Purchased a couple items that were on sale on the website only for my order to be cancelled a day and a half later after being told the price on the website was a 'mistake' and that I could reorder again- but at a much higher price. When I contacted customer service about it, I was given a bunch of legal language Moosejaw has that pretty much says they have the right to cancel an order if they don't like the price you paid (or it was a 'mistake'). Listen, I get everyone makes mistakes. That's life. However, I don't think it's right to cancel a customer's order for no fault of their own, and then say they should order again at a higher price point just to get more money out of them. Own up to your mistake, honor the customers' orders that happened because of the 'mistake', fix it on your website, and move forward.
Bottom line- if you find something for a great price on their website and really need the item, be hesitant. They might end up cancelling your order because they want to get more money out of you.
Add-wish I would have Googled reviews before ordering- sadly there are tons of negative reviews about this business out there.
I ordered hiking shoes. First impression was they were great but second hike created real issues. Moosejaw listened to my story and replaced with a larger size even after several uses ans several months had passed. I was truly appreciative as the shoes were a bit pricey for me. Thank you for your very helpful and prompt help. % stars +++++.
Ordered a coat at a comparable price to other sites but wanted to take advantage of the promotional 2-day shipping. The package was sent via USPS with inaccurate tracking information. It turned out to be five days instead. Do not run promotions if you are unable to honor them as some of us have to set aside time to received packages.
Now I am attempting to return the item to no avail as the e-mails are not being sent and instead I'm given "virtual high-fives". The language used on the site is very informal and condescending in a way that I can only imagine is supposed to appeal to some sort of demographic. I found it to be very confusing and unprofessional especially since the transaction confirmation e-mail sent also uses the same informal language.
A confusing and ultimately incompetent business.
I ordered 2 (expensive) items from this website; before reading the reviews. Upon finding all the horror stories, I highly debated canceling. But I had read a large sum of reviews stating that their customer service was bad and that it was very hard to get a refund so, I stuck it out.
I ordered 2 items, 1 of which I paid for the other I got with my rewards points. Both items arrived fast, in tact, and in full. Hence the 5 stars.
All I have to say is, I am very skeptical to order from this company again; so I won't be. But I figured in the off chance they're trying to turn it around, my 5 star review would help them.
Moral of the story: your reputation proceeds you.
MooseJaw styles itself like a Canadian company while being very misleading to shop with from Canada. The transaction is made in US dollars (and will not be converted until appearing on your credit card bill). They state that they are not responsible for shipping and customs fees that foreign buyers may incur (which are exorbitant). Overall, this is not a company that should be purchased from unless you are an American buyer.
Answer: This may be the only good thing about MooseJaw. It was very easy to get ahold of reps
Answer: The only transaction with this site resulted in never returning and warning everyone against it.
Answer: Although I will never use the site again, the reason I chose to try was the apparent selection, good looking site and discount at the time. That being said I will never return since the experience was awful.
Answer: Legit -- I suppose so. But it is also a site that should be avoided.
MooseJaw has a rating of 1.7 stars from 79 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with MooseJaw most frequently mention customer service and free shipping. MooseJaw ranks 77th among Outdoor Clothing sites.
