I have try Merrill edge for 1 week now and I have follow rule everything and I trading normal in the morning and place a trade then go to sleep and I woke up try login to check on my account then my account got locked for no reasons and ask me to call service desk when I called they can't explain to me why I got locked. This is so stupid locked people account while they in a trade that can't not login to account to sell it. I think Merrill edge is a scam want people to lose money not investing.
Moved small account to Merrill edge 15k in stock. The market has been moving down for several days wanted to do some dip buying. Linked my bank account to Merrill Edge moved over $50k to trade with. Money not available for 5 business days. Can't place a trade. Ok if that was 20-25 years ago, today other firms will allow trading within 15 minutes. Called to ask about it on hold for 30 min. Tried Chat Line no help tells me I have to call. So if you have an issue don't think your going to pick up the phone and be helped.
They turned off my online access for 3 weeks and never told me why and closed the account. All over someone used a personal check to deposit money in my account. Crucial sin I suppose. They refused to tell me why they shut off the online access until after they closed the account and wired that money back to its bank. Which they haven't saw yet. All i know is what Merill Edge tells me because my access is still off. They lied to me for 3 weeks saying,, it will be back on in 2 hours, tomorrow,, on and on. I probably spent 35 hours plus on hold with their customer service. I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy
Hold times for trading/account specialists is typically long but today, 3/1/22, it is ridiculous. I've tried to contact someone multiple times today and have been on hold for 35 min, 12 min and 15 min.
Closed my Merrill Edge 401K account because I now reside in / am a citizen of Australia. Asked Merrill to wire the funds to my Australian bank because not a single Australian financial institution will accept a check in US$. So what does Merrill do? Sends me a check in US$ that I can't do anything with. Have spent 10+ frustrating and expensive hours on the phone from Australia trying to get customer service to solve the issue, but instead they transfer me or give me useless advice like "google how to deposit the check" or "open a bank account in the US". Is there anyone out there in Merrill world who can help me escalate and solve this?
I have been trying to cash out my IRA for months. Just getting the run around waiting on hold 45 minutes to and hour every time. Say they need documents to verify i don't owe child support LOL! I am 60 years old my child support has been paid off for years. Send them documents from my employer and Child support services, stating i owe nothing but they say they need more info. WTF Closed is closed. So i am stuck with medical bills i cannot pay because they will not give me my money that i have worked years for. I would not recommend using this company to anyone. Now i have to take a loan out to pay medical bills, because they will not give me my own money..
Merrill, you're lucky I could not rate you lower than 1. I just retired and rolled my 401K into a Merrill IRA. Yesterday I was on hold 90 minutes for two calls to your customer service number. Today I have been on hold 1:20.30 and still waiting. Did you people forget we are your customers?
On 8-22-2022 I will be transfering to a brockerage that cares.
If you wanted to talk to a service associate on a phone, you will need to hold at least 30 mins. They are always too busy to answer your phone. And if they wanted to find you, they never call, they also don't know how to use email Simply mail you something can don' care if you can recieve it.
This is the most inapt company in America. Idiots work there. The system won't let me trade online. The reps don't understand why. I'm dealing with a $#*!ed individual that can not even place a trade. This is totally unbelievable. Don't even think about opening an acct with this company.
They lock my account and I can't withdraw I try to call they dropped the ball every time. I still haven't been helped at all even though i've been calling for over 2days until I get help from a web LÊGÃŁRĘČØV.CÖM and get all my money back
Weeks and weeks and hours upon hours of conversations (3 separate calls in which my 85 year old mother who does not hear well has to struggle to be verified, re-verified and triple re-verified) for simply replacing a deceased trustee with the named trustee in the existing trust document. Today were finally assured the account was completely verified and promised it would be unblocked within 30 minutes. It's been 5 hours - STILL BLOCKED. Multiple "teams" involved, usual COVID excuses- short handed, etc. When you hear a "team" is involved it just means no one gives a damn and no one can be held accountable. We have accounts with Etrade, TD Ameritrade, American Funds, Fidelity and AmericanCentury and have never experienced the ineptness, non-caring attitude of Merrill Edge. Please deal with any other brokerage firm other than them. Wish I could give a fraction of one star.
Do not trust Merrill Edge, I open an account with Assistant Vice President Financial Solutions Adviser,
He only show me Return Information (%), he did not mention May Lose Value, I want to close the account
After I am losing every day, but I could not find him, I left a message, he never call me back, He disappeared (run away), I Lost $2700
If you enjoy hitting your head against a wall then you should sign up for a Merrill Edge account. You literally cannot contact anyone there. It's a circular nightmare and a huge waste of time.
I've had my account for a few years and have never been able to get into my account. I thought I would give it another go, and boy did that bring back nightmares.
I've tried resetting my password online, but it always tells me there's a problem and to call a number. I've tried that number as well as the number on the back of my Merrill Edge card...and it always directs me to Bank of America (they are affiliated). But the B of A person always tells me I need to speak to Merrill Edge. So they have forwarded my call to Merrill Edge's number...but I end up back at B of A. And they have given me a number for Merrill Edge *******111), but I just end up right back at B of A.
Judging by the other comments here I simply don't know how they're still in business. They've probably gotten rid of all their phone people because they're losing money.
Stop your false advertising right now! When I open an new account with call, you don't tell me problems that the money is coming from Bank Of America, why does no one explain this problems why it's an issue after 90 days? You don't want to give to customer promotion money. So You must stop FALSE& TRICK Advertising! I am so unpleasant use your brokerage because YOU LIE TO ME! You use FAKE & TRICK! I can't reach out you so I just post it! Hope you response ASAP and give promotion Money ASAP. I waste time and my $200,000 money with you during 90days. Because you lie to me. Think about Who's fault.
I cashed out an $1800 rollover account after losing my job. Minnesota state Unemployment is requiring a letter from the institution that sent me the money including how it was accumulated. This letter is required for unemployment benefits. I have spoken with 8 people and it's as though I've never called before each time even though they say they are taking notes. The first time I was told to expect the letter; after not hearing anything I called back to find out that no, they will not send a letter. I say ok - put that in writing, that you won't give me the info - they are saying no. I keep getting transferred, told that i reached the wrong department then given same number I dialed. The representatives are nice, but in a creepy Orwellian way where you're just getting the same wrong information again and again, like they're just making it up. Nobody should be okay with providing this service. Even verifying myself can be totally different based on who picks up. This massive conglomerate is refusing to give me information only they have that I need for unemployment, and I am starting to think they don't have the information. They are comfortable saying no verbally but refuse to put that in writing. This massive conglomerate brokerage doesn't have the capacity to be handling retirement accounts. Be a trader or a retirement account place because you suck at doing both merrill.
1) Terrible Call Wait Times - I've currently been on hold waiting to speak to a CS rep via phone support for 4 hours and 30 mins. I have to call in every couple weeks (due to their buggy website) and the average wait time is between 2-3 hours. These terrible support times have been this way for at least 2 years (probably more), and Merrill Edge has done nothing to improve the situation. This is ridiculous when every other brokerage I use has <5 min wait times to speak to someone.
2) Buggy Trading Platform - Aside from the terrible wait times, I have to call in every few weeks to place my trade since the online system has a bug where it claims you have insufficient funds even though your account balance clearly has enough to cover the trade, so you are forced to call the support line. This problem has persisted for at least 2 years (probably more) as well. Previous CS reps have said that this is a known issue, but Merrill Edge hasn't devoted the resources to fix their website.
I wouldn't be so bothered by the website bug if it didn't take me 2-4 hours every other week just to be able to place a trade due to their 1) terrible call wait times and 2) buggy website. Both of these known problems have been this way for 2+ years, so Merrill Edge obviously doesn't deem them important enough to rectify. I assure you Merrill Edge, the extreme annoyance you are causing your customer base is costing you far more in revenue than you are saving from not fixing your website and hiring additional support staff.
ML blocks people because of their incompetence. Stupid, and stupid if you choose them. ML does not know the difference between an individual and a joint account.
I opend the account to get cash award. After adding money over $200k, i wasnt able to manage it and access my account... i called alot alot of time. 1hr on hold. It was nightmare. Finally they let me take my money out and lost months of managing my monry or put it in CD or buy stocks. Even one day they said dont call again... 2 months of worry and confusion... finally took my money out but they didn't even apologized... bad bad bad
I made stock purchases on the Merrill Edge account, thinking I was using the cash I had in the account. No notice, no alert appeared for me to think otherwise. I had plenty of cash there to cover all of the purchases and then some. I would check my account regularly for my portfolio performance. It was only about 1.5 year later that I for a different reason checked the activity on my account - and there I saw large margin fees charged to me every month. Apparently - I bought the stock on margin because the cash I had there was in some preferred deposit, from which I first had to sell out. Nobody told me this and I received no notices that i bought on margin nor that I was being charged margin interest. It cost me $3.5k in interest charges - while my cash was sitting in a preferred deposit in the same Merrill Edge account at a 'whopping'. 04% interest rate. When I finally found out and complained they told me they will call back - and never did! It is ridiculous that such a large firm with so much money flowing through needs to purposefully mislead their customers about margin buying just to get some extra interest charges...
Takes at least an hour for them to answer phone and when you do they transfer you all the place and you still wait. Why would anyone do business with them.?
Merrill Edge has a rating of 1.4 stars from 70 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Merrill Edge most frequently mention and customer service. Merrill Edge ranks 103rd among Brokerage sites.
