My first order with Mercari was a cell phone. I was so excited to receive THEN received a message that the seller cancelled the order because she was unable to ship. WHAT? What kind of nonsense is that? If you're selling and accept my money, even if i got a refund, why are you unable to sell. Not acceptable... Sounded like a lie...
As an app it's technically sound. The purchases are fine as long as you get good sellers, buyers and products. If you get scammed or are dissatisfied, Mercari will NOT help. If you reach out to their team you may be banned. I would not recommend unless you're okay taking a risk and knowing your purchase has no protection.
What the $#*! like ya'll already suck why make it worse and make a selling fee!? I am leaving! Done with the bull $#*!! I would'nt even give ya'll a 1 for the rating if there was another option it would be 0.
Customer service is basically non existent. They don't even have a telephone number. When you send a message regarding a problem such as a return, you don't get a response until like 20 hours later. They then proceed to tell you that you have 24 hours to submit more photos for them to approve for a return since they ignore the first ones sent! By the time they get back to you to "approve" a return request, they won't do it because the 24 hours are up! This site a freaking joke! I will never buy anything on Mercari again and am telling everyone I know to steer clear of this horrible site!
I definitely would not recommend this app since they have more fake items listed and they don't know how to tell if it is or not. But if it sells, they take their cut and don't care. Buyers are stuck with it and if they try to resell to recoup their losses, people flag that they are selling counterfeit. Other sellers will report you if you sell and have a good record just to get you kicked off if your competition. If you purchase an item and a seller ships late so when you get it, you are on vacation, Mercari will release funds to seller without you verifying the item is what is stated and delivered to your home.
A nice idea, but the company culture is is not customer friendly whether you are a buyer or seller or both.
Try Vinted or Poshmark. Only reason why I tried Mercari was cause someone referred me there. Biggest mistake.
They are nothing but a piece of sh**! I send my stuff through UPS and somehow I got damaged in transit. And they discarded the item I shipped but no one wants to pay me for the damages. So beware of this site!
I bought a sculpture from Mercari. I wasn't home until more than 3 days after delivery, so Mercari says that I am SOL. Seller wants me to file claim with shipping company. Shipping company says that I can't file claim because I didn't ship the item.
I don't know how Mecari even gets 1 star. Avoid at all costs.
I tried to by a 60 $ skate board and they never shipped my item or returned my money. They also charged me to my bank account and that's not right. I have plans of sueing mercari. I'm not the first victim. They must be stopped.
I have had numerous offers made only to have their payment declined! They don't monitor who is on site. Poshmark and EBay have an excellent payment history with me, Poshmark won't let you bid unless you have current credit card info on file.
Mercari rips you off on shipping. I weigh everything with two different scales, yet I will get notices that they are deducting more from my profit to pay "extra" shipping, yet I have never once gotten a credit for overpaying on shipping which I know I have. Their customer service sucks at understanding problems and they always strive to NOT resolve issues for a seller, the ones that they are making money off of. I would avoid selling here, I'm looking for more seller friendly platforms to sell on.
Received broken vase and they didn't want to refund me. Finally, offered a shop credit but I was so worn out with dealing with them and trying to get ahold of them, I turned to my credit card company in order to get a refund. Horrible customer service, no returns, won't answer their phone and very rude! STAY AWAY! See hundreds of other poor 1 star reviews!
There is no way to contact anyone live I'm not sure that they actually have any customer service Just some very poor application if this then that type of thing. As a seller, I believe I have been scammed twice. Both times I have tried to reach out to customer service, but was directed in circles there is no live customer service in my area at this time. Most sales I don't have a problem with, but this selling app does leave sellers open to scammers more than any other apps. There is no email to be found, no chat help... it's a pain in my a**...
So i just recently joined Mercari, and so far everything seems be fine, except for this: everytime i go to change my email or to remove my card it asks for authentication, which is reasonable, but when i type in my password it says it's wrong and when it finally works, it takes me back to my account and not to what i wanted. I have contacted them and nothing has happened. I tried to look at an order i placed and track it, but the same thing happens. And another thing, i logged out and tried logging back in, and apparently my password doesn't work. I, again, contacted them and nothing has happened. It's making me very upset and just want to get back into my account. I did try to change my password, but haven't received an email in order to change it. Anyone else having or have had these same issues? Or is it just me?
UPDATE: I figured out my issue. Apparently my email was changed, although i have to recall of changing it. Hopefully this fixes the issues i'm having
I have made three purchases on Marcari. The sales were flawless. But... when I tried to rate the seller two times it said that the transaction has been cancelled. So I'm not sure my seller is getting their money. There is nowhere to contact anybody about this. I wasted 30 minutes trying to fix this. I guess Ill have to wait until the seller contacts me, probably giving me a poor rating.

I used Mercari twice and first time it went fine. Second time I offered a price for an item, seller accepted my price and I made payment. I guess the seller (a few minutes later) got a higher bid ($2 by the way which is ridiculous I know) so she cancelled me and I received a message my transaction was refunded although I have not seen the refund hit my account yet. When I sent her an email asking why she cancelled my transaction she said she forgot she already promised the item to someone else. Really? It showed up a few minutes later sold for $2 more than my accepted bid. $2 really…how pathetic. Mercari does nothing about this unethical and shady business being done by this seller. Beware of seller with seller name "Auriy"She displays a photo of her with her baby on her profile page. I will never again purchase from Mercari and wish I would have read all their awful reviews before I tried their site. Never again!
So! Of I could have just given them no star believe me I would! After ebay went to hell I searched and found this dumpster fire! Started off okay! Made three good sales and had flawless reviews just like my Ebay store! But like flea bay they have zero people monitoring the site! I listed two authenticated coins and they were pulled for not being authentic! So I had a friend from a certain numastic society check the site! Every coin listed there of the same coins I had up were either fakes or reproductions! So he tried to put up one of his coins and got the same response! We both messaged them and they closed our accounts LOL! So honestly folks if you want a good selling platform look elsewhere! They are even worse than the Bay! Good luck if you are gonna try them
I bought a hpa tank off of mercari. Went to list it a few days later because I no longer needed it and they removed my listing for prohibited items for sale. Like what? I literally just bought this off of mercari. Ive had nemours problems with sellers and buyers. I will be going back to eBay and suggest everyone else do the same for mercari fees are outrageous aswell. Thought I'd give this app a try but it sucks. Won't be back
They do not even deserve 1 star. I sold an item which was then damaged and thrown away by ups. Mecari did not reimburse me. Stating i mailed 2 fragile bowls in a mailing envelope. Obviously they were in a sturdy box with plenty of padding. Since no pictures from ups i have no way to dispute. Why would i risk breaking an item i was selling...
I purchase from here. The product was not as they said it was. Mine didn't even work. Seller said he will send me new one never came. They don't have a phone number. When you massage them they can't do nothing about people scamming you. Not a good place.
Beware of buying from this site as returning an item will be impossible. I bought a backgammon set, when arrived I noticed that there was a large mark on one outer side and the actual inside field was peeling. When asked for a return they asked so many irrelevant questions and images that was evident that they did not want to approve the return.
For example they asked for the images of the box that arrived which had nothing to do with the condition of the game box, or images of places that had no damage.
They never addressed the fact that the images sent showed existing damage when they declined a measly $40.00 game set.
Will NEVER buy from this site regardless of the price.
