Mayo clinic site is the example of why internet is simple great. The amount of real information for any health problem you can get from this site is simple amazing. Should be a must to read before paying a visit to the Doc.

Poor care
March 3, 2022

I have been to the Mayo clinic for 2 episodes of care. Both episodes were similar experience in lack of coordination, The most recent had the most inappropriate physician, who is attempting to use his doctor card to intimidate and bully his patients and staff. He acts out, intimidates and has a resident who is going to ho along with it because his career is at stake. Wake up Mayo Clinic, review your staff and stop your physicians from harassment of other staff and patients. This applies to the the chiefs of the department.

Poor management
March 18, 2022

The management at Mankato location is completely lacking. Many of the providers leave after a year of work. Management just doesn't care about employees, they just like to sit doing nothing collecting paychecks. Patient needs do not come first, only Mayo's financial goals come first.

My experience was awful with them in Jacksonville.
Theiy didnt return calls from scheduling. The people in scheduling were very disorganized. They couldnt get their act together. It was a total mess over a month and they couldnt get to first base on scheduling.
There are better local people than this over rated Clinic.

Mayo Clinic are liars.
February 14, 2023

My spouse has been struggling from a progressive illness for 2 yrs. We really need a team of medical professionals to try to figure out what is going on, like what Mayo Clinic claims to do. 3 times we were denied. Not once were we given a reason and on 2 of the denials, we had to call them to find out because they couldn't be bothered to call us. We were told they needed records they already had. We were told 12 pages of documentation was just too much work to read through and they preferred things to be condensed to 2, and they were caught straight up lying about having a record of a doctor-to-doctor meeting. They also claimed to have sent us a denial letter on Dec 14th from their spine center, in response to a referral to the rheumatology department that had not been sent until the 15th. All I can really conclude from all of this is that Mayo doesn't actually want tough cases, they want easy ones so they can inflate their numbers of successes. That, or they simply don't want to treat trans people. Either way, they have no business working with vulnerable populations.

Never been to a hospital where caretakers care so very little. Place is a mess. Admin is a mess. Cold blooded. Breast Clinic is a mess. Dubious billing practices at JAX facility. Scheduling is a mess. Consistent false documentation. Don't believe the Hype.

Point your browser here: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/symptom-checker/DS******* - for "Symptom Checker" page.

The Mayo Clinic has for a long time established itself as one of the most trusted names, and facilities, for medial care.

This Mayo Clinic web site, allows one to single-out parts of the body and begin to answer questions that help pinpoint POTENTIAL problems.

This kind of "diagnostic" medical tool can be handy in providing insight into areas for further research, and Q&A with your doctor.

CAUTION: I do hope NO ONE will use this diagnostic research tool to SELF DIAGNOSE, and become panicked assured they are dying.

Hope you find this interesting, and that it aids in generalizing avenues for further study.

Good health to you.

EXPENSIVE care, every day, for life.
June 4, 2022

With every bill, I fail to see how they can call themselves "non-profit." They cost 3x as much as any other hospital. The care should be better than, right? Nope. Worse actually. It takes forever to get any test done. Competition across town has no problem getting it done. With Mayo the results often come back once the illness has passed.

I have health insurance, but it's hot garbage. Here's what I've paid for some of my care in the past:

I got salmonella poisoning. Visited urgent care, and was told to wait it out. Went back the next day bc I was getting dehydrated. FINALLY got them to take a stool sample. Results took five days to get back. It was too late. I was feeling better by then, and all the care was pointless. They then sent me an $800 bill. Yay.

Got told by the nurses line to go to the ER when I had norovirus bc they were worried it might be appendicitis. So I get there, and apparently was an inconvenience. The doc felt me for two minutes, and said I was ok. I get they're understaffed, I don't need to be treated like a king. However they billed my insurance $1500 for this?! HOW is that that much? Again I don't mind if you glance me over quickly, just don't bill that much for that little of care. My insurance paid maybe $30, and I was stuck with the rest.

If I could schedule a visit with my doc sooner than three months, I still wouldn't because those are $500 now apparently. I can get a visit AND x-rays for $200 LESS across town.

Colonoscopy? $7,000 UHD charges $3000 and is a much better experience.

They like to gloat about themselves more than a wall at Five Guys. Apparently they're "the best hospital" but I just fail to see it. After burning through my life savings, I'm no better than where I started on my digestive issues. Life is getting hard because of it, and I have to stop because I'm out of money. These guys are a beacon of greediness in the already in-affordable world of healthcare.

Sad
September 12, 2023

One of the doctor's that was treating my son was so rude and snobby! She shouldn't be allowed to work with kids or people! Mayo security do not talk to eachother, my husband was told its fine that he parked his van in the parking lot and sleep in it while i slept in the hospital with my son. At midnight mayo security and police were banging on the door and told my husband he couldn't stay there and move to a Wal-Mart parking lot. All mayo really cares about is money or if you have insurance! My son wouldn't have gotten to be a patient on the rehab side if out insurance wouldn't have gone through! If you don't have money or insurance don't bother!
On another note, The nurses here in the picu and general peds are absolutely amazing. They really were great with my son.

Dr. Robert H Thompson working at Mayo Clinic as a research Urologist did a brutal, diabeling, devastating surgery on me which made me disabeled with chronic pain. Students and residenst experimented on my. He did not show up on the scheduled apointment before the surgery. The 2nd year resident had no clue about the procedure and it possible complications. Mayo is the last hospital you want surgery. Mayo had over 2000 complains last year. All of them were ignored. Mayo gets paid by the number of organs the surgeon removes not by the diseas. Hovard University revied tha case: NO biopsy, not surgery was indicated. Normal live expextancy. Mayo CEO makes $3.47 million a year. You are totally ignored as Patient

A Doctor I have never met changed my Cancer Testing Care Plan the evening before the test was to take place. I asked him why on the phone... His answer..."because this test is faster". I know a thing or two about Cancer Testing after going through it a few times. Also, I understand radio-active isotopes... I dealt with disposal for 20+ years. There was no way possible that the new latest greats G68 test would yield adequate imagining. However, this great World Renowned MAYO CLINIC DOCTOR still knew better.

I underwent CT and CT with Contrast and MR and MR with Contrast twice prior which did not yield adequate results. Only one imagining test did, but NOPE... MAYO CLINIC EGOTISTICAL DOCTORS know best. INSURANCE FRAUD? Finally, it is incumbent on meeting the "NEEDS OF THE PATIENT" which is MAYO's Claim to Fame. The patient "SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE A SAY IN THEIR HEALTH CARE PLAN"... Just not at MAYO NUREMBERG CLINIC, Rochester, MN.

I was excited about going to Mayo Clinic because of their reputation, but found them to operate like a shady mechanic. I have been to many specialists over the years for my genetic condition but none that string you along like Mayo does. All other surgeons I have ever seen either say the will or won't operate. NOT MAYO. They took it upon themselves to schedule 8 more appointments for me without my permission and I am feeling like they will keep doing that without ever treating the issue I came in for originally. Then when you get your bill expecting one copay you see that they charge an extra office visit for every doctor that assisted the doctor you came to see. I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH A THING. VERY FRUSTRATING AND DISAPPOINTING!

I recently visited the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale for the diagnosis of Gastrointestinal issues. I was coming there from another state because Mayo was highly recommended for diagnostics. After undergoing tests for three days, I went home waiting for a phone call from the doctor to explain my results and to make a recommendation. After three weeks I still had not heard a peep. I called four times without getting a medical professional, let alone my doctor, on the phone. Finally, desperate for answers I had my lawyer fax a strongly worded letter explaining the situation and requesting a response. I got a call back within am hour. However, the doctor diagnosed me with a disorder that had been ruled out months before. I had made the doctor aware of this previously and tried to explain it to him again but he refused to listen and would not back down from his position. I continue to suffer, without a diagnosis. I could not be more disapointed with my experience at Mayo Clinic. I was seen by Kevin C. Ruff, M. D..
