I've been using MaxSold as an online auction tool for the past 6 years or so. I've found all manner of items and treasures and have been impressed how they have upped their game year over year. Bidding is easy, contact is great, and on pick up day they've always been helpful. Sometimes it's slow, but its usually because people are showing up at the wrong pickup time or getting large items. Overall I am more than happy and look forward to the next auction pick up day!

Great buying experience

Have had a couple of experiences from buying side - easy to use site, bidding system is fair and equitable, items were definitely as pictures, and organization for pick up is hassle free and very coordinated.

First time Amazing

This was our first time selling on MaxSold. It was recommended by a friend who was a regular buyer on the site.
From my first phone call then all throughout my sale every aspect was extremely easy thanks to the amazing professional, friendly staff. Of course there were a couple of snags, but the in person staff and the phone reps smoothed everything out with very little stress to us.
I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to sell their stuff and make some good money.

An Item I was considering had a separate picture of a matching piece but the matching piece was not mentioned in the description. I called Maxsold and the person that answered the phone, after viewing my issue, told me that if I would send an email to *******@maxsold.com describing the issue that Maxsold would contact the seller and get a clarification on the matter.

I did as requested but received this response. "Unfortunately, we only have one-time access to the premises and do not have more information other than what is present in the catalog and pictures. Please note that the description takes precedence over photographs." First of all, photographs should either match the item or take precedence over the description. Second, why would Maxsold not have the ability to make a call to straighten out the conflict. Not good business in my opinion!

Thank you Christine, Adam, George, Neil and everyone else at MaxSold that made our 2 downsizing auctions great successes. Help and advice was always available within minutes. We had the pleasure of having an exceptionally experienced and professional team that streamlined and flawlessly executed every small detail of every auction lot.
The monumental task of downsizing lifetime items became a pleasant 3 week event for us, with each of these auctions from the beginning to the pick-up. Both auctions sold 100% of the items. This, in itself is amazing.
MaxSold is an excellent choice, and in our opinion, the only choice for downsizing; fast, easy, sensible and with a wide variety of buyers. THANK YOU!

Armani, a member of their sales staff, has called me 8 or 9 times. Each time calling from a different phone number in an attempt to garner my business. This is an over-aggressive approach to sales. I don't appreciate it all. It's pathetic, desperate and embarrassing. For every additional call, email and text I receive from this company I will find a new site to poorly rate the MaxSold business.

Our apologies. Our automated calling system had a glitch which caused us to call the same numbers repeated today. Because our team members make hundreds of calls a day, they were not aware (until now) that you had been called that many times. Our experience is that potential Sellers have very little time and so we do try to connect with them as quickly as possible. We are sorry for the volume of callbacks you received.

I had to clear my fathers home when he moved. As he was out of town kijiji just wasnt an option. Besides it would be time consuming and tedious. MaxSold came in one day and efficiently staged, photographed, catalogued and posted online all of his items. Two weeks later they came back and supervised the pick up and I was paid in a timely fashion. I couldnt have been easier and I realized a nice profit

After many years of scouring the local yard, tag, estate and flea market sales... I am so happy I found MaxSold... I am able to search for items and actually get them, without having to waste the day driving around only to find the item I'm in search of has been scooped up by another buyer... MaxSold is the way to go... they post pictures and descriptions and have very upfront rules and terms... I have won several lots recently and the MaxSold staff takes the time to make sure my lots are pretty much located in the same area of the house... everything from games to furniture... I am addicted! I have recommended this site to lots of friends even strangers (they better not bid against me)... lol. I KNOW when I downsize someday, I will be getting touch with MaxSold!

Very deceptive

Be careful! Pictures does match the description which is sparse. When you go to pick up stuff it looks different. I asked for a refund for a few items and was kicked out as a buyer. Not a very nice company. Take your chances, it's a hit and miss.

Fun and affordable

Max sold makes buying items I need fun. Watching the auction and waiting to see how the bidding turns out is enjoyable.
I always feel like I got a great price and pick up is easy. Have never had any issues in the 10+ times I've bought through maxsold

They handled my 147 lots of stuff we needed selling since we were downsizing. Wonderful results and good oversight by the MaxSold team. I would highly recommend you use them to downsize or clear out and estate. The whole process was very transparent and cost effective. Don't worry about the stuff you need to get rid of, let MaxSold handle everything for you! I am so relieved to have this behind me.

Highly recommend

I have been buying from Maxsold (previously named Youbidlocal) since 2012. They have always been very professional - whether it's their online bidding site, up to the second winning or losing bids, the rapid purchase receipts once bidding closes, and their very personable customer service group on pickup. I really can't understand why there are any negative comments on them. I give them 10 out of 10.

Check your items at pickup, and do not remove items from site or you will be docked for a refund. Duct tape mattresses, pool table fabric ripped, metal lounger with broken wrung-none of it photographed while you bid. Save your time, money, and gas. Poor management and crappy customer service. Many items are inadequately marked and do not show the faults, as happened to us on at least 4 auctions we bid on. A waste of time and money. And, it ask for credibility but will not let my photos post. Go figure...

It's disappointing that we appear to have failed this customer (potentially on numerous occasions based on their review).
In any case, this response attempts to highlight the process, performance rate, and method to avoid disappointment as a potential buyer on Maxsold's platform.

Maxsold has two models - Maxsold Managed and Seller Managed. In one offering Maxsold is never on site and therefore has no visibility of the items sold. In the other, our teams catalog and thus have a bit more awareness of the items. That said, regardless of who is cataloging, both honest mistakes and dishonest actions can occur - thus, Maxsold uses a transparent claims process that has worked for centuries in the live auction world - specifically, the buyer can inspect the item in full view of the auction staff, other buyers (and sometimes the Seller) and make a claim (partial/full refund) if the item is found to be in a condition other than what was described before leaving the site. In both models, the process is the same and is outlined in the bidder terms (www.maxsold.com/terms) and on the buyer invoice:

CLAIMS: ENSURE YOU INSPECT items at pickup (and preview if available) and IMMEDIATELY inform the MaxSold team (or Seller if Seller Managed) of any issues related to mis-cataloging of condition (remembering that you are purchasing used items in AS IS WHERE IS condition). By departing from the pickup site you acknowledge that you have all your items and that you are satisfied with them and/or have brought up issues with the Lead on site. NO CLAIMS ARE PERMITTED AFTER REMOVING ITEMS FROM THE PREMISES as condition issues cannot be validated once items are released into your possession. If required, bring an expert to validate purchases at pickup. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of the Seller.

This ensures fairness and transparency to both the buyer and the seller. When a buyer accepts an item without inspection, they are waving any potential claim issues as, once the item leaves, there’s no way for Maxsold or the seller to know when the (potential) issue was created. Was it lost in transit? Damaged on the way home? Or is it someone trying to take advantage of the process (by ignoring a transparent opportunity to make a claim).

Bidders that accept and live by the terms love that the as is where is used goods start at $1 with the highest bidder winning. It’s a fair and transparent model for those who can accept and abide by the terms and conditions laid out (and agreed to) prior to bidding. To date, Maxsold’s error rate in selling used goods is unmatched in both the used and retail industry at less than 2% of all goods sold.

I have been a buyer on the MaxSold site for almost a year. I have purchased many lots of items that were a great deal, a few that were not, but that is what online auctions are all about. Only once did I have an auction that was missing one item (evidence in the photo proved it was supposed to be there) but they offered me other items of similar value. Most times I feel like I got way more that expected. Everyone I have met that work for this company have been very nice, organized, and helpful. Keep up the good work!

Maxsold is an amazing site where you can get items with real value, whether it is antiques, decorative items or useful items. You can purchase from the comfort of your home and be in control of the process the whole time. Only bid exactly what you are prepared to pay and no more. Sometimes, its a real steal but usually, it is a fair price. Lastly, so much is diverted from Landfill. If these items went unsold, they would be carted off as garbage when they are sill very useful. I love it!

Been using Max Sold for quite awhile now and have had no issues. I called the help line to ask for an extension of pickup, they called the vendor and it worked out perfectly. I've found it easy to use, pickups are relatively easy.

I have successfully bough AND sold with MaxSold. Being able to set your maximum bid means no buyers remorse and you can still get amazing items for fabulous prices. I managed my own auction and the customer service is fantastic. It all went so well I am doing another one now! I recommend to all my friends and family.

This was a wonderful experience and saved us so much time an trouble with either moving it or getting rid of a houseful of 60 some years of memories and treasures. You have proved to me that some junk can truly be someone's treasure. I was surprised by some things that sold and some that didn't. Your staff was a pleasure to work with and made it a fun couple of days plus amazed me at how organized and quickly we were set up plus the pick up day went by very fast and completely without issue. I will recommend you to everyone and anyone! FANTASTIC!
