Match.com exhibits a polarized reputation among its users, with significant concerns overshadowing its strengths. Positive feedback highlights the site's potential for connecting users, particularly for younger demographics, and its broad user base. However, a predominant sentiment reflects dissatisfaction with customer service, marked by unresponsive support, unjust account terminations, and perceived deceptive practices regarding subscription fees. Many users report frustrations over a lack of transparency and the prevalence of fake profiles, leading to a sense of mistrust. Overall, while Match.com offers opportunities for connections, its customer service and business practices warrant serious scrutiny.

Match.com's process and customer experience is nothing short of fraud. It is almost impossible to upload an "approved" profile picture. I have quite a few photos in my profile yet after taking my money, they will not approve my profile picture! I receive notices that this person and that person have liked my profile, have sent me a message and yet I cannot reach out, reply or anything, EVEN with my PAID subscription, because MATCH.COM has sole discretion with my profile picture and I'm just out of luck, and money. It seems to me that if I AM the one paying, I should be the one who decides which picture is my profile, and I should be allowed to read and respond to other members, regardless of whether or not I have a profile picture. Members can message me without my profile picture, why can't I respond back? I am 100% convinced that the majority of match.com's revenue is coming from members who are unable to use their service, which to me, is FRAUD. I mean, where is the harm in allowing members to communicate and respond without having a profile picture? Save your money. There are much better dating apps / services out there. Match.com makes so much money off this fraudulent practice that there is no reason for them to change this. I'm surprised they are allowed to continue.
This company cares only about draining your bank account as far as I can tell. The way they do business is completely unethical, and of course you can't call anyone. I couldn't even send them an email. To avoid getting stuck in their trap for God knows how long, it was about four months for me, steer clear...
I bought a 6 month premium membership because of the better price (April 2023).
Only been on there a month and it's been over a week without any match discoveries that match is suppose to create. I even broadened my search to a 60 mile radius! NO MATCHES! I should have bought just one month instead of wasting over $100 on this subscription. WORST SITE EVER!
I'll tell you why its horrible, I was a paying member. I have women friends that use it, they say they get bombarded with messages, like 20-50 a day, therefore they cannot filter the results and see you, to many. A woman that is an 8 out of 10 can get 100's in a few days by many guys, and those guys can be all over the spectrum in age and their ranking.
Men have issues with writing to 50 women and get zero results, eventually realizing its a waste of time. I am probably a 7 out of 10 with good pics. I have no kids, I have plenty of money in the bank with no payments of any kind, yet I am invisible on match.com just as I am in the real world. I have culture and been to 7 countries and 22 states in the U.S. I can talk to anyone about many topics. Trust me when I say I could spend many rainy days using Match.com and get zero for my efforts.
A friend of mine made 2 profiles, 1)he used a woman's pic that won ugliest woman award, the profile still got letters daily. 2) He also made a profile with a male model's pics, the male model got almost nothing.
You have been warned!
Long story short, I "deactivated" my account for a while. When I went to reactivate they told me after several emails back and forth that I had canceled my account. I had not canceled my account I had deactivated it. I still have two and a half months left on my paid subscription. But they told me I could not access it and I had to create a new account. They are awful in their customer service. By the way do not ever try to call them on the phone because they have no phone service for customer assistance it's all fraud. Stay away from this site I would say.
I've been dating from the Internet for about 20 years. I've had really lovely relationships and met some wonderful women. As of May 2023, I'm using multiple sites. Match is an antique. The actual connection rate is abysmal. This fossil denies spontaneity. Post a new picture? Wait days for "approval." Edit your profile? Same delay. Once you're on it, it's pimping you constantly for upgrades. I would avoid this site entirely. Once you disconnect they start sending you notice about all the wonderful people you're missing that "liked you." I fell for that, and it was totally disappointing. I think you could do better with Bumble, Tinder and even Facebook dating
Absolutely a waste of time and money.
Met 3
2 hookers and one bearded babe.

Not my type!
To say the least!
This is probably the worse dating website you can imagine. There are very few actual people on the site looking for dating relationship. Most are pure scammers and Match does nothing to weed them out. Waste of your time and money stay away.
I was on match just before covid, and it was good. However, it has now taken steps to charge more for you to get less. For example, you have to pay to send a message to those who likely would be better matches for you under a section called "Highlights." I noted the differences in that and the section under "Discover" that still allowed me to send a message. Match separates choices out and should not. Why would they have that right? Further after you "like" and send a message, you can't see what you sent unless they match you back. Further my "like" number would go up but no new profile would show up under "who liked me!" So maybe I had 32 likes and it went to 33. I would check under the "who liked me" and the profile would still be #32! Where did they go? It was very disconcerting and much less consumer-friendly. I am still unsure who I might have missed. Not to be arrogant at all, but I am pretty nice-looking, am truly slim and healthy looking; further I have a solid, non-drama profile--with some pleasant humor that would be attractive. When I was on previously, as I mentioned, I got so many responses to my likes--this time it was like they never even saw my "like" to them. I have even wondered if their "algorithm" is off? This was a complete waste of time and money since the changes are in place. I say "Run, Forrest, run!"
I signed up for Match.com and subscribe for 1 week. Just wanted to get a feel for it. Everytime I'd get prompted to verify my phone number, I'd get a notification that it couldn't be verified for whatever reason. After 4 days of my 1 week, I was pretty much locked out of my account. The only screen I see is verify my number-Which they won't do. Now I have to call support to get this fixed, so I can cancel my over priced profile before my week is up. I will be asking for a refund. This is easily the worst dating site I've tried.
I also downloaded the app, everytime I tried to sign in, I was told my email and password didn't match up. I'm using the exact same email and password I used everytime I logged into the website.
I signed up without knowing the charges and that this a big fat lie more like a disgusting scam for the most vulnerable people I strongly advise everyone to report this site so that will be shut down for good I tried to contact and get my money back but no one answered my request after I was on the site for 1/2 hour I don't understand why Google engorged all the bad reviews so far and still allow these scammers to continue robbing innocent people of our city I'm going to dispute the charges with my bank and see if I can get my money back however I couldn't even unsubscribe my account which tells me that these people are the biggest thieves I have ever seen online I hope that I can report this site to BBB and stop them from stealing from people please do not use this site at all.
I have several "deal breakers" because they really are deal breakers. I would rather have no one pop up for the day than waste my time swiping no. 95% of my matches are in my deal breakers wasting my time. I've been on the site for a month and Match is now repeating matches from the beginning that I either said NO to or who never responded. It's absolutely ridiculous and a waste of money.
My elderly parents were kicked out of this restaurant while having to wait over an hour for their table. My parents were then given a table right by the pool table and while my father went to take his insulin my mother ordered some drinks and saw that a table had opened up around the corner away from the pool table. She asked to be moved as she felt unsafe around the pool table. Long story short. They were kicked out and forced to pay for their drinks that they hadn't even drank! My mom is so upset still after a month. They have been going there for as long as the place opened. I go with them and they know my parents by name. I can't understand how the staff on that night handled this so poorly. I will never go back.
I signed up for a month of Match a little over a week ago and it wouldn't let me verify my phone number for some reason, so my account was immediately locked. I can't do anything on desktop or mobile. I can't even delete my account if I wanted to. I have been emailing (they don't have a phone number you can call) their skeleton-crew of a support team back and forth for over a week now and they refuse to correct the problem. Because I am unable to use my account and because they refuse to verify my phone number, I have asked for a refund several times, but so far they have not even acknowledged my request. This used to be one of the most trustworthy sites in online dating, but it is sketchy at best these days and the UI/site experience doesn't even come close to modern apps like Hinge. I would strongly recommend proceeding with caution when subscribing to an account. You could have a similar random issue like me and have nobody to help you. If you can't cancel your subscription you would have to request your credit card company to block the transaction. Very unprofessional business. I would recommend a more modern dating app like Hinge. Definitely one of the worst customer experiences I have dealt with.
Match seems more focused on making money than helping their clients connect. Even with their premium membership, I have a google ads feed on every page and annoying pop ups for micro purchases. Eharmony was super chill and a quality platform.I'd rather be on tinder than pay for match ever again.
No Matchs... NONE at all... once every 10 days... a guy from Newfoundland would pop up (I'm in NS). For you non-Canadians... 1000 miles for a coffee date?
I joined Match a few weeks ago. Please don't be fooled into paying a monthly or any subscription fee as you still have to pay for other things on top. So many fake or old profiles. People who Match or like you rarely respond, and once you pay your daily matches dry up instantly. Don't do it.
Christof at customer service was terrible. He asked me questions to help me and they couldn't verify my phone number or I couldnt get a subscription. So he basically told me since I couldn't remember the last person I talked to he wouldn't help me. I gave him all my personal information but he wouldn't help me after that. No phone number to call if you have problems with there customer service people. It really has poor customer service.
I signed up for 6 months on installment plan. The matches were not done very well and after 1 week decided to cancel. They refused to cancel subscription and said they would continue to take scheduled payments. Do not buy into this site. It is a waste of money. Once you do buy into it they just keep trying to upsale you to do more.
Answer: I was unable to get a refund but I dispute the transaction and got my money back that way. I said it was because they were not providing the service they claim to offer. If you can dispute with your bank just tell them you didn't authorize the transaction and the company refuses to refund you. Good luck.
Answer: No I would not trust it. There are scammers on there. They will tell you want you want to here. They are from another country. Look for key words such as widoer, contractor, travel, one child only. They will compliment you right off the bat about your smile. Not safe. Try another site.
Answer: Back in the 1980s, strip clubs were pulling all sorts of over charge and fake charge scams and forcing people tp pay. Here in Atlanta a majpr federal case against the GOLD CLUB brought all that to light and alot of changes were made in the industry... I BRING THAT UP BECAUSE... these social sites seem to be attempting the same types of scams and are getting away with it. By U.S. fedeal standars ALL THESE SITES FALL UNDER THE RACKETEERING STATUTE. Unfortunately there is NO enforcement of these laws at this time. Your best option is to dispute the entire charge with your credit card. They may not want to do this because they are seeing so much of it. BE FIRM AND INSIST IT IS A MATTER OF CREDIT FRAUD. Also be sure to indicate that you are filling a consumer notice with the Federal Trade Commision (they have online forms for this to keep a numbers count on how many people are affected by these sorts of things. www.FTC.org). If you have been a good card holder, you shouldnt have any issues except for 1: ALL THESE SITES ARE NOTORIOUS FOR REBILLING/DRAFTING YOUR CREDIT ACCOUNT. You may want to file a COMPROMISED CREDIT CARD CLAIM AT THE TIME OF THE DISPUTE and have your card issuer SEND YOU A REPLACEMENT CARD WITH A NEW CARD NUMBER.
Answer: You will have a hard time getting your money back Terri. The first time I was with them years ago, I forgot the auto renewal and tried to get my money back and they fought me tooth and nail. This time I tried both Ourtime and Match and both experiences were not good though Ourtime was a bit better. I agree with some of the answers here that Match baits you toward the end of your subscription with possible contacts, but since I cannot proof that I have to add that disclaimer. Everything you have run into with your experience I have had with mine.
Answer: You likely signed up for auto-renewal, which Match.com doesn't explicitly tell you out-right that it will auto-renew. You will not likely get a refund back for the month they charged you. However, go to your account's settings and cancel the feature ASAP. You will still have access for the month in question, but at least you will have stopped future withdrawals.
Answer: Give them a call... they always have something to scam people about...
Answer: Cancel the card you used when you joined.
Answer: That is an extra fare item and they charge you each time. Best to do your own searches and replies...
Answer: Too much don't do it!
Answer: I feel the same way Teresa, i have been on the site for 1 year now and cancelled my subscription, but was told it won't officially cancel until May because i waited to late after my initial sign up day, so i got stuck with another year. I am a handsome guy with a lot to offer, but for some reason never really got emails as i expected, i started to think the people profiles were fake or the women i was interested in didn't know a good man if his profiled slapped them in the face, just sayN. 41, recently divorced for little over a year, highly educated, working in my profession, make close to six figures, single, don't cheat, great personality, smart, don't play, and real down to earth... but i guess no one believed it or didn't like my handsome picks... IDK. Confused!
