Disappointed with Manhattan Home Design I deeply regret my decision to purchase from ManhattanHomeDesign.
Like many others, I ordered a sofa, and I'm still waiting for it to arrive. It's incredibly frustrating. I came across their blog where the owner & blogger, Becca Polak (who happens to be a corporate lawyer), claims to be "customer-centric." Yet, my experience has been the complete opposite. What's even more troubling is that I've noticed a number of glowing reviews on Instagram from what appear to be the same handful of people, which raises suspicions. Are these positive reviews authentic, or are they paid for? It's concerning that a company might be buying positive reviews, especially when it only takes a few genuine negative experiences to significantly damage a brand's reputation forever. Warren Buffett once said, "It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it." In the era of the internet, just a few negative reviews can have the same impact.

I recently acquired a Bellini sofa in this place and it's crazy how comfy it is. The polyurethane foam they inserted forms three dense layers of different thicknesses, providing a great experience for me and my family. Also! The leather they use is quite soft and elastic. The perfect combination for a central sofa :).

I purchased Eames lounge chair replica from manhattan home design. And I am very impressed by the great quality. It was just as shown on the website. Customer service is really fantastic. Loved the atmosphere at this store. We will be returning soon for our future needs

If I could give zero stars, I would. This company's customer service is disastrous. I purchased a coffee table early October and recently received the product on 10/22. Upon receiving the product the box of legs had the wrong color written on it. Still hopeful, I opened the box in case it was just labelled incorrectly. Same day I called the store and emailed the customer service email as I learned the store can't do anything from you. I've been following up since 10/22 with no response and no follow through. I will never recommend this store to literally anyone I know. It's worth spending just as much or less and getting amazing customer service from stores like Wayfair, Design Within Reach, CB2, etc.

HORRIBLE

Worst, literally worst, customer service I've ever experienced because it doesn't even exist. I bought a chair in March 2021, now it's December, and I've had to follow up monthly to check on the status. No emails, no communication, and mixed/non-helpful messages. A complete joke do not use this company for anything.

The Best Barcelona
April 21, 2022

I am the happy owner of a Barcelona Chair Replica, since Aug 2021. Great choice. First Class leather and very strong, beautiful frame. A gorgeous chair for my private practice lobby. I guess they have the best renditions in the market.

Considering the options that one can find out there, MHD is among the most balanced in terms of cost-benefit ratio. I haven't had much experience buying furniture online, but I can say that at least with this site the experience was very positive, especially since they are the kind of quality replicas that you don't find everywhere.

Terrible experience
April 22, 2021

Received my lounge chair but the arm attachment were damaged. These were replaced quickly only to find that the leather color did not match. I then initiated a return. This is when things got more unpleasant. I was sent a form telling me how to return but no label or explanation about costs. I asked to be in contact with Ben the manager and he sent me a free shipping label via Fedex. I needed to pack and send or carry to to Fedex and have them pack. My messages to Ben the manager ceased to be responded to. I spent 35$ having it packed properly. And was told I would then receive reimbursement for the chair.

Overall, a very unpleasant experience.

I love window shopping on this site. I want everything I see. Recently I purchased the Eames Lounge Chair when it was on sale. I am so impressed with the quality of the chair. The website is easy to navigate and has a nice pop up customer service person. They do a live chat and help you if you need it.

I'm still quite impressed by how accurate the high-end replicas from the Manhattan Home Design store are. Their pieces show every single detail from the original model, besides, they include very resistant and gorgeous materials such as aniline leather, plywood, stainless steel, and more. I personally have the Barcelona collection composed of the Barcelona chair, Barcelona bench, Barcelona daybed, and Barcelona table, and every single guest always asks about them since they stand out in the room.

I ordered the Papa Bear Chair in Neptune velvet. Swatches for this aren't available on their site. It was supposed to be a deep, moody green/blue with MCM medium tone wood. What was delivered is a dark mahogany colored wood with a hint of cherry wood tone, and a bright turquoise fabric that is closer to a microsuede fabric finish. I posted a review on their site, so others might be warned they would wait for months only to receive a disappointment. Also, the fabric on the inside of the wings had a deep scratch on the left and a smaller one on the right. These weren't in contact with anything during transit, so QC must've approved and shipped this damaged monstrosity anyway. Sent a ton of pics to customer service. Hopefully they arrange a return, but from the other reviews, this doesn't sound promising.

DO NOT BUY FROM MANHATTAN HOME DESIGN!
This business is committing fraud. We have reported it to the bank.

We purchased a bed frame in August 2020 and at first received very limited communication, and no bed by December (though the expected wait time was 6-8 weeks from purchase - for an item labeled "in stock" on the site).

After multiple calls and emails, we finally got through to someone and requested to cancel our order and be refunded. They promised that would be no problem. Unfortunately, we still have no refund. We have multiple emails where we have asked for information, and they continue to state that they will "mail a check for the refund in the coming days" - it has now been months.

Steer clear! And please report the fraud to your bank if you have the same experience!

I always wanted to have a Tulip table, and I always thought that getting a replica would give me the illusion of having one without actually having one. However, after buying this, the opposite has happened to me: now, I feel that it's the original, without really being it. It's just that the quality of the materials, the fidelity to the original Saarinen's design, and the cost-benefit ratio made it exceed my expectations.

Ridiculous
August 9, 2021

Ordered a loveseat on 06/24 still haven't even gotten a tracking number. They lied about shipping times in Instagram ads that I continue to get "3-5 day shipping!" I got hung up on 5 times when I called customer service and have gotten mysterious random emails from various members of their customer service team all saying different things. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Hopefully someone who works there sees this and actually talks to me because I'm furious. Complete joke.

I don't know a lot about other stuff, but, let me tell you something, these guys know a lot about Mid Century Modern. My Pelican Chair rendition is great, comfortable, great quality. Their Sven sofa is the best in the market and currently saving for my Barcelona Chair. If you are Mid Century Modern enthusiast, they are the right guys.

I ordered a chair from MHD after calling to check that it was in stock. After ordering I received notification that it was not in stock. But they could substitute another chair without removable cushions. Not happy about this attempted bait and switch. But not wanting to wait I agreed. After repeatedly emailing "Don", being told my chair is shipping, my chair has shipped, my chair didn't fit on the fedex truck, my chair is going out today, my chair will be going out tomorrow etc. It took over 2 months for the "in stock" chair to arrive. When it did arrive the arms wouldn't go on, the fit and finish was poor and they weren't helpful in any way what so ever to my repeated requests to return, refund or make it right. The top of the chair is crooked, the arms did not fit properly. There are less expensive eames replicas, that you can probably get faster, that are likely the same clone that they are selling as premium. Stay away.

I would avoid ordering from this company. I ordered four chairs in April of this year. Since I was on a schedule I contacted customer service before ordering on line. I was told my chairs would be delivered in approximately four months. I received three after five months and I'm now being told the last won't arrive until late December. This will be a total of eight months, twice the time I was promised.

Strangely, their website has shown five identical chairs to what I ordered available for shipping within 24 hours. Customer service blames it on their marketing department and tells me they're not actually available. But they tell me they can't make their market department do so.

I've now spoken to two customer service reps and one supervisor. I was told the supervisors superior would contact me. They're now ignoring me.

Furthermore, the sale prices they show on their site are indeed not sale prices. Nothing ever comes off their supposedly sales. This company practices in deceptive advertising promising short delivery times, items in stock which actually are not and sales that don't exist.
