Just opened an account locked and blocked out a few hours later. I believe this could be a potential global security breach. In which they are able to gain access to accounts and personal emails without our knowledge and or consent. DO NOT USE!

If I could go lower than one star I would. My email account was recently hacked. Someone changed my information, including my recovery email. I contacted support multiple times to try and resolve this issue as I need access to my email for work purposes in a medical office, as well as personal. I was sent a questionnaire which I completed to the best of my recollection (asking when I registered the account was a little unfair, who actually remembers that when it has been over 15 years?). I attached a few pictures of the questions they asked. I received this in response:

"Please note that the information does not match with the one on our files and we were not able to identify you as the rightful owner of the account.
Unfortunately, we are not able to provide you access to the account as we take the account security of our members very seriously.
Please note that this is a decision made by our abuse department and we do not have further information we can provide to you."

Whatever information did not match is probably because some HACKED ME AND CHANGED IT!

In response and in order to further prove my identity, I forwarded a copy of a form I had to complete, along with a copy of my drivers license, which I had to send to 23 and Me in order to change my email with them. I have not had any reply as of yet.

This is absolutely unacceptable and it is beyond the worst customer service EVER to not be able to speak to an actual person. I asked several times for a real person to contact me with no response.

I now have to try and change my email with over 35 places that I do business with and try to verify my identity with each one. It has taken hours and I am not even halfway through the list.
I would NEVER recommend this mail service to anyone.

I regret using this service and want to warn others about my experience. Their lack of accountability and transparency is appalling. Without any valid explanation, they abruptly banned my email. This occurred shortly after I signed up on their website, and fortunately, I didn't use their service. I can only imagine the frustration a longtime user must feel upon discovering that their email, which they have relied on for so long, has been banned with no way to recover it.

Why would a company offer services just to revoke them without reason? This shows a complete disregard for their customers. Their support team provided no justification and seemed indifferent to the inconvenience they caused.

Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere—this so called "mailing" service is not worth your time or money.

DO NOT TRUST
December 22, 2022

Mail.com reissues closed email address. Mail.com refuses to open new accounts without explanation stating they will get back with a reason... They can answer negative reviews within hours, it's been over a week, NO RESPONSE. Arrogant, non responsive, refuse to accept any responsibility for their errors. Could have been such an assume service, but NO!

They gotta be the worst email service in the whole goddammit world. They started off OK but really suck. Can't get into my emails for hours with these guys. The worst service in the world. This must be a China website. Why I say that is because they don't care if you can get in your emails or this sounds like your idiot $#*!ing president shot head Joe Biden. That's what this website reminds of

Not great
December 6, 2023

I had two mail.com accounts. I was eventually locked out of both because of some unspecified suspicious activity. Customer service was slow to respond and generally unhelpful. Finally managed to recover both accounts, mostly on my own, but by then had already moved my email subscriptions elsewhere. There are far better free email services out there.

Worst customer service, ridiculously vulnerable safety system and incredibly spamming ad. Even if your signed up account will disappear/blocked for no reason. If you want to torture yourself, then sign up with them!

Been with them for years. Notified them tens and tens of times of on going slow server problems, just to name one. They blame your internet or something on your end, and never fix the problem. They make you end up being stuck with them because you don't want to change your email address!

January 14, 2023

Was a good free service and then I signed up for premium for 1 year after that year was up there was no option to go back to free service as premium offered no value now I am frozen out of my account and there is no customer support to contact. It is a sophisticated scam they are clearly playing a long game.

I don't understand the negative reviews listed here. I've used Mail.com for a month, and haven't had any issues mentioned at all. I'm not a business, just using it for my personal and genealogy use. I like the clean and organized interface, the presentation of the service, the ease of use, lots of features for a free account.

The things I don't like about it, s the service will log you out after a small period of time of inaction. It's a bit cumbersome to get to your email box. It also provides unnecessary messages, such as leaving the email site, informing you're waiting for more than 3 seconds, "click here" option. It seems to me they gear a lot of that for beginners. About 99% of people don't need that handholding.

With that, I would never use this service for a business or business related use, as it doesn't provide encryption the emails. So for someone who wants an nice email service for personal use for friends, clubs, and bloggers, this is a great option.

Account was closed by their mail.com system with out any notice and all of our emails and data were cancelled

I wonder how can they stay on the market with such a miserable service

Perhaps they pay some freelancer from india, balgladesh or pakistan to code their mail.com webmail
Maybe that's a love story between mail.com and the pakistani programmer? And perhaps they don't want to hire anyone else?

Paranoid losers
August 10, 2021

I just signed up for my new account, received confirmation, stating that the account is now active and I can use it. But at the first attempt to sign in, I received an error message saying something like "we have detected a suspicious activity on your account and blocked it for your security". They offered alleged steps to recover account. I've completed all steps 3 times but my account remains locked for no reason. Mail.com are a bunch of crazy losers.

I set up an account for my daughter. After an hour the account was blocked for some strange reason. After sending a question to support I got an enigmatic answer that it will remain blocked and there is nothing they can do.
Summary: If you want to have a secure account and a peaceful sleep at night avoid mail.com

A few weeks ago the people that run Mail.com said they were getting new servers and everything should start working more smoothly. I have not been able to access my account in 3 days, it keeps telling me either wrong name and/ or password, or a problem connecting to servers, how does one go about cancelling their account?

At first several years ago this email site worked adequately, but slowly got worse. Recently they took money out of my credit card without my permission to allow me a Premium Status (limited ads). Now i can't even get on my old email and see what's there. This company is a waste of money and provides no service, even if you ask them. Stay away!

Ok, so a few weeks ago I decided to try mail.com (I was fed up with Gmail and their "information sharing" policy). Everything went normal for a first few weeks (I did not send or receive many e-mails, I only used the account to order some domains and hosting).

Now I'm unable to log in to my account - the screen says that they "blocked account as precautionary measure" due to "irregular activity"... What irregular activity?

Needless to say - I'll never use their services again..

Insanly bad
July 27, 2015

Better use an another free mail provider, as this has some serious issues. The worst thing they will do to your mail is block it for no apparent reason. Which is very bad if you had your email for business. Secondly, you will get a ton of spam emails in your main inbox folder, but in spam folder there will be zero of them. Is spam filter even working? Thirdly occasionally i can't receive any of emails that were sent to me.
Actually there are a huge amount of problems with mail.com and this problems will only affect you, so as other reviews, i will say stay away from them.

All email accounts were blocked for unusual activity after 1 month and when I responded to the email link was told that the accounts will remain blocked until further notice by decision of the abuse department. Luckily, no important emails were yet setup. Totally stuck and accounts cannot be accessed or used. If you want safe and reliable email service and customer support, look elsewhere beside mail.com. Lesson learned

Abysmal
July 5, 2021

It's now impossible to send emails to any business from mail.com as the domain seems to be blocked by email gateways. I have contacted premium support about this many times over the past couple of months but no reply until a couple of days ago when one of their guys responded telling me to check my spam folder and that I should assume emails were delivered unless they were bounced back.
Duh! I have sent them around six examples of rejected messages with all the warning stuff that came back with them.
Given the quality of support I am starting to wonder how much longer this organisation is going to be around. They have nowhere near enough staff and from what I have read on other posts here their attitude and competence is pretty poor.
I am migrating to another provider as fast as I can. Anyone with stuff on their cloud should retrieve it asap.
