New owners
January 31, 2020

This company used to be wonderful. They would send out coupons on my birthday and on other occasions. I could go to my account and check if I wanted to have auto-renewal or not. Now, all that has changed with new owners who I believe is Meredith.,. Such a disappointment. I don't dare order any longer.

Save yourself lots of grief

Ordered four gift subscriptions on November 11. No one has yet to receive their magazines. Called and discovered it will be another month yet. Are you kidding me?!
Worse is their customer service. They couldn't even help me with two of the subscriptions, forcing me to call that magazine direct. WTH is the point of this useless company?

Ordered a magazine for my son and never received it. Got an email from magazine.com saying to email them at a help address if magazine was not received. Did that but got no answer. Tried their other email addresses with no response. They are however very good at sending spam emails several times a week.

Call me old-fashioned but I still subscribe to Cosmo, Elle and US Weekly, and I also like to get friends magazine subscriptions for presents (it feels like a bit of a treat!). I usually get my magazine subscription either from my frequent flyer miles or through Magazines.com.

magazines.com offers tons of magazine subscriptions. Some priced quite inexpensively and some not. It definitely pays to look at the prices here (they often sell the 'over prints' from the publishers). The magazines are the originals and getting them for 25% - 50% off list price is the way to go!

I have been buying for myself, family, and friends for years and they have always delivered/renewed. Dependable and good service.

**As of 12/2014 they have been part of the ebates.com money rebate program for years giving anywhere between 20% and 40% of your purchase price back to you in an ebates check!

Cons: 1) Some of the magazines are auto-renew only. It is made clear but it is still a pain to change it to manual renewal only. It can be done but you have to know how!
2) Cancelling a subscription must be done via phone/customer service rep or email rep. They will cancel it, but you have to make the effort to do it.

I won a free subscription to 6 magazines of my choice, by completing a survey, only pay some low price for shipping. I gave my Pay Pal info. I was excited. Apparently, I. Missed the fine print. I was charged about $65 for these "free" magazines. I never called to cancel. A few months later, they pull $65 again for renewal of 4 of these magazines. I call to cancel, interact with an automated system and can't get a refund. Instead, I will get the magazines I just paid for and will not be charged in the future. Rip off!

*Update* I called Magazine Service Center/Synapse at *******721 and within seconds the rep canceled my subscription and issed a refund. I got the refund within a couple of days. I uograded the review from one star to two for that reason.

Ive been using Magazines.com for many years and have never had a problem. The prices are low and the service is very good. Other reviewers have complained about the auto renewal of subscriptions. I recommend that as soon as you place an order, go directly into your list of magazine subscriptions and turn off the auto renewal for your magazine. If you forget to do this, Magazines.com also emails you about a month before the subscription will be renewed so you can change/cancel it if you want. Also, Magazines.com sends emails with specials, discounts and coupons $5 - $7 off.

STAY AWAY!

Ordered a "bargain" subscription from them. 2 issues came then stopped. Tried to contact them by email and the only response was to be put on their mailing list to get numerous offers to subscribe for other "bargains." If you don't want to throw your money away, stay with the publisher! I appeealed to "Time" mag and they have no record of my subscription!

Nothing but a rip off!

Just like others I never received the suscriptions I bought. Then, when auto renew took money from my account, they claimed to have no record of me and told me to contact the publisher. The Paypal record clearly showed it was Magazines.com. That received payment. Don't do business with this company.

Ordered a magazine and never received it.
I ordered this magazine in November contacted them a week ago 02-11-2021 they said give it a few days we contacted the magazine to see whats wrong.
Few days later get a email we are still working to see where your magazine is, i wrote back maybe if the cant answer you within a week maybe i should cancel that's not good business practice they said give a few days today 2-23-2021 i get a email we are working to get your subscription filled. Wait what?
You are telling me i ordered this in November and they have not even filled it yet?
I wrote back told them they were a sham and never put my order through and return my money now not in a month or two weeks NOW.
They are worthless and should not be trusted.

I tried this service twice. The first time, after many weeks, I got a letter saying "for some reason that we won't explain, your subscription couldn't be processed." So I tried again, this time with a different airline's miles. This time, I called after the magazines didn't arrive during their extremely long 3 month waiting period. When I called, they again said that they couldn't apply my Frontier miles to the magazines. But they did not bother to inform me at all and they did not offer any solution whatsoever to repair. These folks are a scam! Put them out of business!

Way Too Scammy

I get my mom a subscription to People magazine. They will NOT let you refuse automatic renewal. I subscribed for 6months w/o auto renewal. I told them twice. They gave me a1 year with renewal.

I agree with the former negative review! This company was fairly good until Merideth took over! Right after the Merideth company took over the site, i could not access any page that would tell me how long my subscription was for. Magazines.com used to have this page available. Then the page that SORT of showed my subscriptions was totally dis organized and i could not get an answer from customer service except that another company took over! NOW i cannot see anything about my account at all except that every time i try, i'm told that i'm already signed in!
Looks like now i'm going to have to tell PayPal to block any payments to Magazines.com! And by the way there is no PayPal option to pay anymore either! Buy your magazines somewhere else!

HORRIBLE

They took money and I should have had been getting my magazines but all they keep saying is they are coming in two weeks. This has been going on since January. Go directly to the magazine to order. These people do not back their orders. They say well the Publisher... and they do not return phone calls. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM!

This company profits from unethical business practices. Ordered subscriptions I never received and customer service is nonexistent. It wasn't until I wrote a poor public review that they contacted me and gave me my money back. At that time, they told me they have no way to follow-up with the subscriptions once they are placed. So if you choose to believe them, you are crossing your fingers when you order with magazines.com. Too many similar stories to be coincidence. They no longer have a bbb rating and my review was removed.

I never received one issue of magazines. I asked customer service when I canceled and never received a response back. I should have received 4-6 issues. Don't waste your time or money with mags.com

When you place an order they sign you up to have your subscription automatically renewed without telling you. When they renew the subscription they send you no notice they are going to do this until AFTER they have renewed it. If you try to turn off your automatic renewals, they will not turn off the current renewal, they will only turn off next year's renewals. This is a very shady way of doing business. Also, if you call you are put on hold for at least 15 minutes before they will answer. When they do answer, they try to sell you more subscriptions!

I ordered four separate magazine subscriptions in September and have only received one of them, "Coincidentally" it was the cheapest one. Two of my subscriptions almost automatically renewed before I even have received them! Trash
