Bought a pair of jeans but they were way too small. I returned them within 30 days but they charged me return postage and gave me my refund on a gift card because they start counting on the day the order was placed and not when it was received (nearly a week later).
Ordered leggings for a Christmas present on December 1st. Had my order cancelled today, December 23rd because they sold out?! If they had communicated earlier I would have ordered something else from them. Now I'm stuck running around last minute.
Totally ripped me off. I used a gift card in combination with a credit card. I returned a few items and was refunded the gift card FIRST. Literally gave me a $100 e-gift card and $5 back on my credit card. I reached out to customer service and talked to upper management and they just said sorry that's our policy. Genuinely feel like I was stolen from.
If I could give Madewell minus stars, I would. This company is scamming customers. Sale items are non-refundable. And sizes of jeans are incorrect, leaving the buyer to rely on reviews to guess which size will fit. I ordered 2 pairs of jeans at $40+ each as gifts and now I am informed they are non-refundable. Bad business practices. Do not buy anything from Madewell.
Ordered a pair of slippers on 11/20 for a Christmas gift. They don't fit so I tried to initiate a return. They have a hard and fast 30 day return policy. This is the only company I know of that doesn't lift their 30 day return policy for the holidays. I even called the customer service line thinking they would surely lift the policy for a holiday order - but no. I will not buy from Madewell again.
First, being on hold for over half an hour is ridiculous. Second, one of the items I ordered showed in stock when I placed my order. However, when I check order status one of the items says "wait listed". Not an email from them to that effect. Third, my items have still not shipped over a week later. Lastly, constant barrage of sales spam emails. If my daughter wasn't so in love with these products, I would NEVER do business with them with my hard earned money!
I placed an order then had to reorder my item. I returned bc it didnt fit and was promised a giftcard and also was charged for my item...no integrity with this company and all lies.
I purchased a pair of shoes for $118 and received them today. I used my so called birthday discount of $25 on the order making the purchase price $85 plus $5.95 shipping. The shoes are now on sale at 25% off. I contacted customer service and asked for the sale price. Apparently you can't use a birthday discount on merchandise that's on sale. Rude customer service agent!
I ordered from australia. I had to return part of my order due to an incorrect item sent, and size issues. The want to charge me $50 and $70 AUD for returning even though there website clearly states returns cost 11.53 AUD. I'm also a madewell insider, however they still want to charge me.
Their excuse? This is what the courier charges them. And the amount shown is listed under US returns. Regardless of whether this information is under the US or international header. If you claim this is just for US customers, then why is the amount in AUD? This is intentionally misleading!
I purchased several items from Madewell. One was a long sleeve the dye shirt. I had this top for about two months and I noticed several small holes in the stomach area. I also ordered several t-shirts some are muscle shirts. I had the same exact thing to happen after several months small holes started to appear near the abdomen area. The t-shirts also faded easily. I always wash my clothes according to the tag and hang them to dry.
Shopee has just recently adopted new system of frequently cancel items when sellers unable to ship products or manage their stocks in time for delivery. This is not the right process of ecommerce. The company try to hit it big during particular day of campaign or promotion. Getting consumers to buy but in the end, they either face losing their coins, waiting long for delivery with no updates or worst cancellations without any informed notice. This is not how ecommerce is managed. The company need to stringent check if their sellers have available stocks during consumers purchase on destinated dates of promotion. These items ordered are in need by buyers most of time. As a consistent user of madevell
I will now opt for other ecommerce platform.
I have no complaints about Madewell. They always ship strictly with UPS which means there's no SmartPost (going through USPS and taking extra days to deliver). Their customer service is friendly, helpful, good return policy, and their products are overall good quality.
My BIGGEST complaint (which is why I dropped one star) is the fact that this website still lists "out of stock" items even when it has been months since the item was out of stock. It's really frustrating to look at, as I wanted some of the out of stock items. Madewell leaves them up for absolutely no reason except to torment people.
Other than that, I seriously have nothing bad to say about Madewell. They often make mistakes in their orders, but they are generous enough to refund you and even suggest that you can keep the previous item or return if you choose to.
My daughter purchased me a sweater that had a little more wool in it than my skin liked. I live nowhere near a Madewll so I was given a customer number and emailed a return label. I sent it out immediately on January 9th. It's over a month later and they still have not emailed me the refund. Ever time I contact them I get someone new who asks for the same info that is easily found in the feed of responses. I'm so angry that I have to waste my time with this! Do your damn job and take care of your customers! Horribly run returns. Ridiculous that it is taking this long!
The customer service is absolute the worst EVER! Try to call and you are on hold for more than 40 minutes, I tried twice and hang up. Merchandise was promised for Dec. 28th and on Dec. 27th it was not even shipped. To make it easy to get out of this purchase I cancelled my Visa card, never before have I experienced such a lousy customer service. They say email us and we will respond within 24 hours, of course not true.
Horrible company! They took my money in paypal twice without confirming my order. They kept me on the phone for over an hour with ZERO solutions. I was told there was nothing they could do I even had the paypal transaction number and they didn't care to even take it from me. I tried contacting them through email and their solution was to call customer service AGAIN! HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! Company doesn't care about customers at all.
I purchased over $600 of clothing last week and it arrived on Monday. I really liked the items I received so I put another pair of jeans and a pair of leather boots in my cart. Then I saw an ad for "insider rewards." I'm like Idk about that! So I sign in and it recognized a purchase from 8 months ago for a single item, but not my 10 item purchase from last week. So I use the live chat feature and they tell me that they won't give me any credit for the items I purchased despite the fact that I received them less than 3 days ago. I asked to speak to someone else about it but she said they would tell me the same thing. So I didn't even get to try to resolve my issue with someone else. I said I was planning to make a $350 purchase today but this made me question the purchase and she didn't seem to care. Why purchase from a store that will give you zero credit for purchases you made days earlier? Not me. I'll just order from a more reputable store.
I ended up on the wrong email list (US instead of the EU), hence I got bombarded by emails not related to me and with offers not applicable in my country. Contacted them and got the answer that I was on the wrong list. They asked for my country of residence (which they should know given that I ordered from them) but I answered. The nothing for weeks. Kept getting the same emails. I contacted them again, no reply. Then I unsubscribed for a bit more then a year.
I then decided to give them another chance because I do like their cloths. Yet again I got the wrong emails and yet again they didn't reply, so once more I unsubscribed.
What bugs me the most is not that I get the wrong emails, it's that the are arrogant enough to not reply. Also stupid because I did actually rave about them to friends and family and now I do the opposite. Can't trust a company who can't even solve the simplest thing or answer a polite email from a customer.
I do a lot of online shopping. I can honestly say this company has the worst customer service. I was sent the wrong item. They want me to ship it back to them and then reorder my item. So they made the mistake but they want me to fix it. Not shopping with them again.
I place an order today. It never said that one of the items was out of stock, I received an email stating that one of the items was out of stock after order was placed. I called to cancel the order, the customer service dept. were unable to cancel it because they were not the wholesaler of the product even though they sell it on their site and provide their number on the invoice. Also the address for the shipping and billing ended up wrong so i dont know if it will ever be shipped to me. Don't buy from them because you wont know if you can return your item.
Bought two pairs of pants to come in the mail. They got lost in the mail and they the resumes to give me a refund unless they received the package back. How am I suppose to return something I never received? The guy was super arrogant and refused to listen to me. Never again am I buying from them because of this experience.
Answer: I usually wear an XS but at madewell I wear an XXS. It runs bigger I think
