Been a 6 year customer but needed to make a change to meet business objectives. When I contacted my account rep, I was told multiple times that they could not make financial accommodations. We were locked in to a contract that must play out. That's when I went back to look at their Terms of Service:
2.5. No Cancellations. Except as otherwise provided for herein, Customer may not cancel, terminate or rescind a subscription during its term. Any and all payments by Customer to LMI for access to the Services are final.
BEWARE: You have no right to cancel. Think about this before you use their service.
After 8+ years of being a loyal customer, I started having billing issues about 6 months ago. I had changed banks, and the system would not make the necessary change; my old bank kept being charged. I gave them an alternate billing card for a "one-time" charge, and they ended up double billing it for months before I could get that fixed. The refund went to the wrong account, so I still have no refund. They won't allow me to cancel my annual contract, even though I've been a customer for so long. They're not available on weekends when you often need help. Phone calls take forever to be returned - they are often in meetings. I've canceled the service and am not using it, but they continue to charge me $83 per month for no service. It's too bad - they used to be good - but no longer.
This site is amazing. You install the software on the machine you want to access from elsewhere. Then using any browser anywhere you can access your computer by entering in a couple of passwords. The software to install is absolutely free (there's a free version that never expires). If you need more functionality such as printing or file transfers you will need a more advanced version (Pro) that requires a fee which isn't even that bad. For file transfers, I get around that by email files to myself (as long as they are not too big).
They also have options for access on your iPhone or handheld devices but those apps cost money. I've never tried them, but I would imagine them to be worth the money for ones that need access to their computer remotely from a handheld.
Don't try to talk to their customer service about overcharging. They are very inflexible and offer no refunds. I was charged for 3 subscriptions and because I didn't notice it until I got my credit cards statement they refused to refund. Bad Customer Service. I would never recommend this company.
After they removed the free version, I signed up for the Pro service at $52/yr.
I have not used the service in over 6 months, and this year they charged my credit card for more than double the initial amount - without notification or confirmation.
There is no way to cancel the service online, so I called their support number which was closed - no ability to leave a message, just disconnected. Finally, I opened a support ticket requesting cancellation (2 days after they charged my credit card -- but on the SAME DAY as it was supposed to renew) -- and they refused my refund.
They still have not cancelled my account.
Presently pursuing chargeback via my financial institution and have this company tagged as predatory and anti-consumer
8 year user of Logmein. Finally got too expensive to keep. Figured I would try Remote PC fully expecting to get an inferior product since it was 25% the cost. To my surprise it works so much better. Tried canceling Logmein midway through the year and they would not prorate a refund. Hopefully they will die a slow death.
I signed up for a trial subscription. Since then, even though we did not use the service, our credit card was charged for the next (2) years. When I called customer service, they could see that there was no activity on the account, but refused to give a refund. They said email renewals were sent to us. Of course we could not pick those emails out of the 100s of emails warning of of an unauthorized log in attempt. This company is terrible!
They invaded my computer, kept me from using the Internet pulled me into thinking they were an apple company and screwed up my whole computer it took me two hours to fix there pop ups would not go away they are a total scam!, and should be arrested! STAY AWAY!
It seemed harmless at first. It worked. But then I stopped using it. It still opened on launch even tho I set the setting to not open at launch. I didn't think too much of it since a couple other apps had the same problem. It's not like other apps tho. It got worse. It now opens at launch and reopens itself when you close it. It also SITS IN FRONT OF ALL OTHER APPS. You cannot minimize it. You can put it in the corner, put in on another page, but that's the best you can do. It refuses to close, OR LET YOU UNINSTALL IT. This is the tell tale sign of malware. I will have to take it in or purchase a program online to get rid of it. Save yourself the trouble and never install it.
The "Free" version has been downgraded to force people to pay for upgrades. A slight discount was offered. However, the discount disappeared on the final day before it should have. I wanted to bring this to their attention, and expected them to at least honor the pricing they had sent me twice this week.
The contact page has no contact information except for press, "security", and investors.
The FAQ "how do I contact customer support" states that there is a "team" who is "here to help", but that appears to be false. It says there should be a "contact support" link of some sort either on this page or the support page. There is no such link.
The "my cases" page says that one can "reach a support agent", which is false, and that I will "have the option to create a case" which is false, or to "contact support", which is also false.
Oh, and although it is no surprise, the "AI" bot couldn't even parse the question, let alone provide an answer.
I've used LogMeIn for years. I got it first to help manage my elderly mother's computer, and for the first 10 years or so, it was pretty good. Reasonably priced for a 2-seat setup, and generally reliable.
About 3-4 years ago, however, just as the price shot into the stratosphere, the reliability went into the tank. At this point, my LogMeIn logins (mostly to my own computer, now) are about 50/50. Half the time it works fine. The other half, it stalls after login, leaving the target computer inaccessible until I can go an personally reset.
Notably, the decline in usability closely paralleled rapid price increases.
I also hate the company involved. They auto-renew with NO notice, with big price increases, year after year.
What crooks!
Made me a believer went into my computer and locked me out to where I had no choice but to call. Then went in remotely as I expressed my fear and showed how they work for Microsoft! At the very end after all the bs he ask if I do online banking I said some of course this is a new computer and I have not saved anything to do with bank. He then tells me all I need done and I need to pay 149.99 to get back in my computer. I am on workers comp with back injury and taking classes online and was I the middle of studying and money is tight and I could not afford that until Fri. He then tried to get me to pay 100.00 and that was as low as he could go! Now he is done and starts deleting everything telling me I can restart computer as he unlocked the block! Microsoft needs to handle this as it came through as if it was them! Thank goodness I didn't pay and came straight here! This just happened and wasted an hour of my studies!
Told the guy a day before our renewal was up that I wanted to cancel. He responded with the typical "You agreed to this many days blah blah" I asked I could just pay one month and he rudely declined. I told him I would perform a chargeback because he's refusing to work with me. He responded "Good luck, nobody ever wins those against us"
Jerk to the core. I will never do business with this company ever again. They're overpriced anyway.
They raised their price from $349 to $839 and charged my credit card without any permission and notice. We called we asked for a supervisor, they said lowest price would be $599. Supervisor was rude and had no concern for a loyal customer. We had them reverse the charge and cancel our service. Note we were at $199 for years (for 5 users), they raised us $349 (same 5 users) last year (which was a lot), and now this year charged $839 (same 5 users).
Their price increases have gone up 400% over the last two years, they never send e-mails that your contract is coming up or that your price is going to double yet again and then on top of that they don't allow you to cancel or non-renew online. I think the latter should be a source of litigation.--They used to allow canceling or non-renewal online but stopped that right before their massive price increase. Imagine... An online services company making you call them and sit on hold to cancel your product... Unethical and they just need to go away.
They've ruined whatever used to be a fantastic product and their sales people are terrible. I told them I'd look at competitors for a quarter of the price and they said "Well, they have a quarter of the features." Give me a break, it's remote desktop.
After being overcharged, I have tried to contact the company to get this resolved. I was on hold for over an hour both times I tried to call and finally had to attend to other business and was forced to hang up. I sent an email and after a week. Received a canned reply that they are overwhelmed with tickets and to send an email if i still need help? Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Still no resolution 3 weeks later...
They upped their subscription price by 300% without notification first of all. My experience using their service was poor due to drops and very slow responses from connected computers and when I asked them to cancel my subscription they refused to give me even a prorated refund. No way to do business.
I initially used logmein sporadically for a couple years and liked the price. However, they upped it dramatically with very little notice. And surprise they don't offer refunds in their terms. I called and tried to cancel and disable but they will only set it to "non-renew" and the service remains open. There are many companies out there that are better and offer better terms so avoid this one. I also inquired what other companies they are affiliated with so I could avoid them too and the rep wouldn't specify. Very dodgy company!
Wanted to "clean my Mac" and was immediately sorry that I paid the $39 USD to do so. Customer service technician in India speaking broken English while accessing my computer did not give me a warm and fuzzy. Advised me that I needed to spend another $199 on more "cleaning" and it took a solid 3 minutes of forceful conversation to get him out of my computer.
Answer: Here is the phone # I got: 1 855 746 -0220 or 1 877 641 4831. You can called but no use, since its a scam where they try to get your money & don't care what you have to say. When they remote control my computer, my computer got worst cause in the first place, nothing was wrong with my computer. They just wanted me to buy their security system & the tech support person doesn't even know what they are doing cause now my computer is messed up & I have to call another tech co. To help me out. The best thing you can do is call your credit card co. To dispute the bill unless its too late.
Answer: Maybe for the US only? A bunch of scumbags if you ask me.
Answer: If you have it on a credit card call the service number and explain to them the situation. You can stop it on your end and there is a possibility you can get your money back.
