In the past, I have appreciated the quality of LL Bean products. Over the past years, I have been displeased with the lessening of the quality and value of products being offered. Products currently being sold at LL Bean carry a premium price but are often made in China. I should just go to Walmart to buy China made products at a better price!
I ordered my husband some jeans for Christmas 2022. They were a little too tight so I went ahead and returned them on December 26th. UPS informed me they arrived at LL Bean on the 29th. Today is January 10th and when I checked with their customer service department, I was told that it may be a few more weeks till they process my return. They are only processing returns from December 22nd as of today. So by the time I get my refund (if I ever will) it could be several more weeks. Through the years I have purchased lots of items for my husband from Bean, but after this I am done! So disappointed in their customer service. BTW, I had already re-ordered the next size up the very day I returned the first pair. The agent I talked to on the phone was very kind, and I realize it's not her fault. So I told her to please tell management about this conversation.
She said she would.
I am an ole Mainer that has settled back in the Smokies for my retirement and all though I can't make that Freeport trip on a regular basis I purchase on line with this great company. The best customer service that offers great products.
I miss that old discount store across the street in the back parking lot. That was LL Bean!
We ordered house shoes understanding the would arrive after Christmas. Called 2-3 times and LLBean said they were back ordered. Called AGAIN today (2. 1. 2021) asking when they were to be shipped and LLBean said they cancelled our order! We were never told. NOT ACCEPTABLE LLBean. Why would we ever order from you again?
Have ordered four items from LL Bean in last six weeks or so. One tshirt was actually so cheap that had I seen it, I would never have ordered it. I then ordered the $70 pants which I usually get for my husband and the inseam was off by over an inch (actually I think closer to two inches, at any rate, they touched the floor in the back), ordered two knit cardigans in the same size and one of them would not come close to coverage/closure in the front. Go figure. It costs alot to send these things back. For the pants, I would have hoped since they clearly made a mistake, they would cover the postage. Nope. For the crappy tshirt, I would have hoped they would not accept that lack of quality and for the non-uniform sizing, well, that is just the last straw. I would add that the cheap tshirt had washing instructions in Chinese and Spanish but not in English. Sad. This used to be my favorite retailer and an always reliable go to favorite.
I'm sorry to have to write this review but I can't stay silent any longer! I've ordered from llbean since the 80's when their clothing was made with quality. Over the years ive seen it steadily go downhill. As a result the only thing I still order is their turtlenecks. WELL, I've always worn a size large until several years ago the large would shrink so much that the sleves were 4" to short and they no longer stayed tucked in. So, I went to the XL until 2 years ago when the same thing happened. A month ago I ordered 1xl ones and after washing them twice the sleves are again to short and they will hardly stay tucked in, ugh. My size has remained the same so I know the fault lies in the product itself. These recent turtlenecks will be returned and I will discontinue any further llbean purchases. It's sad that the quality of llbean is so poor now, yet their prices are still so high..
I just purchased a Bike through LLBean, It finally came from China. When I went to install the peddles, you could see the threads were not in good shape in the cranks. I did install them finger tight for about 5 threads so that I know it was not cross threaded. The peddles then went in in about 3/4 of the way with a wrench until they would go no further. I figured it is what it is, well 1 month later all the threads failed on the right crank and the peddle fell out. I call LLbean and they accuse me (I have been an auto mechanic for 35 years) of stripping the crank out myself and refuse to send me a crank. I will be returning the bike.
They used to be a reputable business. FYI, my girlfriend got a new bike as well from a different company and I assembled that one without issue.
Ordered a snow tube and received an email couples hours after saying it wasnt in stock anymor. Ordered the other color (it was in stock on the website). Received quickly another email saying it wasnt in stock. Replied to them asking them to cancel an order for the 2nd color (since they were able to cancel mine quickly) never received a response… will never buy there again
Ordered a pair of shoes and after 15 days they still hadn't arrived so called customer service and was on hold for 25 minutes before someone picked up! They said their warehouse was being reorganized which was slowing everything down so they hadn't even shipped my shoes yet. He said I'd be transferred to customer service and I was placed on hold for ANOTHER 10 minutes! A lady again mentioned the warehouse problem and she couldn't even give me a deliery date. I told her to cancel the order and that it was unacceptable that I wasn't even notified about the delay sooner. I'll never order from here again.

As a new customer I expected to get not only the 10% promo but also the 15% for being a new Bean credit card holder but they wouldn't combine the offers so I cancelled my Christmas order! It was gonna be a LLBean Christmas for my entire family, but not now! You turned this shopper off!
I have just spent an HOUR+ on the phone with at least 6 reps from LLBean and their associated Mastercard, trying to make a purchase with my new approved card. NO ONE knows how to do their job. I kept getting sent to a different person, only to finally be hung up on with no purchase made. Guess what? I'm going to take that as a sign that THEY SUCK and don't deserve my hard-earned money.
I bought 2 medium men shirts, both M regular, traditional fit but one is 3 inches longer than the other one! What are they doing?! Don't they have any standards anymore?! They ruined the sizes
Wanted items that weren't in stock in the store. The salesperson was super helpful - placed an expedited order, gave us a military discount, and promised a receipt by email. The email receipt never came, and the day before scheduled delivery I got nervous. It took three store employees (including the manager) nearly half an hour to get me an order number but they still couldn't give me a receipt. I called the warehouse with my order number and found that the order was now scheduled to be shipped the day it was supposed to be delivered, arriving too late for the trip I needed the equipment for. LLBean failed me at every step once the order was placed.

Bought two pair of hiking shoes and the fit is great, quite compy with the orthotic. But they were advertised as waterproof and they leak through just with the mrning dew on the lawn... not what I would call waterproof...
Their substandard Chinese merchandise is a rip-off. You may as well buy your clothing from Walmart. They care naught for the longevity of our planet, American jobs, or their customers.
Never, ever a bad experience with this decades old company. They never leave me hanging, accept all returns and give full compensation even if it's not new anymore.
You can never go wrong with LL Bean. Their clothes are a little pricey but they lost forever. And I mostly love the fact that they sell classic Styles not trendy will outfits.

Answer: Fairly easy to get a CS rep via chat or phone but they aren't as conscientious as they once were and seem to use a lot of canned responses.
Answer: If you don't get results from one customer service representative, ask to speak to a supervisor. I emailed my question in and had a quick response and exceptional service. Had I not, I certainty would have gone up the chain of command.
