It's April 2012. Paid for a class in November 2011. Three locations listed. One very near me. One 43 miles away. One 51 miles away. Have been unable to register for the class near me and the merchant is no help and kind of rude. Two emails to LivingSocial and two terse "form" emails back. Decided to just drive to one of the further locations but can't even schedule that. Almost no classes available and literally none have been scheduled at the location near me for months. Will never use Living Social again. My money is just gone. BTW, have used Groupon many times without any problems.
Ugh... not a happy customer. One restaurant they contracted with went out of business! Wait time for help on their phones are over 12 minutes long! Just to frustrating... and now out all of that money. Old school must be the way to go. Just go to the business and purchase something if you want it with a real coupon. I hope I can save you some money by giving you this advice!
I have purchased hundreds of dollars in Coupons from Living Social. The Discounts work when you use them, but heaven forbid you are a frequent shopper and can't use one of the coupons out of dozens, you get stuck not getting full credit and they look at you as a bad customer. I had a death in the family and could not make use of a purchase that was made for a vacation I had to cancel. Living Social would only give half of the $78 that I spent. If you buy from them make sure nobody dies, gets sick, breaks a leg, cancels a vacation, loses their job etc. or you can kiss your money goodbye.
I've only used LivingSocial once... in four words "spectacularly poor customer service". I e-mailed to ask what I was supposed to do if the merchant was unable to offer a convenient date before the voucher expired and never received a reply. I phoned up two weeks later and waited an age to speak to anyone. The operator refused to apologise for LivingSocial's lack of communication, blamed me for not calling them sooner and told me that they would not do anything to help. If the voucher expired, it was my fault for not reading the terms and conditions. I e-mailed LivingSocial again and explained that if they had originally replied within 48 hours, as their automated e-mail suggested they would, I may have been able to arrange a suitable (albeit inconvenient) date with the merchant but now that I only had 10 days left before the voucher expired, there were no available slots left at all. This time I got a response which was outright rude. I was belittled and told once again that LivingSocial would not help in anyway. They also refused to acknowledge the fact that they hadn't replied to my first e-mail. All in all I've been hugely disappointed with their behaviour. I'm just annoyed that I didn't do any research on the company before creating my account. A simple Google search reveals almost unanimously poor feedback from merchants and customers alike. Avoid at all costs.
Ordered a carpet cleaning for £9. When I rung was told that they couldnt cope with the demand and that I should ask for a refund from living social. They have not refunded the money. It is only £9 so will take it on the chin - just glad it wasnt more money as there doesnt seem to be anything you can do to get a refund if something goes wrong with your coupon.
I buy from Groupon and other deal sites frequently. When I've experienced a problem with a purchase from Groupon, I've never had a problem. I get customer service quickly, they're pleasant, they always refund the cost back to my credit card, even if it's past the refund expiration date. As a result, I keep buying from them.
With Living Social, twice I've encountered problems with a deal and it takes forever to get someone on the phone -- and then the rep is puzzlingly obstructive. Even when, as today, the vendor tried to charge me a higher rate when he found out I was a LS customer. He upped the price of an item by $200 to eradicate what should have been my savings. I thought LS would be outraged by this behavior but instead their rep tried to justify the vendor's behavior. On top of that, I was on hold for 30 minutes and was disconnected 3 times before I finally got the issue handled. A total of 90 minutes on hold. The supervisor was equally obstinate and unhelpful.
There are so many other deal sites that actually offer customer service. Why would anyone deal with Living Social? With plans to go public soon, you'd think this company would be trying a little harder to please their customers. Or -- trying AT ALL would be nice.
The used deceptive wording in a voucher of theirs (hidden shipping fees for the product offered) then failed to correct the situation, deferring to their refund policy, which they of-course incorrectly apply. Stay away from Living Social.
Customer Service is non existent. If they ever reply to your e-mail they just tell you to contact the vendor - even when your problem is that the vendor doesn't answer their calls - I have been arguing with them for around 6 months now about a deal I couldn't use and they have been totally unhelpfull. Avoid at all costs.
Scam. I spent $140 for two vouchers for a cooking class, but when I tried to make reservations, there weren't any availabilities. I contacted customer service by email and got no response. Called and had to wait 30 mins to talk to someone. Then I was told they would get back to me the next day - they didn't. I finally got an email a couple days later letting me know my money wouldn't be refunded, and not addressing my question. Basically, somewhere in a huge paragraph of fine print, there is a little phrase that says "reservations subject to availability" and this means they don't have to deliver the service you paid for. What they never make clear is that what you are paying for is not a class or activity, but ELIGIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE IN A LOTTERY. To me, this is fraud. I will not be doing business with Living Social anymore, and you shouldn't either. They just trying to trick you.
Bought a hotel voucher. When redeeming purchased voucher, the hotel had an additional "fee", which made the deal 25% more expensive than if i booked through normal route (Kayak or Hotels.com).
Using Livingsocial takes 3-steps (wasting 10x more time as I had to call the hotel which was an ordeal of its own...) vs. booking direct, and Livingsocial costs more.
Bottom line: skip the Livingsocial scam.
Could not use the voucher because the venue had no availability. Living Social took nearly 2 weeks to reply to me, only to tell me they would not be refunding anything.
In future I will be using KGB Deals, much more professional and customer friendly.
Shame on you livingsocial.
Hopeless. Bought the coupon and then went to the merchant's website to order the goods. However, the coupon was not recognised. Contacted their customer service who were supposed to contact me within 48 hours but didn't..
Lack of customer service and clever misrepresentation results in being stuck with a certificate that you'll have a hard time using or being very disappointed in. Daily deals are great and I've found Groupon is a far superior company and Livingsocial is a rip-off wanna be. Buyer beware.
Ex: By hiding the "fine print" in tabs, the buyer is not easily aware of the many limitations of using the deal until you actually print it out and THEN it's very apparent. Take a look at their websites. Groupon is honest and clearly represents all and any limitations/restrictions. Livingsocial uses multiple tabs to hide these.
Ex: Many of the hotel deals are dumps, but Livingsocial always uses beautiful photo of the general location, of which the hotel does not have this view, much less being located any where near this gorgeous mountain vista or azure blue lake. They will have tempting titles like "Yosemite" in the headline, but if you go to Google maps, you'll find that the hotel is an HOUR away from Yosemite off of a highway surrounded by concrete, not trees.
Ex: Livingsocial does NOT invite prospective buyers to ask questions before buying. Groupon readily has an "Ask a Question" option as well as a clearly presented link to the vendor's website. Livingsocial does not provide a link to the vendor's website so that you can thoroughly investigate just what you will be getting. They want to fool and trap you into buying... too much information will obviously turn you off to the dogs they are trying to sell you.
Ex: when you contact Livingsocial, you will only get an form response that basically says the only time they provide refunds is if the business goes out of business. I buy several Groupons a month and once in while find that I can't use one for whatever reason. Groupon happily and quickly refunds my money. THAT'S customer service and THAT'S why I continue to use Groupon and not these lesser companies like Livingsocial.
I have been a merchant for Livingsocial.
Which means i put a deal out on their website. This has got to be the biggest mistake of my life. My business has nearly gone bust thanks to them. I get fake phone calls from their customer service team (the ring my phone and hang up for no reason at all) my offer was valid for 6 month and the expiry date has been and gone i am still redeeming clients for another 4 month after expiry date apparently this is not acceptable to them and i need to refund everyone! Total joke they are. I would stay well clear from them. Plus the money i walked away with gave me an average wage of £3.00 per hour! So far it has took up 200 hours of my time and they expect me to repay that! I hate them with a very big passion they have made my life a misery.
The customer service with this company is absolutely awful.
I bought a voucher for a chartering service that ended up receiving bad reviews. I called the customer service line and had to wait for 23 minutes to have my call received. The first operator was incredibly rude and her supervisor was a poor excuse for one, having no ability or motivation to make a difference.
I told them the situation and asked not for a refund but for an exchange towards another voucher. The operator suggested i still use the voucher and make my own opinion on the company. Wow!
I will never buy anything from this company again when there are other sites like couptessa and groupon who are much better at what they do.
Purchased a voucher for a Food & Wine Tour in Orlando... tried to schedule for almost a month and no one would answer the phone and the scheduling online did not work. Sent an email... no response... called Living Social, found out I am not the only one that is complaining but yet was told they would only give me deal bucks and not refund my money. I was actually told by the customer service rep(if thats what you want to call them) that it was my responsibility to reserach whether the deal was legit or not. Hmm... what does that tell you about Living Social! So even though I paid them and did not get what I paid them for... they are keeping my money... if I wanted deal bucks... I would have bought them. STAY AWAY FROM LIVING SOCIAL!
I was having trouble connecting the w/deal I had purchased and contacted them many times about what to do or to get a refund. I have NEVER heard back from them about the situation, ever. They just completely ignore inquiries. I guess once they get the payment they could care less what happens.
Bought a 1-nite stay at a really nice bed and breakfast in Logan, Ut. Received the notice that they had received my purchase and would send me the voucher number, etc. in a subsequent email. Never received the email. Never received a response to my email queries about the voucher. Finally called them a month later, and waited 10 minutes for someone to respond. They pointed me at the livingsocial.com site - I logged on and voila! Found my voucher quite easily. The site itself works quite well, and I had printed off the voucher in no time. So - yes, their fulfillment practice is seriously flawed, but they did carry through. A so-so rating for LivingSocial, but I'm happy ($*#@! Finally).
It sucks it took money out of my account but when I called the service center since i never got what a i ordered they said the payment never went through and can not do anything! Never use them they suck and have horrible customer service!
They sold me a certificate for a class that is normally $200. The offer was $99. The promotional valie of the cedrtificate stated that the value is good through March 19,2012. I called on March 6 to schedule the class and am told that the classes are all sold out. They refused to honor the certificate for another class and also refused a refund. The only offer was that I could pay another $101 to take the $200 class.
Answer: I wouldn't recommend these people to anyone. A total nightmare. They take your money don't send the goods and they don't answer e mails
Answer: There do seem to have been some financial problems with many of the deals from Living Social. But when I had a problem they answered the phone and it was dealt with quickly and the goods resent.
Answer: Have you contacted the customer service at Livingsocial.com? I have found them to be pretty responsive in the past. This is a seperate review site.
LivingSocial is a leading "daily deal" site that sells discounted experiences and local services--restaurants, spa trips, home services, travel, etc.--via voucher. The consumer must pay for the voucher upfront, and the voucher generally must be used within a specified time period or it cannot be redeemed. To make these deals possible, LivingSocial sells merchants on its ability to help "find and keep more customers". LivingSocial is a private company based in Washington DC and its shareholders include Amazon.com.
