Hi-Living Social claims to be a purveyor of high quality deals, facilitated to make one's life easier. I purchased the Living Social Takeout deal, and chose to apply it to Ulah Bistro. After viewing Living Social's Ulah Bistro menu and placing my order, Living Social's confirmation email told me I was ordering a Bistro Burger, and a Carnivale pizza. I was specifically told to pick up the food at 9:00 p.m. Arriving precisely on time, Ulah reported that they had not even put in my order yet. They asked me to wait at the bar, and stated a 15 minute wait time. Ten minutes later, a manager approached me and questioned my order of a Carnivale pizza, stating that the item did not even exist on their menu, and proffered the menu as evidence. I felt very foolish, and had to recite the stated ingredients for the Carnivale pizza from memory. When my order finally appeared, thirty minutes after the promised time, Ulah had no record of the Living Social $10 discount, and charged me $30.86, when Living Social told me I should be paying $15.35. I felt very embarrassed, and noted that I believed a $10 discount should have come through the Living Social order. They graciously gave me the $10 discount, and I walked away spending $20.85, before tip, over $5 than what Living Social had quoted. When I returned home, I discovered $15.35 missing from my checking account, meaning that Living Social already took the full amount, and did not pass the information on to Ulah. So now I have paid $37.20 for a $25 meal. I have had my time, money, and confidence wasted this evening, and I would greatly appreciate to hear an explanation for this course of events.

A few things I learned from reading your reviews.

1. Always check the reviews of the company that I am buying the deal for
2. Check LS's fine print
3. Check the expiration date of the deal
4. Don't count on LS to give me my money back if the deal expires.

I tried to add a second deal and their site crashed. When I called to try to talk to somebody regarding the deal (that was expiring in 6 hours), I was on HOLD for nearly an hour!

I finally emailed them about it and "Lauren" wrote me back a couple of days later and told me that it was iPhone's fault that I wasn't able to complete my transaction and I probably wasn't logged in <--- LIES!

In conclusion, "Lauren" told me that there was nothing she could do because the deal was over.

I responded to her and asked for my money back for my LivingSocial Plus subscription. I refuse to use any of their premium services with poor customer service like this. I'm actually PAYING you guys $20 for an upgrade and you can even properly find out what happened with my initial deal.

She then told me if I chose to cancel, I wouldn't be able to sign up again... Yeah, whatever!

Customer Service goes a LONG way, LivingSocial... you might not have so many negative reviews if you actually listened and attempted to make things right!

Just spoke to an Alana in Customer Service. The rudest person I have ever met. I will never buy another thing from them. A merchant could not honor a voucher and she would not credit me for the item. Are you kidding! Ripping off consumers is not a good idea.

Living Social apparently changed their refund policy to only issue refunds up to 5 days after a deal purchase. That pretty much ends my relationship with them

I bought a restaurant voucher through LS which the restaurant refused to honour. LS advised us that they did not refund money but would credit the full amount for future use and emailed us to the fact they would not use our credit card details and instead deduct the amount from my credit with them (Deal Bucks)... you've guessed it, when I bought a further restaurant deal they debited my credit card. I have now emailed them 3 times and they do not reply either by email or phone so where do I go from here? I have had good relationships with similar types of social media sites but this company is ignorant, dishonest and not to be trusted. "BUYER BEWARE" do not deal with Livingsocial... any idea's where I can go from here... please advise. Bob Barton. Australia

Was supposed to run an ad, Quit my job only to find out they can take up to a year or two before they run your ad. Which I was never told and still have not been told. I gave the sales rep several leads thinking hey treat others the way you want to be treated. So they ran the leads before they ran my ad?
Two months later wondering what is going on, seeing that the sales reps wife got a job at a place and it only took a week or two before there ad ran, I thought I would inquire as to what was going on? I was told, well your in line to run next but realize that there is a fairly healthy queue, To me this sounds like oh well if a bigger and better company comes along or has deep pockets they get to run first. I asked the sales rep about this and got no response. THe sales rep ignores you if you are not bringing him money or business. So I went to check the site to see if anyone was running this was thursday and there you go there is an ad in the same line of business running. SO I thought ok, I should be next. Someone I know checked the site this morning to find out that there is a different ad in the same line of business running. WTF? This company doesn't care about small business. I rank them as an equivalent of oil companies or worse.

Do not order this voucher through living social for Forever canvas, Sheffield, manchester!
Customer service is non existent! They claim on website delivery within 7-10 days online / phone orders or 4 weeks for discount voucher orders. I ordered with a living Social voucher 14 weeks ago, still no canvas!
After chasing several times for an update on my order recieved a very blunt response to the effect of if i'd have paid full price for this item I would recieved a higher level of service from them!

If I could give zero stars I would.

LivingSocial is the WORST among the lot of group consumer coupon companies.
DO NOT buy from them. They incite consumers to buy from them for deals that are unredeemable, then they will steal your money and refuse to refund it even if their Terms of Service and your state laws require them to issue a refund. What's worse is their customer service. They will ignore your emails and simply not answer the phone when you call or place you on hold for extended amounts of time.

If there's something you really want to buy, just call the business directly and ask them to match the offer for you. If they refuse to do it, then that tells you what kind of businesses LivingSocial works with, so why give them your hard-earned money anyway?

I have been using Groupon and Living Social for a few years, not until this year, when I could not finalize a "deal" with Living Social did I find out their "fine print" details. Purchased a getaway to Monterey area - paid $99 for it on Living Social, then tried calling the phone number on the voucher - never an answer! I contacted the Customer Service department and they said "read the rules" no refunds will be made. I stated this purchase had no value as I could not obtain services from their merchant. They said Too Bad. Will never buy another thing from LivingSocial and would caution others to be wary, as they have very poorany customer service!

At total scam site
April 29, 2012

At total scam site. Have lost over 500 dollars so far on but that I cannot redeem since I cannot get reservations. And when I contact living social and the merchant I get the same old run around that read the rules and regulations. They sell way to many coupons that the merchant can handle so there is no way to redeem and the customer service is not available to handle your issue. Someone should prosecute these guys since they are ripping us off. They say they will get back to you in 24 or 48 hours when you buy things and never do. Hard earned money down the drain. They should be ashamed of themselves

Same sad story as others. Wish I had seen this site before my first, and last, purchase from them. Bought a night for a hotel stay. You guessed it, their rooms were always sold out on the weekends when I can use the stay. But unlike some earlier reviewers, I was told I can't get a refund. I can stay at the hotel for full price, using my living social voucher to pay for half of that. But, that means my choice is being out $125 for nothing, or being out $250 for staying at a hotel that I am now disgusted with. So what really happened here is that I paid $125 for a CHANCE for a hotel stay. My next message is to my senator. This cannot be legal. And if it is, it needs to become illegal. Shame on living social. Consumers will eventually.

I purchased a facial several months ago on LS for Salon near me. It does not expire for a month. I tried to make an appointment but was told that they are fully booked for two months, and could not honor the coupon. I contacted Living Social by phone and email and they refused to refund my money; and that the Salon is supposed to honor at least the purchase price of $35 since they could not honor the deal. The Salon says that Living Social received the money, and I should deal with them. No one is taking the responsibility: my coupon is not expired, and if the deal cannot be honored by the business, I should get my money back.

Living Social customer service was an F-. What a bunch of a**holes. I booked a housecleaning services with them that (thank god) was so overbooked the put my appointment 4 months out--I then had time to read the reviews and all the reviews of the service that had used LS vouchers were AWFUL! I tried to get a REFUND from LS but they would not have it! I tried to explain this was a service that allowed people to come into my home, not a restaurant or clothing shop. They were the rudest people I have spoken with in ages.
I had to settle for a $55 credit with LS and now all the good LS deals go through amazon and I am left with CRAP to choose from including deals that are 50 miles away from New Orleans, really they can't get deals in NOLA anymore because the merchants know they suck too... I will never use Living Social again after I use this credit which at this rate could be years.

Bought a voucher for "Unlimited World Calling" on Skype. Discovered that I cannot use the subscription to call Brazil, which last time I checked is part of the world, and no one (neither Living Social, nor Skype) would refund or credit my money towards another product. What a rip-off, I will never trust Living Social (or Skype) again.

The true measure of a company is how they handle problems. Social Living oversold a deal to stay in a hotel. When I went to make the reservation the hotel said they told Living Social to only sell a certain amount and that amount of rooms had already been used, so Living Social should refund all over sold rooms. I brought this to Living Socials attention. They told me that they would not refund because I waited to make my reservations. I let them know that the expiration is not for more than a month away and the hotel has plenty of rooms but not honoring any more Social Living Coupons. After quite a bit of back and forth, they say I will get a refund and that next time I only have 30 days to return any coupon purchased. They may want to put in the fine print must make your reservations in the next 30 days regardless of the expiration date of the coupon. I am sure they oversell deals all the time. This seems very un ethical to me.

From the business

LivingSocial is a leading "daily deal" site that sells discounted experiences and local services--restaurants, spa trips, home services, travel, etc.--via voucher. The consumer must pay for the voucher upfront, and the voucher generally must be used within a specified time period or it cannot be redeemed. To make these deals possible, LivingSocial sells merchants on its ability to help "find and keep more customers". LivingSocial is a private company based in Washington DC and its shareholders include Amazon.com.
