The so called "Jet To Miami" jet ski rental place in Key Biscayne is a major scam. They provided me with the wrong address and once I made my jet ski purchase, they stopped calling me and started texting me, this is when I knew something wasn't right. The day I was supposed to ride the ski, I received a text from a number that I never recorded asking me if I am still coming. The jet ski rental place they had me waiting at was an entirely different company and that company has never even heard of Jet to Miami. I would not do business with them because they are ripping people off with their "pretend" jet ski rental. I should have known there is something shady about this deal. Luckily by booking through Living Social, I am provided a full refund for the jet ski that I never rode.
I unfortunately have eaten $100's of dollars on deals I bought on here. The vendors they represent never answer the phone, nor do they have time to redeem your deal in a timely fashion. When I contacted livingsocial for a refund on my expired deals (due to the inability of the vendor to honor). They informed me no refund would be issued because my deals were expired. They stated the value would be good for up to 5 years at the vendor. Who wants to do deal with vendors that don't work with you on your schedule... STAY AWAY FROM DOING BUSINESS WITH LIVINGSOCIAL... once they have your money. They are not giving it back for no reason what so ever!
Useless... shower of $#*!s... tried ringing all day no reply then conveniently when time runs out to fix my problem they answer the phone and tell me time has run out, all because of the zip code box was filled out incorrectly... never again will i have dealings with them... ignorant people on the phone as well... telling me it's not their fault... they never replied to any of my emails regarding my problem. Which could have easily been fixed days ago if they had... BASTARDS!
BUYER BEWARE! They have poor customer service when there's a problem. My voucher didn't work & they told me to just keep calling retailer [retailer never responded] & they refused to credit my acct. This comapny fine print re adding tax was against Canadian tax law & LS doesn't care about retail cheating [ie collecting tax for themselves]-they also wouldn't refund when informed.
My only problem with this site is how much money I spend on stuff I normally wouldn't spend money on. And, I had one issue with a vendor who dropped off the face of the planet for over a month -- had a fight with Living Social to get a credit against that voucher, but I got it in the end.
I have purchased from LivingSocial many times over the past year or so... however long they've been around. Some of the things I've bought are Carvel gift cards, several restaurant discounts (too many!), a lavender field visit in VA, and most recently, a day at the AT&T National golf tournament.
Unfortunately, my husband was unable to attend the tournament due to a terrible storm that hit our area the night before the day of his ticket. He was allowed to use the ticket for the following day, but he was unable to make it. I emailed LivingSocial customer service and requested a refund. Within a few days, I received an email offering LS credit or a refund. I took the refund and today, I received confirmation of my refund. It took a total of five days? Not bad, if you ask me.
I feel bad that so many people have had rotten experiences with this site. I've never tried Groupon or any of the other deal sites, other than flash sites like Rue La La and Gilt, which offer a few similar deals. But I'm extremely happy with the service and deals I've received from LivingSocial.
Poor customer service, I bought the item and payed for it, the payment is gone out of my account and the day after they refunded my money and say item is out of stock!
AVOID IT!
My sister and I bought coupons for paddle boarding and were so excited to use them. We were disappointed that the vendor Sunrise Paddleboards had a kind of slimey practice of slapping on undisclosed charges to put the paddle boards in the water. It wasn't mentioned anywhere in the fine print and definitely wasn't discussed when we talked with Diane on the phone. So we wrote to Living Social to tell them how icky it felt. I said that if it was the paddle board company's unethical practice, please be informed that it left a bad taste in our mouths. I said that if it was encouraged by Living Social for vendors to to add on undisclosed fees then please remove my name from their mailing list... guess what Living Social did... they sent me an email saying that I was removed from their mailing list! No other response. What a riot! So they endorse vendors bait and switching customers! Did they even read my email? So Funny! That's my first and last Living Social experience.
First, let me say, I am shocked at the negative reviews on here. It's a shame that so many of you had such bad experiences with LS.
My experience has been great! I have purchased so many deals over the past year and have used 95% of them with great results. I always get my voucher e-mailed to me pretty quickly. The only issue I ever had was with a restaurant (Casablanca in Delaware) that would not honor the voucher that I GIFTED to my parents. I called ahead of time & made reservations and asked specifically if it's okay to have my parents at one table (my GIFT to them) and my hubby & kids & I at another table. We lived 30 minutes away, so we all wanted to go together. I was told "as long as you're at separate tables", it would be no problem. Well, they REFUSED to seat us separately, made us all sit together & would only honor one of my deals. I called LS the next day & they refunded my other voucher amount immediately & apologized for the bad experience.
Every time I've called customer service, whether to have a voucher re-sent or sent to a different e-mail address for a gift or whatever, they've answered in a reasonable amount of time and were extremely friendly! I had a great convo with a polite gent who was from England, who recommended a dee-lish restaurant in Rehoboth, Delaware for some authentic 'fish and chips', as I told him I was headed there that weekend! They were quite good, btw.
Anyways, my experiences have been wonderful and I've been exposed to businesses that I never would have heard about, let alone visited. And I HAVE become a repeat customer to some of them because of my LS deals.
For small business owners, another person made a great point. Do your math, be courteous to your LS customers, and many of us will GLADLY frequent your business. I have no desire to get something for nothing and I make it a point to tip very generously when using my LS vouchers. Depending on how accommodating, friendly and clean the business is, I will definitely return to give you my business!
Good luck to everyone, businesses & customers alike!
After purchasing my Living Social deal I read reviews online and MANY complained that after buying a deal they found fraudulent charges on their bank statement, and wouldn't you know a week after buying my deal I found a $50 charge on my statement from a gaming website. It seems this is a major problem at Living Social and because there have been SO many complaints and it just happened to me, I wonder if Living Social is taking any action to protect their customers. How do you expect to have any return customers?
Not only that but I had 3 friends buy my deal and because one was a couple that bought 2 deals on the same credit card Living Social DID NOT WANT TO GIVE ME MY DEAL FREE. After many emails back and forth they finally did agree.
I will NOT be buying any future "deals" from Living Social.
I have booked 2 tickets for a trip and the condition was I can travel only on weekday ie. Monday to Friday but when i called for booking on a public weekday holiday the compnay and the living social are not ready to give me appointment neither refund. I never ever go back to this website for any purchase.
THIS SITE IS A JOKE! DON'T BUY ANYTHING!
I bought something from this site and wanted a refund after it was clear the deal they had sold me was undeliverable from the salon because of the numbers they had sold. Four 13 minute phone calls later where I was waiting for an answer the whole time but got cut off EVERY TIME - 6 emails to their 'help line' later and I get an email ONE MONTH LATER saying they couldnt help as the refund date was past! Joke its not about the refund date it is the fact they have sold me something that can't be delivered!
THEY ARE CR@P DONT GO ON THIS WEBSITE
If you want to go to a deal website with GREAT customer service go to groupon!
I did a 5k Mud run in Acton, CA. The Livingsocial staff was fabulous. But I have a problem. Livingsocial lied to us. They put that the value of the mud run was $120 and sold it to us for $60. It's easy to prove that the most expensive and the very best 5k mud runs cost around $60. No mud run costs $120. This was my first so I didn't know that. I talked to other people at the event that do mud runs all the time and they said that this mud run should have cost no more the $30 because it was at the very bottom of what a mud run should be. We all had fun and I’m glad I did it, but Livingsocial shouldn't be over charging for their adventures and lying about savings that don't exist. Plus it turned out the 5k mud run today was only 2.5 miles, not the full 3.1 miles it should be to be a 5k. And there was no mud; there was only a little dirty water at times. The picture they used to sell this showed people covered in mud; which is what usually happens at a real mud run. The event today was not what they advertised; there was no savings, and they actually charged more than they should have for this event. At this point, I'm not sure if I'll ever do another adventure with them since they lied and misrepresented so much about this one.
If I could give them ZERO stars, I would. They SUCK! Terrible customer service. No rules about being able to cancel a reschedule event tickets - 'though they indicate that you can easily do this - yet when you try to cancel and reschedule, they don't allow you. Lost $30 bucks. Will NEVER EVER use livingsocial again and seeing as how my office is just down the block, may even drop a flaming bag of dog poo on their doorstep.
Hate hate hate this site! I purchased a salon voucher and I can no longer use it because the salon is always booked with no appointments available until after the deal expires. I called customer service for a refund but "the salon being too busy is not their problem" BULL! Groupon all the way!
I just want to warn people about buying deals through Living Social - they will rip you off! They sell deals and then you actually try and book the deal with the supplier and no one answers the phone or replies to emails. When you ask for a refund Living Social say their policy is only to supply refunds if the company go out of business - so if you do not get your deal then tough luck. I would use Groupon or one of the other online daily deals company as they have much better service and actually supply what they are selling.
In October 2011, I purchased two vouchers for a candy making class at chocolee chocolates in Boston. I tried to schedule the class on two occasions, only to be met with extremely long lead times. Today, I was told classes are booked through mid december. The voucher expires in October and I was told chocolee would extend it through december. This is unacceptable. This vendor is clearly overselling classes way beyond their capacity. A six month lead time for a candy class is ridiculous. What's even more outrageous is that a new offer of the same class was posted today for this vendor! They are already booked through december on the last offer and yet she is selling more? This vendor failed to meet the terms of this contract in a timely manner and will not be able to do so before the voucher ends. As a customer, I do not wish to continue waiting and I do not want an extension. I want a refund as I do not wish to do business with companies that engage in such poor business practices. I requested a refund through the livingsocial website and was told I could only get a "credit" for use on another deal. This is the second time I've had a bad experience with living social and I don't want to be held hostage to do further business with them. I want my money back; not a site credit.
Two weeks ago (9/06/12) I ordered a DC jumper off the living social website.
It finally arrived today (19/06/12) as soon as i got home i opened the parcel containing my new jumper only to find an imitation jumper instead. I ordered a DC jumper not a replica DC jumper. So I phoned customer service and after waiting on hold for 20 minutes I finally got through. The girl on the other line seemed polite but sounded doubtful of my claim. I told her what I felt the evidence was supporting my theory of the jumper being fake with was. Poor Material, Poor brand logo printing, no brand tags embedded in the fabric, made in Pakistan (i have another dc jumper which is made in china), a foreign company logo on the jumper as well. Her response to that was all she could assure me would be that the matter would be investigated and I would hear back from them, but not for 5-7 working days. This really infuriated me. I payed good money for a jumper and got a piece of $HI+ imitation jumper instead and now I'm not even guaranteed a refund. I now hate this site and urge anyone to stay away from it by all means.
I ordered the spotless carpet cleaning service.
They took my money and I couldn't use the voucher because they claimed it was already used which was not true.
I have written several complaints, requested a voucher or refund and they haven't even replied.
Answer: I wouldn't recommend these people to anyone. A total nightmare. They take your money don't send the goods and they don't answer e mails
Answer: There do seem to have been some financial problems with many of the deals from Living Social. But when I had a problem they answered the phone and it was dealt with quickly and the goods resent.
Answer: Have you contacted the customer service at Livingsocial.com? I have found them to be pretty responsive in the past. This is a seperate review site.
LivingSocial is a leading "daily deal" site that sells discounted experiences and local services--restaurants, spa trips, home services, travel, etc.--via voucher. The consumer must pay for the voucher upfront, and the voucher generally must be used within a specified time period or it cannot be redeemed. To make these deals possible, LivingSocial sells merchants on its ability to help "find and keep more customers". LivingSocial is a private company based in Washington DC and its shareholders include Amazon.com.
