Don't use this service. My experience was that the merchant would not honor the voucher and then I just lost my money. Trying to get it back and have been on hold now for almost 45 minutes. Is this really even a company?

I purchased a $29
August 7, 2012

I purchased a $29. Mani/pedi at a place called Synergy in Bridgeville, Pa. Tried at least three times over several months to book it only to be told they were too busy. I asked Living Social for a refund since the vendor would never book the service, they refused. Just a bunch of thieves! Beware and don't buy from them. I have never had problems with Groupon.

Beware of LivingSocial! They do not refund your coupon after one week under any complain! That's why scammers like them so much. What happened: the scam-business are closing for couple of months and put the offer on LivingSocial, when you buy it and call them it turns out they are closed until almost end of expiration date, in my case it was 4 days, and I was unable to use the coupon for this rest 4 days, so I have to pay FULL PRICE. I complained to LivingSocial support but they said 'it's out of our return policy' same like they do not care about terms and conditions provided with offers. I never had troubles refunding Google Offers coupons even after expiration date

I'm warning all of you - DO NOT do business with Living Social!

I filed a complaint with the BBB on July 27,2012, and still no response from LS unless you count the fake $#*! apology in response to the emails I sent their customer service and posts I left on their wall also on July 27. Of course, an apology doesn't get me my money back for the service I never received, and they refuse to reimburse me.

Every day they don't respond to my concerns and the many other customers who are unfairly experiencing the same treatment, I post a warning on their FB wall to potential and current consumers. Every day I look at their wall, there are more and more complaints about people getting ripped off and Living Social not doing a darn thing about it. I post on every one of the unhappy customers' wall pleas to Living Social encouraging those customers to also file a complaint with the BBB. As of now, the BBB has recorded more than 503 complaints since the BBB granted Living Social accreditation three years ago - more than 400 of which were filed this year alone and about 20 of which have been filed since I started my "campaign" on July 27,2012.

It is disgusting a business can consistently advertise vendors who scam people out of their hard earned money and think they are absolved of any and all responsibility. Living Social makes a 50 percent profit off of each deal they help the vendor sell, so they are at least 50 percent responsible for ensuring customers are treated appropriately and provided with the best possible service. Yet, their Website says they will only reimburse within the first seven days a deal is purchased if the customer "changes" their mind. Furthermore, the vendor doesn't get paid for the deals bought until the Living Social coupon is marked "redeemed" or at least six months after the deal has been purchased for those deals with less stringent requirements. So in many cases, Living Social has the money to refund but refuses to unless it falls within the seven day window for people with a case of buyer's remorse.

Enough of these large corporations taking advantage of consumers and not being held responsible. It ends here and now!

I think Living Social should watch the deals they put on their site. Too many bad apples
U-Centre Massage Calgary SW... If I could rate this place it would be a -10, I would black mark it! I went today (bought those rip off vouches-real cheap) go figure you get what you pay for. You walk into this hole in the wall cluttered office... felt like a PI office. I went for a foot bath and massage. 1st off she tells me the voucher was wrong on LivingSocial, it only covers relaxation massage, not deep tissue... etc. Then I wait for her to prepare my "foot bath" and she comes in my room with a grey garbage container lined with a black garbage bag and water in it. I turned that down, told her to forget it.
My massage was in a separate dingy room no ambiance or relaxing atmosphere, felt like I was in an alley. The face holders had a paper towel with a 3/4 rip in it for you to plant your face, the towel she covered me with was dingy grey, musty and damp and had a huge rip in it. Discusting place, I have 2 other vouchers that I can't get a refund for, wouldn't dare give to my worst enemy, chalk it up to a loss.

Total scam
August 3, 2012

Total scam. Was ripped off by the 1st deal from the vendor (vendor wanted proof of purchase/credit card and kept charging on the card). Now, 2 years later, bought tickets to Cirque de Soleil. They sent me tickets a day before the event in the LAST row in a corner section and they were CLASS 1 tickets! Tried to get in touch with them, but no phone contact. When I sent an email, I received a response that they can't do anything because I had purchase this deal 3 weeks before! I explained that I just received the tickets and the seats were crummy, but to no avail. Stay away.

I've read other reviews, and didn't expect to see a low rating, but so far this website has been good to me. I buy the voucher, go to the restaurant (or business), give them my voucher number, and boom... DISCOUNT. Haven't tried receiving refunds on anything yet, but hopefully they're fair.

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD.- I purchased vouchers for skreened.com and could not use them because I could not check out on the website. So, I called Living Social for help, and they refused. They would not give me my money back or offer to assist me with my vouchers. The worse $60 I ever spent in my life. RUN AWAY!

I purchased a 24 Hour Car Luxury Car Rental for my son's 7th Birthday(its what he wanted). I made the reservation with the place 2 months before I needed it to make sure I would have it available. 3 Days before I decided to call the location to confirm my reservation, at which point they had said, not only would I not get the vehicle I reserved, I couldnt get the ANY car on the days I reserved it.

I called livingsocial to request a refund, and they gave their "7 days no refund policy"... I had every intention of using the product, The merchant they represent didnt honor the product. I tried via email, only to get the standard excuse letter. I requested a manager contact me. Have not received any return correspondence to that. I tried calling during business hours, and get we are busy, call back during business hours recording... No wonder why they are so busy, with quality management like that...

Bought a $49 coupon for Aall Bright Window Cleaning (20 windows). When they arrived, I only had two smallish windows to clean and two sets of sliding doors. The guy wanted me to sign a contract to pay him an extra $20 for travel. When I expressed surprise and said that would make it a lot for a couple of windows, he declared that he didnt need the hassle and they were just leaving and would not do the windows. I didn; t refuse to pay the extra and would have but he didn; t give me the chance. He lost it because I was taken by surprise and expressed it. Of course, after trying to get Living Social on the phone for over an hour, when I finally got them, they took his side and said the coupon had been cashed in and no refund for me. That is most certainly the last time I'll use them. I'll stick with Groupon who seem to value their customers a lot more and offer pretty decent customer service, unlike Living Social. As for Aall Bright Windows, the guy needs some serioous chill pills. I believe he has a bad case of small man disease.

I will never make a purchase with livingsocial again... ever. I purchased 3 tickets to a Cirque show and encouraged my boss to do so also. The vouchers came and right on the voucher it says that the voucher is not the ticket and the Cirque would be emailing tickets you can just print and use at the show within 5 days of purchase. Well 5, 6, 7 days pass and nothing. I email livingsocial and they tell me to call Cirque. No problem taking my money and running but told me it was Cirques responsibility. I call Cirque, they tell me they will issue tickets to my email 24-48 hours before the show. Less than 24 hours before the show and you guessed it... NOTING. I call Cirque, they tell me its livingsocials responsibility to issue the ticket as I bought it from them. I try to call livingsocial and you CAN NOT talk to a person. So I emailed again. Explained the whole thing. They responded how sorry they were and told me to call Cirque again. AGHHHHH. Unbelievable these people (livingsocial) are in business. NEVER AGAIN.

My wife and I have been using living social for some time with good results. Now I will never use them again and caution anyone thinking of buying a getaway. We purchased a getaway and have been trying to use it and the resort is all but unresponsive. I have gotten so fed up at this point I just wanted my money back, and living socials attitude was to bad we wont help. DO Not Use them unless you like throwing money away, so far we have tot he tune of $531.00, I have also filed a complaint with the better business bureau.

I'm extremely UNHAPPY with LivingSocial. I bought a voucher for an eye exam for my mom and she had to leave the country before she could redeem it due to a family death. She had her eyes examined while she was out of the country which left me stuck with a voucher I can't use because I don't need eyeglasses (20/20). I tried to offer it to family/friends but either they do not want it, or need it, or are willing to drive to the location where the offer is. I contacted LivingSocial 4 times trying to find someone who is willing to help my situation and no one will issue me credit. It's incredibly upsetting that they aren't willing to offer customer service on a case by case scenario and basically tell you, "Tough luck, we have a 7 day policy and you are out $49 if you don't use it." They refuse to issue credit for a voucher that I cannot redeem due to a person having to leave the country for a funeral, and I cannot find anyone to buy the deal from me. BUYER BEWARE they don't make exceptions even for unfortunate cases. Seems like they DON'T VALUE long time customers (I've bought at least 10 vouchers in the past year).

I have used Living Social before for meals, so I decided to try one of their "escape kits." Bad decision! After I bought the voucher, I tried to call the hotel a couple of times to be sure I got the reservation I wanted. Can't get through. Finally, on the 3rd try, I got thru but was told by the hotel guy that I had to book on line, even though voucher says you can call for reservation. So I sent the email as the guy instructed, and it bounces back. Now I call back and I am pretty steamed. The guy takes my info over the phone but then tells me I have to wait 24-48 hours before they'll even tell me whether I have the reservation. In other words, this is just a "request." They can let me know in 24-48 hours that the dates I requested are not available and then we start the process all over again. BS! So I call Living Social and guess what? - the recording says they are experiencing high call volume (probably a lot of other pissed off people trying to redeem their vouchers) and to call back later - and then the phone just disconnects me. Not even the option of waiting on hold. What a SCAM! Stay away from Living Social! And Privilege Hotels, for that matter. BTW, I have used Groupon with no such problems - and they always answer the phone!

Worst website ever, even groupon is better. That is how bad they are.
They promote scams like the £49 flying lesson with barefoot and when proven it is a scam they refuse to refund.
Shame on them!

Firstly BEWARE of the american date format on the App. This shows as 5/8/2012 which you would presume is 5th August 2012 however it isn't! It's in Amercian format which actually means 8th May 2012! Therefore you may think you have plenty of time left and you haven't. I've bought a few deals from living social now. Which I find is generally good value if you actually get to do it. However if for any reason you want to complain or ask for your money back (after the 7 days cool off period) then you've got no chance. The customer service from the "contact us" feedback form is rubbish. They advise they will get back to you "soon" but its generally at least 10 days. Then is just the standard "no refund, contact the merchant to resolve". My friend bought two vouchers for "luxury pedi/mani plus champagne" for £25 each. We booked it and the merchant cancelled 2 days before. After contacting living for a refund (as this place was an hour's drive away and had originally been booked for a 40th weekend treat) they refused and advised us to contact the merchant. The merchant was horrendous at getting back to us, no response for 3/4 weeks and no reply to messages left on number provided. Eventually after months and weeks of trying we were booked in again. Only to be then told that it was cancelled again 10 days before. We have since been told by the merchant that Living social were a nightmare to deal with and sold to many vouchers and were asked to refund clients as the merchant could not complete all the vouchers sold. The vouchers is now out of date so we have lost out £50 thru no fault of our own. Extremely bad customer service. Unlike both Groupon and KGB who get back to you within 24 hours and usually refund immediately or contact the merchant for you for a full explanation.

Bought a deal for an aesthetics treatment, turned out the vendor went out of business (strike one). Living Social would not refund the money (strike two), and said it would instead issue "deal bucks". That was 2 months ago and I have not seen any deal bucks in my account (strike three). I'd say they're OUT and you should stay away.

I purchased a trip to puerto Rico because it showed great photos and reviews and when I researched it myself on trip advisor it looked run down with moldy pics and when I called living social to explain that it looked nothing like they stated on their site and wanted to cancel they said there was nothing they could do. I even asked to use it as a credit and they said no. The trip is booked for August 16th 2012 which is far in advance but still I get a no, I will not be using this site again unless they can resolve this issue.

From the business

LivingSocial is a leading "daily deal" site that sells discounted experiences and local services--restaurants, spa trips, home services, travel, etc.--via voucher. The consumer must pay for the voucher upfront, and the voucher generally must be used within a specified time period or it cannot be redeemed. To make these deals possible, LivingSocial sells merchants on its ability to help "find and keep more customers". LivingSocial is a private company based in Washington DC and its shareholders include Amazon.com.
