Used LiveCareer off and on for the last 5 years. Never had problems getting charged beyond what I signed up for. (I just made sure to call and cancel a couple of days before the month was up.)
Main problem - the "experience" section of the resume would often, inexplicably, rearrange the order of my work experience, making it almost impossible to list my job history in chronological order. So beware of this flaw.
With the assistance of this easy to use website, I produced a resume and cover letters that helped me obtain the position I interviewed for! Customer service has been very helpful and quickly responded to my inquiries. Highly recommend.
Hi Daneille C.,
Congratulations on your new job! We’re glad that you found the site and customer service helpful. We wish you all the best!

So I thought I signed up for a free month. Turns out after that they were charging me monthly at a rate of $9.95 per week! Their unlimited monthly subscription is only $3 a month! Plus I never received a receipt for these payments so I had no idea. I must have spent hundreds of dollars with LiveCareer until I noticed. I'll be warning everyone to stay away from them.
Greetings Sophie. We are sorry that you had this experience while using our service. We are very committed in providing great customer service. We will send you a private message so we can provide you with further assistance on the concerns that you may have regarding your account. Looking forward to helping you on the concerns that are present on your account.
Best regards,
LiveCareer.
Since signing up for the account, I found the need for only one aspect of the site, resume builder. After availing myself of that service, there is no other offering I find necessary, so did end up cancelling the account. They were more than accommodating, issued refunds for several months and pointed out a couple services available for free if desired.
Hi Shannon, thank you for taking the time to review our services. These type of feedback makes us change the way we do things for you. If you need anything else, just contact us, we’re here for you. Thanks!
Writing resumes and cover letters was a easy. Multiple formats for any preference. I
The only problem I felt like I faced which might have been user error was a slight agitation with pulling up previously written resumes and trying to forward them to my printer, email or another printable document.
Hi Jeff K.,
We are glad that you found it easy to create resumes and cover letters. However we are very sorry that you encountered an issue pulling up previously written resume to print and email. You can always download the document first using a PDF or MS Word format, saved onto your computer and print it after.
We are very committed to providing great customer service and customer satisfaction, and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously. It will be forwarded to our Marketing Team. Please contact me directly if you have any further issues. You can email me at anna.b@livecareer-support.com
We wish you career success!

Paid for the resume review service, expecting I might get some personalized feedback. This was not the case. The resume 'review' was simply a few sections of stock information that was barely if at all customized to my resume. Things like, use action words, "When it comes to bullet statements, hiring managers want to be able to easily see how you have benefited your previous employers" - all of which did not apply to my resume... A total waste of time and money.
Hi Matt, Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us. We deeply apologize, that is not the experience we want you to have. Please allow us to make things right for you, we are more than willing to help. We will send you a Direct Message to find a timely resolution immediately. Thank you.
Since I have had to redo my resume several times and create a cover letter due to recent job changes and not having knowledge of how to create these much needed documents, I've had to request help several times from the live career staff. They helped me through many questions that should have been obvious but this was not true in my case. They talked me thru and made me feel confident. I thank them and recommend them as they are truly there to be helpful.
Hi Lorraine:
This are awesome news! We are thrilled to hear that you had an excellent experience with both our product and customer service representatives and they we able to help you create your resume. Thank you for this fantastic review and please feel free to contact us if you have further questions or concerns.

Once I paid my $39.80, to save and print out my resume, they wanted another $1.95.
A red light went off - and trying to cancel, there is no phone number, no address, just a very rude 'live chat' person named Jesus.
Carol - Chicago
Greetings Carol H, I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our service. We explain that the subscription is auto-renewing. The auto renewal is listed with the features of the 14 day subscription on the sales page, as well as on the payment and confirmation pages. We also send a payment confirmation email stating the date and amount of the auto- renewal. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone (Scroll down and in the end of the page there a number), live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings.
We are very committed to providing great customer service and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously. It will be forwarded to our Marketing team. I never sign up for "auto-renewing" price scheduling and besides... who needs a service to archive your resume? What these people are doing (their business model) is obvious. Recently we saw fraudulent charging on my credit card which led to these people. The complaints are numerous. I did contact them and the supposedly gave a one month refund... it was a lie as the credit card was cancelled and they have no way to issue one. This was weeks ago and they havent contacted me about a total refund as they mentioned. Do not use this service even for a resume template on what you are told is a one time charge for a few dollars
Hi Carl P.,
I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our service. Please contact me directly with the email address you used to create your account or with the last 4 digits of the card that was billed and card holder’s name so I can take a look at it personally and resolve this issue quickly for you. Please email me at anna.b@livecareer-support.com
I look forward to hearing from you.

Used a great program that was easy to use. It helped me improve my resume by using key terms and also got me call backs from employers and interviews as well. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking to improve their resume for an entry level position.
Javier,
Thanks so much for your review. I work for LiveCareer and we're thrilled to know that you were able to build a resume that's getting results! Best of luck with your job search!
The resume templates are very useful, but beware of their cancellation scam!
I called the customer service rep to explain that I cancelled my subscription months ago, and I asked why am I still being billed? She stated that I didn't cancel my sub. I just deleted my account, (isn't that the same thing)? Apparently it is not, and they are hoping most people end up in this situation.
Looking at the other reviews it sounds like they are making lot's of money... Customer service is horrible... I don't recommend this company!
Hi Geenah C.,
I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our site and did not have the best customer service experience. Deleting an account means you will not be able to access any of your resumes, cover letters, or emails. This action cannot be undone. However, cancellation stops the auto-renewal.
We are very committed to providing great customer service and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously. It will be forwarded to our Product team. They offer you a "free 14-day trial" but if you don't cancel or check your credit card statements, they continue billing you $39.80 USD indefinitely. Their "always available!" phone staff are not available. Emailed them to cancel, wrote them a review to cancel, tried "live chat" but "Live Chat is now closed" and sent them ANOTHER email to cancel, nothing.
No one is getting back to me and I used their service once for $2 or so. As Splashing D commented previously, is this legal? Yes. Is it in their Terms of Service? Yes. Is it ethical? No.
Their profiles might be easy, but don't give money to a company who doesn't hold itself to ethical standards.

Maria Torres was very helpful with finding out the status of my account and helping me cancel it. She did over pressure me to stay on which was very much appreciated. If I am in need of your services again in the future, I'd definitely come back

This website was completely misleading. Make sure to read fine print, because I have ended up with a bill over 100$, when initially i expected to write a free resume. False advertising, and exaggerated claims are the first red flags. Claiming to help "over 10 000 000 people in the Us and beyond". The website claims you resume will be free, after you have finished, it charges you 2$. I chose to pay this, my mistake. If you do not cancel your account after the first 2 weeks, you are then charged 40$. As well as forty dollars each month after this. They did not answer my complaint and refused to cancel my account until after months of billing. The cost of this site is not worth its product.
Hi Leda S.,
I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our service. We take pride in providing effective and valuable career, resume and cover letter assistance to hundreds of thousands of people. Our free account gives you the opportunity to try out our resume builder before deciding to purchase. You can download a plain text version of your resume for free.
We also explain that the subscription is auto-renewing. We state this on every page in the purchase process and we send a payment confirmation email stating the date and amount of the auto- renewal. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings.

They act like it is so easy to cancel you'd be a fool if you ended up with charges. When actually that's how they make all their money. If you call the 800 number like I did you will never get farther then the automated voice message system they just hang up on you and if you live chat with somebody they're only going to draw it out they're going to charge you at least two months no matter what so do yourself a favor like I did call your bank have them change your account number and they can't take any money.
Dear Scott,
Thanks for your comments.
Scott, we did experience some temporary technical issues with our Customer Service number, which were speedily resolved. We apologize if you were one of our subscribers who experienced difficulty during this time.
We make cancellation really easy, as we provide several options. You can cancel the service via e-mail at customerservice@myperfectresume.com, or you can even go to our website, where there is a self-cancellation feature under the “My Account” section.
We understand that you used our live chat to have your account cancelled. An account will not be charged further if it has been cancelled before the 14 day trial period is up. As soon as a subscriber’s account has been cancelled, we do sent out a confirmation e-mail for your records.
If you have any questions with your subscription, our customer service team is available 18 hours a day, 7 days a week from 6am- Midnight EST at toll free 1-888-816-0576 or through live chat on our site. If you prefer you can send us an email to: customerservice@livecareer.com

The experience with Live Career was magnificent. It made the process of thinking so much at ease. The ideas are beyond my expectations. If you do not have any ideas on how to start a resume, especially being in the same job for a long period of time. I highly recommend Live Career website.
Hi Lorraine S.,
We are glad that you had a good experience with our site. We wish you all the best!

The resume writing part is pretty good, but the billing system they've set up appears to be deliberately designed to fool you. Paying a couple of bucks for a resume is a good deal, but they want you to pay monthly membership fees. It says on their site to cancel after 14 days. I read it, noted it, and cancelled -- or thought I had. Apparently it isn't as easy to quit as I thought. Latest credit card statement has two charges for $39:80. I phoned and they removed one of the charges. Be very careful or you'll pay more than you planned.
Hi Barry M.,
I’m very sorry that you have had this experience with our service. A monthly subscription makes it easy for our customers to customize the resume and cover letter for each position for which they are applying, and also to avoid interruption on the service. Cancellation should take place within the 14 days, not after. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings.
We have refunded your account as a courtesy.
We are very committed to providing great customer service and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously. It will be forwarded to our Marketing team. Please contact me if you have any further issues. Please email me at anna.b@livecareer-support.com

Was building my resume and spending a large amount of time and effort without any word about a membership or subscription... Too much work to leave unfinished. Would have liked to know what I was in for upfront.
Hey, Louise
We’ve taken note of your feedback and it’s much appreciated.
We’re constantly looking for ways to provide the best experience for our customers and comments like yours help us do just that.
Mary was most helpful to me today.
My company uses a standard template for resumes so I only need the Resume Now on occasion. When I do need to build a resume, I always go to Resume Now, as the product is fabulous.
Mary help me temporarily cancel my subscription - before she did that, she offered me a discounted rate since I require limited use. I would have accepted the offer if I needed the services on a regular basis.
Mary was very helpful, patient and kind - very nice customer service professional. Thank you for providing excellent people to assist your customers.
I will be back to Resume Now next time I need to build a resume for one of our proposals.
Thank you,
Sincerely - Kathleen
Hi Kathleen,

I am in the same boat as everyone else... Agreed to a one-off $2.95 resume template and was then charged $40.15 (Australian) several months later for an unauthorised subscription. Am in the process of requesting a refund as I did not even use their services as I had problems with the software not saving data correctly. Total rip-off. Stay away!
Dear Michelle,
Thank you for your comments.
We are very clear that when you subscribe there is an auto-renewing feature for which you can cancel anytime and if you don’t cancel your subscription, we will bill you at the monthly rate of $34.95. We state this feature on your payment confirmation page and again give you this information in the payment confirmation email. We also give you multiple ways to cancel your subscription: By calling our customer service, live chat, e-mail or you can even go to our website, where there is a self-cancellation feature under the “My Account” section.
We apologize for any inconvenience if you’ve encountered error in saving data on your resume, but we are more than happy to help. Please contact us as soon as possible so that we may resolve this issue.

Answer: This is what the site advertised: For 14 day access, $14.95, and for a year $39.80. However, signing up for ANY service aloows the site to store your payment information for further billing, and getting in touch with them, much less obtaining help is nigh impossible. After two weeks they will pull $39.80 MONTHLY from your payment method (please see my review and others on Google and yelp for further verification of this).
Answer: Do not use this site!
Answer: I had to cancel my Debit Card account with Bank of America, because the Bank refused to block LiveCareer from my account. I wonder if they are in cahoots or what? I believe a class action suit may be required so we can get our funds back.
Answer: Call your bank and change your card number Call them and let them know you have contacted your bank and will contact the better business bureau of you don't get a full refund. Then contact the better bBB and file a formal complaint. You will have a refund within a week. That's how I got my money back
Answer: Dont waste your time trying to contact them. I went to my bank and had all future billing refused AND I went to the State Attorney General and reported them.
Answer: Hello, Sarah - Thank you for getting in touch with us, our subscriptions are auto-renewing, we have a continuous billing feature that charges your account after the 14-day period and every month for the regular price afterward. However, if you are only interested in the 14-trial and wish to avoid any recurring charges simply cancel your subscription before beforehand. We hope that this helps clear things up for you, if you have any other questions or concerns, please let us know. Best regards, LiveCareer US
