I am overall satisfied with the platform particularly for its coverage. An upgrade on photo quality would be perfect. My biggest concern is there are too many dishonest auction houses. Many of them selling fake products or trying to cheat on shipping cost. Some of them have very bad communication. They don't respond to customers' message even after payments. I hope the platform could have more leverage to manage its vendors.
I have acquired some very nice pieces of furniture and artwork through this website that I would never have had an opportunity to learn about. The shipping is can be a slight challenge but most of the auction houses are very helpful.
If there was a way to return the item that I just receive I Would….

My experience is wonderful over all. But the site could be improved. First you need to get rid of the auctions houses that are rip offs. I've seen 2 of them (one has auctions every day). Then there's the add on costs that I guess go to live auctions? Example: I won an auction for a pretty good deal. By the time the auction house added their part, & another $40 for live auctions & shipping it turned out to be a really bad deal. Here I'll say that shipping varies a LOT from place to place. I've seen it super cheap all the way to super expensive.

I purchased a Afghan rug and a Turkish rug... both have zero provenance... How do I know that they were in fact made in Afghanistan and Turkey, respectively? The one auction house I did bring this up to said they would provide something, but never did. I am a very busy working person, and do not have time to keep going back asking for some kind of proof of origin.
I have won a few things from various sellers, but some of the auction houses shill. It's the same items that no one is watching and I'm the only bidder, yet suddenly sell for a high price then get listed again at a later date.
But when the auctions are not shilled, you can find great deals. I am happy to be a part of this community, and would recommend the site overall.
Overall, I'm pleased with the various vendors, but some are better than others. As to the site itself, I would like to see a more focused search engine. For example, I'm interested in the artist "Richard Hunt," but I get notices not only about him but also any item described has having anything to do with "hunting," which is annoying and time consuming. Similarly for works by "William Jacobs," I get notifications for anything dealing with "William" or for "Jacobs," both names that cover a lot of ground in which I am not interested. I've won some really nice works via LiveAuctioneers, but one needs to be careful and read everything closely, especially each time you deal with a new vendor.

I love being able to follow auctions over North America but the site navigation could be much better. It should easier to get to auctioneers I follow to see upcoming auctions and I should be able to choose whether simply follow my local auction house or collect a certain type or both. At present it's very confusing and as I only on the site intermittently I just gave up.

I purchase antique clocks on this site however I wish they would list watches in another's catagory it's very annoying to have to look through 150 pocket watches to be able to see one clock. My second beef is the price as they are charging. The buyer are getting to be astronomical and absolutely not worth going to the site anymore I've seen prices as high as 33% buyer premium plus they charge you an extra 3% if you pay by credit card and when you go to contact their shipper believe me because they know it's an auction site. They charge you double or triple what you could've had it shipped for regularly. Yes I was getting the point. I'm just gonna have to stop using this site. They need to make some serious changes and cost is one of the most important factors great idea, overprice and poorly managed

The premium was 25% of purchase which is fair but shipping cost WAY MORE than the total of the item with premium. Totally less to buy at Ebay. Then it takes weeks for the item to even ship within the States.

My 3 original authentic Art / paintings which I still own are reported sold on Live auctioneers & with ridiculous low prices... who did that? Why? As of date 3-22-2020 I am the sole owner since the 90"s!
I bid and won two diamond rings. Shortly after purchase I received information they were preparing the items for shipment. Even after getting my credit card company involved due to items not being sent these scammers still have not made good on their promises to ship the item or a refund. Let's just say one month later I still have no rings and all updates from DTLA has ceased. Don't waste your money, there is no one to talk to and sadly you are just sending emails to the universe as they stop responding once your emails become too frequent with questions about the validity of the company due to them stealing your money with no product to show. I am sure there are many people out there that got taken advantage of by these people. Please speak up so others will not fall victim to this fraud
They deal with unethical auction houses. They offer no customer support-except placating emails. I recently won an item, was very clear that I wanted signature delivery-and was shipped without signature delivery or insurance. The package is lost and I'm out the full amount.
They are also clueless regarding fakes and make minimal to no effort to enforce. Selling fake antiques across state lines is a federal offense.

Beware. Liveauctioneers "top rated" ranking of an auction house is almost worthless. An auction could have over 15% negative commentaries from customers (often remarkably negative experiences or unethical, unprofessional, incompetent or amateurish practices) and still be "top ranked". We have had several such bad experiences with a variety of auctions that are supposedly "top". We will not repeat business with such auctions. READ all the one, two and three star commentaries before doing business -- and realize there are undoubtedly many MORE disappointed or angry customers who did not take the time to report their bad experiences. We continue to do business with auctions who act ethically and professionally; there is no shortage of offerings for one to spend money and acquire fine items -- just do it only with those who earn trust.

Avoid getting tricked by Live Auctioneers into using their shipping program after paying your invoice!
After winning an item on 6/1/2024 and paying my invoice in full, I believed my order was complete. However, on 6/7/2024, I received an email from Live Auctioneers stating, "This email is to inform you that the technical issues we had wherein LiveAuctioneers Shipping Option is not available during checkout have been fixed. We truly apologize for the inconvenience. Kindly retry your payment, change the shipping option to Shipping by LiveAuctioneers so that it will generate the shipping fee/price under Shipping Method and it should go through successfully this time."
Worried that my item might not ship if I didn't follow their directions, I clicked on the provided link and re-submitted my payment. I later learned from the auction house that this was a baiting tactic by Live Auctioneers to push customers towards their shipping method. This ended up costing me $53 to ship an item valued at $125 and weighing less than 1 lb, with a delivery time of over two weeks.
When I contacted Live Auctioneers for a refund on the shipping, citing the misleading nature of their email, they responded by pointing out a note at the bottom stating, "If you have already made other shipping arrangements or have plans to pick up, feel free to disregard this message," and refused to refund my money.
As a frequent customer who spends significantly on their platform, I expected better customer service. Based on their online reviews, it is clear that Live Auctioneers prioritize their profits over their customers.

We watched an item in the live auction, then left. Hours later we got a notice we won two hideous items we would NEVER buy. We immediately told the auctioneers because we knew them from a local auction 15 years ago.
We reached out to LiveAuctioneers.com but their Philippine reps did nothing to resolve our issue.
All computer transactions have trails that can trace a crime. They're ignoring our requests for administrator resolution.
They also sent out an errant invoice after we paid for shipping but left that off the receipt. They have yet to respond to our requests to correct my receipt.

Simply the easiest way to keep track of auctions and items. Their alerts for specific items I want is a life saver! Never leaving! Such an eclectic variety of valuables and things of interest. I cannot imagine living with out them now. They connected me with family heirlooms I would never, ever have found without them. Seriously.
Their prices of Their coins up for bid is WAY out of bounds. Don't use the red Book prices, use the Grey sheet, much closer to what you get when u sell, plus they charge 25% over hammer price plus shipping. Go to your local coin store. Try and you will see what I am talking about.
Live Auctioneers allows art dealers/auction houses to sell paintings with the flimsiest of provenance to inhabit their website and hold auctions. I have had two issues with them in the last four years. In fact, each time I have dealt with L. A., there has been a problem. I would not use their service. I would strongly suggest working with the auction houses directly, and you will (as a bonus) typically pay a lower premium. But you can also have a better sense of where the art comes from. If you want a third party platform, use Invaluable.
