I ordered 3 Antilles Pink Toe slings. When they arrived I was immediately turned off by the fact that whoever packed them in their little vials was not careful and pinched one of the slings legs under the lid, causing it to arrive distressed and with one leg missing. When I reported this to Josh's frogs there was no offer to send a replacement, no offer for a partial refund, just "it'll be fine." The second of the three has failed to thrive, refusing food and eventually getting too weak to move and dying. I tried to get in contact with support to find out what I could do to help this little sling survive, all they said was "it looks like this was from our partner network, we'll forward your concern and get back with you soon." But... You guessed it! No one followed up and the sling died 3 days later. When I reported the death of the sling they have completely ignored me, so I guess their whole shipping guarantee is a bait & switch to make more sales. So yeah, of that order of 3, only 1 came in good condition, one is dead, and the one with a missing leg is touch and go; it's eating very little and will only accept very very small pre-killed prey. I'm very glad to have learned this lesson about how Josh's Frogs operates on these relatively inexpensive tarantulas and not on something $100+ I tried posting this review to their site, but to no one's surprise they refuse to publish it - they only approve positive reviews. Very unethical people.
I ordered 2 geckos and 4 poison dart frogs, I have a beautiful vivarium, the frogs are thriving but bot my geckos are dead. Maybe way too young to ship? I don't know but I was very disappointed with joshs frogs support and resolution. Just keep that in mind before you order from them.
Not a good experience. First and foremost I drove from 2 states away almost a 14 hour round trip drive. I came to pick up 2 Yellow Terribilis. One was severely defected, of course they packaged the frogs in shipping packaging so I couldn't see and recommended not opening until I got home. Here I am 6 months later and I'm wondering what is wrong with this little frog that just won't grow and looks much different from his "bigger brother" at this point. I ended up getting the advice of Alex Menke a very experienced breeder and keeper of darts and he said that the frog is in fact severely defected, and probably needs euthanasia. So I contacted Josh's frogs and let them know, I had to call customer service 4 times and send a text to get an answer. I was told to send pics of both frogs and the current setup. My setup was fine and I received a response back that said the frog was definitely "severely defected" and they also immediately tried to divert blame to the "shipping company" mishandling them saying they wouldn't let something like that slip by. Obviously not remembering that I drove 14 hours from two states away to avoid any and all shipping lol. I then showed them pics of the frog literally moments after coming out the box already with the same severe defects and let them know I drove to avoid any mishandling. Brandon the rep then took accountability saying that they must've let it slip by somehow, which really I just took as him getting caught in a lie and trying to cover. I was also told that I could not have a replacement because they have none to offer at the moment and none in the future because they have "no breeders" currently. I find it interesting they would sell their only yellow terrib breeders... unless they knew there was something wrong with them or they were producing bad babies in the first place. They then offered a refund and claimed to send it back to a card that I do not even have anymore (without authorizing it with me) and the account has been closed out well over 8 months so I'm confused as to how they are even claiming I paid with that card, I paid out of an account ending in 3027 and they are showing they sent a refund to a account ending in 6977 which like I said is a card I used with them previously but was closed out over 8 months ago now. They are now basically telling me that I am out of luck, and to call my credit company, who is telling me if they sent it to a closed account it will either go back to them or it's gone. I have one good frog, one gimpy leg severely defected frog, no in store credit or replacement and apparently will not be receiving a refund. Horrible experience all around, all I asked for was a replacement or in store credit.
I have ordered quite a few times from here and the first shipment was fine. 2nd seemed like they shorted me on Dubia roaches. I ordered 500 more and half were dead. They did replace it but still lost quite a bit but not as many. My last shipment was lost and they replaced it but definitely wasn't 100 and the little bit they sent around half of those were dead. I will not be wasting anymore money here. I guess paying extra at a local place is worth it since you get better quality.
I received a sickly frog unfortunately, covered in white bumps which apparently were a fungal infection, I took pictures and videos and emailed them immediately and I never heard anything back, so disappointing.
I ordered a honey blue eyed whites tree frog in October and received a brown/green frog. They exclusively advertise yellow honeys online and on the site listing, and then send you a green blue eyed that would usually cost about $100 cheaper. It's a scam! I've included photos of the yellow honeys they advertise vs what I got!
I ordered some insects for my vivarium and of course both packages show up with nothing but dirt in them. I would post the picks but i just threw the dirt in the cage. I tried calling the number and it sounded like I was just listening to the audio in my room. Idk whats up with these people but i wish I would've read the reviews first. I need my money back!
I ordered 500 crickets. They arrived 3 days early, which is great. Out of 500, maybe 50 we alive. After opening the box and dumping them in, i saw the devistation. After removing the dead, im hopinh my isopods jump into overdrive to eat all the missed parts. My 3 year cricket terrarium was demolished by trying ordering online from joshs frogs. They shipped with absolutly NO ventilation. The piece of potato they shipped was the size of a half a crayon. I will NEVER order from any online company again. 3 years of work destroyed by a complacent company. Also, they sent a heat pad with them to arizona! Thankfully i didnt order the live critters i wanted.
Josh's Frogs used to be good, but their quality has sunken into the pits of you-know-where. They sell plants in 4" pots that could easily fit in a 1" pot in order to charge you more. The plants are often half dead when they arrive and never seem to fare well. They are never very well established plants and are essentially cuttings that they have sold to you at full plant prices. Many that you receive will be root bound and won't be able to be saved.
Their customer service will cancel orders without notifying you and won't allow you to get the same deal once they restock even though it was their error in inventory that caused the issue. Also you are unable to review products on their website, which is highly suspicious.
I am a snake breeder and once was a vocal supporter of Josh's Frogs, back when they were quality. I almost applied for a job, but they're in a very crappy part of Michigan that I'm not interested in (maybe the toxic water is why all of their plants die). Later, I was in communication about selling them some of my baby snakes. I am very glad that I did not. Something about how this company is run nowadays rubs me the WRONG way.
It sucks but really, Josh's Frogs and NE Herp are the only options for safe plants for reptiles. I'll still have to buy from Josh's Frogs, it is the only option. If you have to purchase from them, you MUST order during a sale otherwise they have highway robbed you for their crap quality stuff, which is just co-packed from Ken's Fish and other vendors with a huge markup.
I ordered 250 house fly pupae and about 150 of them were hatched. Why not make sure this doesn't happen and charge the customer accordingly.
Every light I had tried to buy from them is shattered. Then you have to use your own money to pay to ship them back.
Unfortunately, I'm stuck ordering from Josh's Frogs, since they are the only place I've found that carries house fly pupae, but as soon as I find a reliable alternative, I'm switching vendors. Every time I order from them (monthly, btw), it takes days before the order actually ships and when the insects get here they are short counted (often by more than 75%) and usually 95%-100% DOA. It takes at least 3-4 reships before I get anywhere near 1/2 of what I originally paid for, and that's only if I keep the few living or barely living insects from each subsequent reship. My latest ordeal was a nightmare! Overnight and 2nd Day Air should not result in a 75%-95% death rate in 72-75 degree temps, especially for Orange Head roaches, BSF larvae and Wax worms. And housefly pupae should not be hatched and rotten in the 24-48 hours it takes them to arrive on my doorstep!
First time getting dart frogs! I was very happy with my purchase. They came on the scheduled date, the packaging they were in was amazing and well insulated for their safety, and I even got some promotional gift cards I was not expecting! The two frogs look full of color and were active as soon as I let them in their new home! Very happy with this purchase and recommend for other beginners as well! Thank you Josh's Frogs!
Was supposed to receive my order in 3 days. 9 days later had dead crickets in my lockbox and was only notified a day after they were delivered apparently.
I ordered an Exo Terra enclosure online. I put the order in late and they still managed to get it out first thing in the morning the next day. Shipping time was very reasonable. I had my doubts on it because the enclosure was made of All Glass. Then I opened it up and it was in perfect condition. I checked all companies for the same enclosure and this company was $140 cheaper than everyone else. Even with the shipping added in I still saved almost $100. I would have no problems ordering from this company again.
Ever since getting into Pac-Man frogs and reptile/amphibian keeping in general, I was under the impression for a long time that Josh's frogs was a good, reputable company that offered all kinds of animals, feeders, and equipment. I found out yesterday that I was sorely mistaken. I attended the North American Reptile Breeders Conference in Schaumburg, IL. I knew beforehand that Josh's frogs would be there, and went to their stand as soon as I got in the door. The second that I looked at their Pac-Man frogs, I knew that their quality of care for these animals had been awful. Out of the roughly 150 Pac-Man frogs in containers on the table, over half of them had issues caused by improper care. This includes metabolic bone disease of varying severities. When we asked about them, we were showed the i written on the containers standing for "imperfect". We were told that these issues "would not impact their quality of life" (a lie) and that some frogs "just morph out like that (another lie). We were also told that those frogs would be discounted. My boyfriend and I are prone to purchasing frogs that we know have disabilities or MBD and rehabbing them, so we bought four frogs total. Three of the frogs had some level of MBD. The frogs that were "imperfect" did not even end up being discounted. After having the frogs for maybe an hour, one of them slumped in its container and was unresponsive, clearly toxing out. We were able to bring it back to consciousness and being okay with a few water changes, but we very nearly lost our brand new frog. The frog then proceeded to have a seizure. Pac-mans should not tox out within an hour if they were put into clean water, and the severe level of MBD that this frog had can lead to seizures. This level of neglect from Josh's frogs is disgusting, unfair to the frogs and the customers, and a clear indication of where exactly their priorities lie: the money. You can get better quality Pac-Man frogs from Petco for $20 each. If you are considering buying from Josh's frogs, save your money because it will likely be wasted. If I could give less than one star, I would.
I had an issue with a product I received from them and I called and spoke to a representative. I have dealt with them many times over the years and this is the first time I got a product that was a little bit less than I was looking for so I called and spoke with them they and replaced it immediately. This is a great company to deal with they stand behind what they sell and that is pretty rare these days.
Lost packages or late sending out … never again they use to be good at one point but now your waiting forever for two day shipping
I ordered fruit flies from here I also paid shipping. I never got them. They blamed mail service. No refunds.
We order on the 9th, shipped on the 13th and got our order on the 20th. Spent about $60 on bugs that are all dead. We had to hold onto the dead bugs to send photos and that took 2 days. Not happy and won't be using them again.
Answer: The phone number will never be answered no matter how many times you call, but the email usually works
Answer: Legit totally. I am a satisfied customer. Two hundred dollars well spent.
