ID.me should be seen as a possitive, a protection from unknown security risks. For some, the poorly described, and executed, application process seems more of a hindrance than a help. I fear many will find it another government imposed hassle rather than something to truly protect their interests.

Taking a picture of a drivers license, and a Social Security card to me and transferring it through video, is unsecure. Whether they say it's secure or not. Too much opportunity to be stolen. Third party operation. There are other ways for identifying an individual.
