ID.me was really the only option, unless you want to spend countless hours on overseas calls without a certain outcome.
I had some trouble with legit docs being rejected but realize ID.me are holding a high standard to verify. Eventually it all worked out, but lack of commenting is the only reason I did not give 5 stars.
