Very poor internet slow speeds and throttling your speed down at night. Hidden termination fees that even if you transfer your account from one state to another they set you up on a two year contract claiming early termination is 250.00 dollars. Monthly 90 dollars for bel I w standard or even advertised speeds. Very bad business would never recommend hughesnet to anyone.
HughesNet is the worst internet service ever. Started to Buffer. I sometimes I " Please Stop Buffering!"
Must stay away from HughesNet! Not fast enough!
I didn't want a phone service but the Rep told me that I had to include it in a "Bundle". In 6 months the phone service went from $10 to 30 per month. Now since I have a contract I have to pay to date $170.00 to remove the phone. The phone does not work if the internet is down powered by a satellite.
Internet is slow and I go thru 30 GBS in 2 weeks, and I'm not streaming TV. Only my husband and myself playing games a couple of hours per day.
We live in a rural area so we made sure yo ask appropriate questions. Number one being is it going to allow us to stream movies. School work etc. I was told by both the person on the line and the man who installed our satellite that it would run 5 this not a problem! This internet doesn't even run 1! It is terrible everytime we call they say we have gone over our limit which is impossible since I'm using my Hotspot on my phone for absolutely everything and am stuck in a 2 year contract! Customer service is absolutely no help! There have been times when I have called and have had NO SERVICE, box not working and have been met with the same b. S. we've gone over our limit. Let me repeat that is impossible! It won't even run my printer! Terrible service, nothing but lies from the company and their advertisement. I don't know how they stay in business. And not to mention the ugly $#*! cords ran and hooked up down the FRONT OF MY HOME NEXT TO MY FRONT DOOR. These people need to be shut down honestly.
Hughes Net internet is very slow and not at all dependable. When I call to cancel my two year contract they give me the runaround of sending me to a service tech. He does a speed test and tells me I'm getting less then 2 MBPS of service and then transfers me back to an operator so I can cancel. The operator then transfers me to another tech who does a speed test with a hughes net test site and that shows I'm getting a 30 MBPS of service and that I can't cancel before my two years are up. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS SERVICE WITHOUT ASKING REAL PEOPLE THAT ARE HAVING SUCCESS!
Hughesnet does not provide fast internet. I had problems with service, telephone service not working 50% of the time and spent alot of time on the phone trying to solve problems. One rep suggested I unplug my computer when not using it to stop the phantom usage of my data. Even when you pay for more service, the service did not change. Expensive and poor service. Also, I tried to leave a review on their site and they would not recognize my email. Therefore NO POOR REVIEWS! CT Sullivan
Misrepresented the cable speed. Lied about product. Blamed slow speed on my phone, but new phone didn't corre t problems. They sent out a service technician and he said satellite dish needed minor adjustment. Didn't fix problem which has been associated since installation. HughsNet charged my credit card $125 for the service call without my approval. This was never discussed because the problem had existed since installation. HughsNet refuses to credit my credit card. Said I could just use the $125 up with monthly fees.
The tech support is the worst type of robbery ever. After paying 199.99 the tech spend many hours trying to set up a new computer, but messed it all up instead. We had to hire an expect IT person to clean out all the damage and fix it. When cancelled and ask for a refund I was told I was only entitled to a $50.00 refund because I had used their service. Paying to have someone clean up the mess that they created is terrible. I am paying $150.00 for NOTHING.
Warning - do not fall into the same trap. Avoid this service like the plague.
I cancelled and returned all items in the box they sent as indicated to discover I was billed for the radio: Which I know was in the return box. Customer service was not helpful. Apologetic. I did not need the apologies. I figured an employee misplaced it or something. Then they had the nerve to send me a review of Customer Service without solving my problem. Will not recommend this service to anyone. For the years I have worked with other companies this us the first time I was billed for items return. Tm
I had no idea this Hughes Internet could be this slow after the speed that was promised before purchase. And my VOIP phones will not work with it as well. Another faulty service! Unbelievable!
Worse thing I have done in years. We moved to an area where internet is limited and this seemed to be the only option. Four adults in the house and three use a large amount of data. I was assured we would have more than enough speed and data for the four of us.
In short, they lied through their teeth. We can go through 50 Gig in a few days. The extra 50 between 2 am and 8 am can get used just as quickly. I could not come close to watching a streaming show. Still can't. I have to monitor the usage constantly to avoid the extremely expensive charges for additional data.
Their customer service is useless and rude.
In short, don't do it.
If you try and find real reviews for this company you'll find yourself constantly pushed toward Hughes net patting themselves on the back.
Being in the middle of moving, buying a house and selling a house I couldn't really focus on researching these creeps. At the moment it will cost over $600 to cancel them. Disgusting bunch of thieves.
I've attached a picture of my router as proof of having a severe case of stupidity.
The service was poor and what's even worse is when you cancel because of that they charged me 175 and then on top of that they charged my card 3 months later for the equipment I returned, so they continue to rip you off even after you are no longer a customer I'm still fighting with them almost 6 months later to get my money back for the equipment I returned!
I work from home their service did not work for me so I cancelled, two months later they charged me for equipment they did not install it was already here when I bought the house and customer service supervisor did not care.
I had a 2 year contract with HughesNet, After it ended I called to cancel and spoke to a HughesNet employee who told me I needed to send the equipment back. I asked what besides the modem. He said that is all. So weeks later I get the box, pack up the modem and promptly send it back. 3 months after I cancelled a 210.00 charge shows up on my credit card. I call them and was told I had something called a radio box that I did not return. I told them that I did return what I was told to return and I have no knowledge of this radio box. I have filed a dispute because Hughes would not help me. I can't say enough bad things about this company and how they handle sales, support and ultimately contract end. From charging me 210 $ and deactivating my account immediately so I could no longer log in and look at the bill.
I had Hughesnet put into my boyfriend's house in NC for when I'm there visiting from another state. The internet service was horrible from the beginning. We could only use it up till about 5pm and then it would buffer. We couldn't stream movies or videos, nor could we do a simple Google search. We don't even use a third of the data given on the plan and in that one year have never come close to going over. Then to top it off when my boyfriend recently died from covid they would not let me cancel the contract. I live in another state and already have Internet service. I sucked it up that I am locked into a two year agreement, so just to get away from this company I chose to go ahead and pay the early termination fee of $235. I now have to drive 3 states away just to get the equipment ($200+ charge if equipment isn't returned) out of the house before the family, who also live in other states, goes through probate. Stay away from this company the internet is horrible. I don't know if they've oversold what they can handle, but do yourself a favor and don't get locked into this nightmare!
This internet is so bad. We moved to a rural area that did not have Spectrum. We decided to go with Hughsnet even with all the bad reviews. They advertise this wonderful internet it is not. It is so slow if you want to watch on demand or Netflix forget it. You can rent your equipment or buy it. We rented it, something happened to the equipment and they were going to charge us $125 just to come out that is not heard of with any internet company I have had in the past. We cancelled it and paid their outrageous fee. We have a different internet now not satellite it works great. I can watch Netflix and on demand now. I have never written a bad review before on any company so this has to be bad. I hope this helps you make a decision.
Spotty service, over priced. 400 early cancelation fee. Spent over an hour on phone trying to get help and kept getting sent to someone else. Stay away from this company.use someone else
I called hughes net because my inter net connect conection was locked up by a scamer who tried to get money from me. I wish i had never hooked up with hughes net. I am a very unsatisfied customer. I do not feel i am recieving the service i paid for. I am a senior citizen who lost eveything during a flood on june 23, 2016.my home was destroyed.and i had to relocate. I left my home town after 30 years and relocate to handle my brothers estate. I am on a fixed income. So i wanted affordable service. But i do not feel that i got what i paid for. In my opinion hughes net sucks with the losey service they provide.
My satellite internet was supposed to be at least 25 mpbs, as I was advised for their business service. Most days, I did not even get close to that. Sunny days, I still only got 3-6 mbps. Trying to cancel, I was given the run-around, and kept getting transferred with no resolution of my issue, wanting to cancel. I was advised of an $800+ early termination fee, and when I signed up through AFPC, in WI, they never told me it was a 2 year contract. I am stuck paying for a service where essentially I am not getting the service I was promised.
We have internet w/HughesNet for 24 months. Would have liked to cancelled sooner but did not want to get penalized so on the day our 24month plan was up, i called to make sure they cancelled our service and to see if i needed to do anything else. By the way we purchased our equipment so nothing had to be returned. I got a confirmation number of the cancellation and everything was fine. They said i would not get any more autopay charges. That same day i got our normal billing charge taken out of my checking account. I called the very next day to dispute and they said i should have called a day before my contract went out. That is not acceptable to me. I have already contacted BBB and will see what else i can do. Even when i called to dispute and was on hold listing - operator said my last payment date and then it told me when my next payment was due.? What? Next payment, when i got on the phone the guy said yes i see you have cancelled, well if you see i cancelled then why is it telling me when my next payment is supposed to be due.
Answer: Horrible. And, even if you reach someone to question the throttling and buffering issues, the response will be, "I can see that you have multiple Rokus connected to your system!" I may have a couple of televisions in my home, but I only watch 1 at a time. This company may understand the concept of customer service but, they do not deliver any. They continually sidestep complaints.
Answer: No, I do not believe there are any in our area since this Kansas company continues to throttle there services and delivers the services through antiquated equipment!
Answer: They promised high speed internet service "within a week" and we were in a time crunch. Plus their prices seemed reasonable until we realized you basically got NO service without upgrading to the top tier ($125/month)
