I've called and asked Hughesnet to stop mailing me so they canned my name to resident. No I want all my info deleted STOP mailing me and I called 6/25/2024 to ask to stop mailing me and remove my info but every time they asked why I said I have Starlink and will never use them again they would hang up on me. Like really making me calling over and over just asking to stop sending me mailings offers or anything. So I wrote a complaint on BBB and they tried calling me but it's an automated service so they haven't stop or confirmed they would oblige my request. My info was all there you don't need me JUST STOP MAILING ME CALLING ME OR HARASSING ME!

How are you still in business your service is slow and not worth half the money. Your customer service sucks horribly you're not a company I'll ever do business with again.

Scummy company.
March 8, 2024

The company is pretty bad and their internet connection is not any better. After random fees, we end up paying $200 for internet advertised at $105. We supposedly pay $200 for 25+ MB/s speeds. I commonly get less than a mb of download on a very regular basis. The other day very late at night, I had a peak of 50 KB per second. Not Megabytes, KILOBYTES. WE pay $200 for that. I have also seen people complaining that HughesNet will cull your bandwith and remaining data when the wifi isn't being used. Evil company

I cancelled my service in November and unplugged the system. It was unpowered and DISCONNECTED! IN December I received an alert that I only had 3% of data left and I should purchase tokens. Total scam. Makes me question how many times they did that to me and other people over the years.

I can tell you that when my father-in-law died and we turned off his internet service, they acted like they were helpful and sent a box to return the equipment and gave us a very reasonable amount of time to return it, compared to dish network. However, THEY DID NOT SEND A LABEL even though the instructions and the website said a shipping label is included! We called and were told that we could take it to any UPS and they could send it out "as is".

WRONG! The UPS Store said that many people had come in saying that exact thing and that UPS did not have a contract with Hughesnet. What losers! If you aren't going to pay for the return shipping, don't pretend you are! Just be straight forward about it! They didn't even provide the address to ship the equipment to (of course not, they want $500) so I made the guy on the phone spell everything out letter by letter because I couldn't understand what he was saying when I called to tell him what we discovered about the LABEL SCAM! He didn't even try to deny it, by the way.

After reading MANY other reviews, I wonder can't help but wonder, if his bank accounts hadn't been frozen, would the money would have been stolen from him anyway, even though we sent everything back? We ended up going to the post office & paying $25 (money well spent!) to send it insured for $500 & with tracking info. The day after USPS showed it had been delivered his online Hughesnet account login no longer worked & the profile on their community that I was hoping to use to warn other customers with COMPLETELY disappeared! No acknowledgment of thanks or anything! If we hadn't been told able the LABEL SCAM by the guy at the UPS store, we would still be trying to play their game & waiting for a label thinking they were legit.

Do Not Buy
January 26, 2024

This "Internet" service is akin to 56K dial up WiFi from the 90s. And by all means, do not try and contact customer service because you'll be waiting for over an hour consistently to simply get hung up on when someone does answer the phone. Further, they will not allow you to cancel due to their $600 cancellation fee. The only services that require a contract these days are predatory services that are well aware their services are subpar. I would rate this a 0 but that is impossible on the site.

DO NOT USE THIS INTERNET! You have been warned! They should be fined and shut down for false advertising. This is horrible internet. I have issues from the beginning and it has never gotten any better. I get a few hours a month of so-so service and then it's gone. It slows down to the point of being utterly unusable. They blamed it on my computers and smart TV's and PlayStation! NO $#*! that's why I have
Internet! SMDH ridiculous!

If I could give zero stars I would. I went with Hugh's net cause it was the only internet company to service my area. We had it for less than 2 months. Service was horrible spent more time buffering than anything could watch tv for a solid 2 minutes and would buffer again. Was not informed about a contract when first signed up nor a fee for not returning equipment. When I called to cancel still did not tell me about being charged for cancellation and the lady I spoke with wanted to argue with me about canceling my service. Today I checked my bank and they had pulled out money when service had already been canceled months ago and had been pulling out money and refusing to refund since the cancellation. When I called they refused to refund my money and said it was a valid charge for me canceling. Be careful going through Hughs net

November 6, 2023

We had hughesnet for 6 years because we live in a very rural area and had no other choice. We call to cancel and that went ok so they send us a box to send their equipment back.We did that via UPS like it said.Got a bill from them for over $300 charging us for equipment we already sent back. Please avoid them at all cost.We now have starlink and it's wonderful.

HughesNet earns the title of the worst ISP with its agonizingly slow speeds, a data cap that vanishes in the blink of an eye, rendering it a deceptive promise. Rain transforms your connection into an intermittent ghost, leaving you without internet for an entire hour. Add to this the routine router resets due to unpredictable connectivity woes, and you've got a service that consistently disappoints.

The customer service representative wanted to read a sales pitch when I called to cancel. I explained that I was at lunch from work and just wanted to cancel my service. She hung up on me after I had to wait almost 30 minutes before talking to her and being passed around to different representatives. I would not ever recommend this company to anyone and I would go without the internet before using them ever again.

We had service with them over 12 years. The name on the account was in spouses name. Called to change the name on account and they didn't after saying the did multiple times. Then after 8yrs of the deceased has passed we get told they cancelled our account. Then the took our payment out auto pay which we set up. Then canceled us. We were told they would reimburse us the payment they took out within 7-10 business days. We still haven't received. Called back today to see what the hold up is and we're told they haven't processed yet because we didn't send equipment back yet. We were told we had 45 days and just received the return box. We then were told to send equipment back, then call back with tracking then additional 7-10 days they will process. This company is a joke. Get the damn run around every time we call. Don't get me started on the amount they aren't returning. I'm looking into calling a lawyer to sue because the company sucks and always takes money they say is owed not the customer. I will never recommend them ever!
