Went two years with poor service finally cancelled service. Charged me for not going on the roof to return dish to them. 219.00. They said then that they would come and remove but at this point I don't trust them - They would probably damage my roof which would cost me more than 219.00. I would just rather be done with them. Beware in ******* zip code. Do not use their service.
They don't help you at all they just want your money I told them to turn it off and send me the box and return my money but they didn't want to hear about the last thing but when I hung up on them they tried to hit my account with a $219 bill but we told our bank to block all there tries to get money so don't I repeat don't ever use them they con artist
This company is soooo blatantly dishonest---they 'sell' you the notion that they're looking out for the customer's best interest, however, notably "... cannot include in their e-mail confirmation the deal..." they're offering. Hence when the next customer service person comes along there is absolutely no indication of what was offered/promised to you in a previous conversation.
They charged me $110.00 to get out of a contract I never had, an on top of that were okay charging me for an entire month of service when they were only providing 5 days of service for the billing period.
We signed up because we live well outside of town and don't have many options for internet service. I was hoping for good service and ease of use but got just the opposite. The speed was very slow and non-existent most of the time. When we called to see if this could be corrected, they only wanted to sell us a higher priced package. We agreed to purchase the higher priced package, but nothing changed. We called again only to be told that we needed an even higher priced package. We didn't need all the bells and whistles, just basic internet so paying hundreds of dollars was ridiculous when you are on a fixed income.
We have since canceled the service and because it is before the contract expires we have to pay a cancelation fee eventhough we tried working with them to get better service at a decent price.
Please save yourself a headache. They get you to agree to 24 months. My wifi was sketchy from day one. The tech told me he hadn't done this type of work I'm a long time. It worked a few times. Then winter happened. Snow and rain. I haven't had wifi in months. They keep scheduling appointments for a tech to come fix it. No one shows up. Yet, Hughesnet takes my money, every month.
Look for a better more reliable solution. This Hughesnet is a Huge rip off.
HughesNet is the ABSOLUTE WORST internet service in the U.S. and their customer service is worse than their internet speeds! Too slow to watch or download short videos, constant freezing during video calls and very slow speed when accessing websites. When I tried to cancel, they "reminded" me I signed a contract and would have to pay almost $400 to cancel - even though they did not hold up their end of the contract with actual high speed internet. I was on the phone for 27 minutes (mostly on hold), then they asked me to FAX my power-of-attorney letter since the account is in my father's name. Who has a fax machine in 2023? The PoA seems a little extreme. We are not selling classified secrets, we are trying to disconnect from a very unsatisfactory internet service. Terrible experience, would NOT recommend.
Paid for service that only had 2G instead of 5G then my service was shut down from a transmission problem on their end they want to charge $200 to restore it. They are in breach of contact and after 4 hours on the phone I have a cheap solution. Get a new debit or credit card number and they can't charge you anymore. I am going with US Cellular for $25 a month less and my cell phone is faster with them than Hughes Net on my computer. Thanks for the opportunity to post
Constant buffering loss of signal it absolutely sucks! We are disconnecting when contract is up!
We live in Montross.
HughesNet did a direct mail campaign in our area.
We tried their highest package.
It was horrible - too slow, overrated, & undetectable especially for teleconferencing.
Nice people but they should not advertise in this area.
I sent the equipment back & they did not even reimburse me for it (it was purchased up front)
It's ashamed that they offer a service that is slow and terrible. Called several times to try and fix it with no results. When I called to cancel they wanted to charge me $300 for cancellation fees. They lady I talked to just kept talking over me and wouldn't let me talk to anyone else. The worst internet and customer service. The T-MOBILE Wi-Fi works soo much better in my area. Stay clear of HughesNet.
I no longer have Hughesnet. I did have for over a year because spotty quality service and excessively high costs. I paid an additional fee to exit the contract earlier. Satellite was unfortunately a technologically inferior service to cellular phone service... period. I went with a cellar internet provider with vastly faster and higher reliability. In addition the cost of service went down to $50.00 per month from far above $100 monthly for inferior service from HughesNet.
There are a number of cellular internet providers now available to choose from. Recommend evaluation your service options before making a choice. Additionally the company I went with didn't have long term contractual obligations. Shop around.
Hughes charge an outrageous fee for service cancellation even as the system has never worked as sold. Customer service are courteous but they try to charge for a service that has never been used. Surely a scam.
Customer service has been an absolute nightmare. We moved and the gentlemen I talked to refused to cancel our account. He insisted on suspending the account, which I did to end the conversation. Salesman guaranteed a $300 rebate which I never received. I proceeded to talk to a lady about the situation and it sounded like she was at a highschool party. Many people screaming in the background and it made it very difficult to understand her. The most unprofessional company I've ever experienced. Please, learn from other people's mistakes and stay clear of these people.
The promised down load speeds were never met so I called customer service after using the system for 6 weeks. I was told for the satellite to work at "advertised " speeds, that you need 10 miles of clear visibility, ( this was never told to me during the sales phase…. Customer service was nice but very redundant in their answers, very scripted and carefully worded…. Overall a frustrating call, they told me to call back when there was 10 miles of visibility and then they could run a diagnostic scan to tell me if anything could be done… If you are thinking about buying this, DON'T… Their might be some cases where this works but I would guess that Hughsnet is just trying retain customers
The worst experience EVER! Multiple calls on the crappy internet service and the customer service team barely speaks English so after being on the phone for over 45 mins all 8 times, I ended up just hanging up out of pure frustration. And when you try to cancel, you have to fight them just to cancel your service. Hands down, the most horrible experience - from all aspects
Just SAY NO! It's not worth the Hassel & they don't provide services they claim. It doesn't work & they are full of BS
$130+ I'm paying for the slowest most unreliable service I've ever used. Problem is, they are ONLY commercially available service where I live. They don't tell you that can't use cell over Wifi. So I got a landline through them (another $20/mo.) It drops calls left and right even when I'm in same room as modem. Their upload/download speeds are insufferably slow! I put in an order for Starlink last October, waiting for them to roll out now. When it goes in I will drop HN in a NY minute and I will NOT honor my 2 year contract, as they have not lived up to their advertised promises. They can sue me and lose.
Go to cricket cricket has a hotspot that gives you about 100 gig and about 75 Mbps. It only cost $50 a month and if you run out of 100 gig high-speed you can buy blocks of 20 gigs for an additional $15.
Your service only works 1/2 the time but you want 100%of your money. What a rip off. But you have us by the balls cause we live in the middle of nowhere, and can not get cable. I could write a review eveyday but i dont have internet every day because we use you. Realy wish you guys could do your job and give us service, i mean we have to pay you no matter what. I have to say to you go to mc donnalds and just throw money at them and drive away with no food. Well thats what you ask of your costumers.
Our father passed away unexpectedly from Covid in December 2020, our elderly mother was moved from their lifelong home in October 2021. My sister called in and cancelled their services at that time. Our mother passed away unexpectedly in November of 2022 and all of her credit cards were cancelled.
Today we received a collections notice for the Hughes.net for services that had been cancelled 16 MONTHS ago.
We have been on the phone with their representative for well over an hour and not only will they not refund the STOLEN monthly charges, they are asking for their equipment back.
This is beyond sick and illegal.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!
Answer: Horrible. And, even if you reach someone to question the throttling and buffering issues, the response will be, "I can see that you have multiple Rokus connected to your system!" I may have a couple of televisions in my home, but I only watch 1 at a time. This company may understand the concept of customer service but, they do not deliver any. They continually sidestep complaints.
Answer: No, I do not believe there are any in our area since this Kansas company continues to throttle there services and delivers the services through antiquated equipment!
Answer: They promised high speed internet service "within a week" and we were in a time crunch. Plus their prices seemed reasonable until we realized you basically got NO service without upgrading to the top tier ($125/month)
