I have had the service for these thank two days and it is not at all what I was told or promised. Worst when I went to cancel for 30 day no risk I was told that I would have to pay a $400 cancellation fee! Stay away from Hughes.

As bad as Century Link is, I was amazed how terrible HugesNet is. They charged hundreds of dollars to install the satellite. The service NEVER worked well enough to watch a movie or play a video game. CONSTANT buffering, like every few seconds. I complain several times, to which they say they can fix it, do fix it A LITTLE. Then, on the 31st day they tell me that satellite can't do video games or movies like, what was I thinking? But, then I owed them $400 to get out of the contract. They took the money DIRECTLY FROM MY BANK ACCOUNT. What the absolute $#*! HughesNet. More like HugeSackof$#*!Net. Personally, I hope the CEO of this scam company falls into an open sewer and drowns

We called 4 times. The first agent had a solution that sounded reasonable. We tried to problem solve. The next 3 agents had different stories. I feel like this company uses false advertising. I can't work from home? It says I can...that's why I bought it? No live streaming? I wasn't told that by anyone at anytime. The Google reviews were right...the service is terrible both customer and actual internet. The web surfing was awful, 10 seconds between pages...if they even opened. Just a joke. I should have trusted the 1000s of awful reviews.
Now I have to go on my roof and take down a satellite dish? Ridiculous. 30 day satisfaction guarantee is a lie. Do not trust Hughes net. You will regret it.

RIP OFF
September 8, 2023

This company is a total rip off! If you try to cancel your service they don't ever cancel it they just put if in some kind of suspension and then hit you for a whole new contract after multiple people there tell you that it is cancelled. Then they just hit your account with charges even though you cancelled 6 months ago and was assured that no need to return equipment. Now they want to charge 250.00 to cancel your contract that you never started and want to charge you with the equipment as well. DON'T GET STARTED WITH THESE PEOPLE THEY LIE AND WON'T TURN YOUR CONTRACT OFF!

If you, as an internet consumer, have to choose between no internet service or Hughsnet...then I guess Hughsnet is all you got. Good Luck...I live in an area where there is no other service providers. At first, I was glad just to have something...but didn't take long for the frustration to begin. They love to tout "high speed internet service" but believe me it is anything but "high speed". Netflix is probably the best streaming service you can get. They came from a time just after dial up internet...any of you veteran internet users know how slow that was...and Netflix made it work by buffering the data...it is sad when Netflix won't even work on Hughsnet. I knew when I got Hughsnet that I couldn't play my playstation on Xbox online...but let me tell you that when you have to wait three days just for an 800Mb update to download... you'll start to think nothing might have been better... especially when you pay $112 a month for a 50Gb plan. Ahh but let's not forget the disclaimer...25Mbps speed, provided that "there's not a lot of internet traffic"...and your not using it during peak times...(trust me, even at 3am...it still sucks) and you only use it on days that don't end with the letter "Y". I am usually a very positive person and I actually feel bad about having to write this review...but really...if you just want to read the news from your Google home page...then this is for you...even my Alexa works a little sketchy with this...I wouldn't recommend Hughsnet to anyone unless it is the last hope of reaching the outside world.

Good lord help us
September 7, 2023

I seriously don't understand. I guess I definitely should have read the whole contract, because they don't explain anything to you, including the fact it's a two-year contract. When they were cheap and it took so quickly to get someone to come to install it, I was impressed. I was not satisfied with the quality and speed of this internet and when it rained it wouldn't even work. I am moving in an urgent manner and not only is the cancellation fee almost 400$, it takes a whole month for someone to come uninstall it. I know its heinous of me to post something like this, but i just feel like if i was an old person this would be a million times harder and people need to know that this company pulls the wool over your eyes.

Slow, slow, slow
August 24, 2023

We had HughesNet for about 2 years. It was the only internet we could get because we are out in Amish country. Everyone we contacted said they needed so many subscribers per mile before they even come down our road. The Amish don't even use electricity let alone internet. So we got HughesNet. We didn't know how to change the password, one of our neighbors kids kept stealing our Wi-Fi signal. Since we only had 5 GB he used up most of our internet before we could even get to it. Once you use your lot of data they slow it down so bad that you cannot do anything. We finally changed our password, but we still didn't have enough data. You did the most simple things and it would use up all your data and then it would be so slow you can use it. Don't even try to watch a movie with HughesNet all you will get is buffering, buffering, buffering. We finally got CenturyLink and there is a world of difference. We only have 5 GB with them but they are cheaper than HughesNet, and if they do slow it down we have never noticed it.

HughesNet has terrible service. They will lock you into a contract and it costs $400 to get rid of them. Just bite the bullet and get Starlink to begin with. At least you will have coverage. Don't even get me started on the trash customer service HughesNet provides either! While they are robbing you for a subpar service and telling you it's your fault and you have to pay more, you will get gaslighted and still have to switch. Beware! This is not the internet you want to pay for.

I was kept at 15 GB per month and even these were very slow. After 15 GB I was slowed down to 3 to 400 kB per minute. We often had no internet service during rainy or cloudy days and sometimes if it was too hot the internet would go out. Once I refound a reliable replacement I was paying 1/3 the price of only $40 for the better service as opposed to HughesNet charging me $120 to $140 for their ridiculous service. I will go without internet before I choose them again.

Worst service ever
August 22, 2023

I've never hated an internet provider more in my life. Service is slower than slow. I feel like I'm using my mobile data more than anything. I regret getting the service. Most of all I think it's sad that I was never told about a contract and yet when I called to try and cancel...I was told I couldn't because I was stuck on a two year contract. I think it's wrong to lie to consumers. When I initially got it I was never disclosed about a contract and the installer never told me about a contract. Nor did they ask me to sign for one. I will continue to let people know NOT to get this service. Hughes Network are good con artist though.

The internet is slow and a lot of times just doesn't work. It cost $100/month to be spotty at best. Terrible service. I lived in an area that had no other internet providers and they take advantage. They make you sign an absurd contract for 2 years even though most leases are only a year and situations change. They have zero compassion for why you may need to cancel and charge a ridiculous cancellation fee. I wish I could go back and never sign that stupid thing. The customer service is terrible and they just spoke over me instead of helping me solve the problem. It's crappy businesses like this that put a terrible taste in my mouth. Do no use them if you aren't forced to. The "supervisor" sounded suspiciously like the employee I had just been on the phone with. I spoke to a man six months earlier and he told me if I suspended the service for six months they'd be able to wave the cancellation fee for me because I tried to transfer it over. The "supervisor" said the guy didn't say that and she listened to the recording. I would NEVER use this service again and I will NEVER recommend it to anyone.

Not worth having

We have had this service for a long time because there is no other service available to us and we pay $100 a month and can't even stream YouTube on one phone most of the time makes it easy to feel totally ripped off.

The worst
August 9, 2023

This is the worst internet service I've ever experienced (outside of 56k dial up). Get Tmobile or ATT broadband. Do not sign up for this service. Plus, they penalize you for cancelling. Yuk.

Worst internet ever
August 4, 2023

The customer service people are rude and acts like they know everything. We have been straight up lied to multiple times. Called them one day and we had to speak to the supervisor (he was also very rude/maybe not have been the actual supervisor tbh) and he told us one thing when we called back again the next day (because the internet still wasn't working) and the technician told us something totally different. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. They also add extra fees that we already asked them to take off our bill once (they will add them back). They also took away all of our data and said we went over our data in two days and it was the beginning of the month (we only got to use it one day and it still was not even working then). They say they are a good internet company but why no internet connection? Overall "great" company. (do not get internet services from here). I'd give them no stars if i could. Have never felt so lied and disrespected in my life.(you will waist two hours of your life sitting on the phone with them just to get their help and still absolutely get no help from them)

They are a scam
August 3, 2023

Hughes net Internet is a scam. They tell you you're getting one thing and you don't get what you're paying for or what the contract says. They continually tell you that you need to upgrade or put new equipment in or pay for a larger plan or 1 million other things so they can get more money yet. Nothing changes. Their customer service sucks because their customer service are taught to continue to tell people they need to buy more of their product to make something better and nothing improves. When you terminate your plan, they charge you more. They also will do their very best to make sure that you don't get credit from your bill for the previous month if you didn't use their Internet the whole month. Spread the word and stay away from the scamming businesses, who think it is totally fine to be dishonest in all that they do.

While setting up my service you could hear the employees all talking inappropriately. They spelled my name wrong no matter how many times I spelled it out. They offered me a service and in 5 days I used the highest amount of GB offered. When I called them about this, their answer was to unplug every device I have because it uses GB even when not in use. Even when I was not over my usage, the speeds are poor, unable to even view websites. You can buy tokens to increase your speeds, but they do not offer larger plans. Poor service, the internet is a joke, and if you want to spend $$$$ and get nothing in return for your expense, this is the company for you.
