Tried to cancel Hughesnet after several years of slow, sometimes no service but it was the only game in town for a while. They came out several times, cut a few leaves from a tree and nothing improved. Spent hours trying to cancel and two weeks later, no box to return the equipment. Called when I got a text saying my payment didn't go through…not trusting them I told my credit card not to send another payment. So now I'm told the first cancellation never went through. On top of it all, if I don't find a way to climb the pole to get something off the dish, it will cost me $100 to have them do it. Rant over.

You will be highly disappointed and you will be charged for services you don't receive. The rep Alice hung up on me and refused to give me a cancellation. Someone who knows how to get in touch with corporate please respond. I'm definitely wanting to sue at the point. They had a class action suit in 2009. If there is anone who knows how to track these people let me know!

Do not get Hughesnet
August 20, 2022

HughesNet internet is unreliable and their customer service is poor. My internet never worked properly but the company wanted to charge me $250 to get out of the contract even though they had never provided proper internet service to me. Don't try speaking to a supervisor if you have a problem they always unavailable.

Robbers for sure
August 18, 2022

Worst internet ever! Wasn't working well right after installing and I called at least 3 times to get it fixed. The lady told me to upgrade my speed, so I did and nothing happened. I canceled my service and waited for a box to return the equipment and it never came. They then thought it would be nice to charge me $300. When I called to complain they hung up on me. Everything about this company is a scam!

Sorry to say this is the most pathetic net company I've ever had to deal with in life. You will never get what you sign up for from this people. Why should someone claim to provide a service that they are unable to deliver and get you, through some sweet language locked up into a long contract only to just extract money from you regardless of whether you quit the contract due to poor service delivery or stay in it for the length of the contract? When you contract with this guys be also prepared to learn how to be a technician because the day you don't feel like you like the service and want to opt out you will have to climb your roof or any other high corner that the previous installation tech would have installed the dish with tools in you pocket to retrieve the signal radio yourself which they usually together with other pieces want shipped back to them.if not they charge your account a ridiculous amount of money. If perhaps you are unable to perform this task and prefer a technician from their own company to come get it, again back to the wallet you pay. This is quite a horrible experience despite the fact that people payout quit an amount through out the service period.no one should have to go through that. If your service is poor own up to it, rectify it or quit providing it.

Less than 1 star
August 5, 2022

It's unfortunate that Hughsnet is the only internet available in the area I live in and certain they take advantage of that. I've had the service for less than a year and they've already increased their prices without notice. What sucks is you don't know there's a price increase until they take it out of your account. I have 10 GB service which is the lowest price at $78 a month and I go through that within a week. Hughsnet needs competitors. I'm praying for the day I can get Verizon internet.

Horrible experience
August 3, 2022

We have had HORRIBLE experience with Hughes Net. We lived out in the country and needed wifi. We got it through Hughes Net and the guy that set it up was very respectful and polite (the only positive). We had service for 1 year and had problems the whole time. Internet never connected to the servers properly (contacted them 3 times for this), each time it was OKAY for about 2 weeks. Once we decided to move and cancel services they did not send us the proper box with information to return our equipment! (This was after we paid a fee of $265 to end our contract early. Fast forward to July they took $321 out of our bank account for the nonreturned equipment. I called and explained everything to them, I was told they would send me a new return box with new paperwork and I would receive a full refund. The returned equipment was delivered to them yesterday and today I am being told I will NOT be receiving a refund because I am out of the day limit to return. I asked to speak to a manager and have been on hold for 50 minutes now. 10/10 DO NOT recommend this service company!

Worst internet service out there
July 24, 2022

More often than not I can't get an internet connection. When I do it cuts out. No one can hear me when I make a phone call. Zoom is impossible. Totally worthless internet. I'm better off using data! And it costs almost $100 a month. Do not use this service. Try getting a Hotspot through your phone provide. Works 100% better.

HughesNet 24 month contract canceled at 18 months in my vacation home due to not being able to deliver 25 Meg service as contracted. I was charged $160 cancellation fee for internet service that never performed when needed. I hardly used the service in 18 months. 80 bucks a month for nothing. Do not use this sham service.

Complete Scam
July 12, 2022

Service quit working right after the installation service guy left. Asked for repair, never returned my call. Cancelled my service the next day. By then Hughes Net had piled on almost $900 in charges, then added a late cancellation fee. I put it in dispute with my credit card company and they agreed. The Hughes Net disputed my claim, and I had to document all my actions, emails, phone calls, website services. Finally I got a full refund after a 3-month struggle. I filed a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission, and that got their attention. Then for the next 2 years I keep getting a monthly bill for a late cancellation fee, $400, even though I cancelled within the 3-day window. Took me two hours on the phone to finally get that billing cancelled.
As far as I'm concerned, the outfit should be put out of business. Their billing department is almost impossible to find, so here is the phone number: *******270. All other numbers listed are sales #s.

Crappy company!
July 12, 2022

They don't even deserve 1 star rating, I would give them 0 if I could! The service is terrible! I can't even watch a video all the way through without it stopping to download. Called to cancel my service for moving and Madison kept trying to pause service for 6 months. Said she would send me return modem shipping label to my email. I called to see where it was and they insisted on my new address to send BOX with shipping label to me.Not only did they want modem and cables but the RECEIVER from my dish on the ROoF! Said it was 200.00 if Receiver was not returned! This was not mentioned at all when installed! After dealing with Ryan Davis the Irate Customer service rep he finally told me he could set up a time for a technician to come and dismantle it for 100.00! Please DO NOT EVER do business with Hughesnet or you will be out alot of money and time! What a nightmare this company has been!

We live were you can't get cable we were forced to get hughesnet. Every time it rains it goes out. It isn't good enough that you can zoom meeting with it so when it went out last week we figured we could get rid of it. Called to tell them we were told that we had the old system of 3 g and they would send us the new 5g system. What they didn't say was they signed us up for a new 2 year contract. When the new box came and didn't work we called and was told they would send out a tech for 150 dollars. When we called to cancel the service we were told we had a new contract and would cost us 400 dollars to break and if we didn't pay it we would be sent to collections and they would destroy our credit. Now we are stuck with a system that sucks that we have to pay for and we're told that they have a legal dept that would make sure we paid it. I have never been with a company that held you hostage. I wish I had never even heard of this company what a bunch of crooks. Buyer beware stay away from this company because once you get with them you can't get away.

They will lie to you and tell you it's truly unlimited, it's NOT, then once they've put you through the old bait and switch there's no getting out of it without paying them a considerable amount to get out of a contract? Seems illegal and also haven't we gotten away from companies holding customers hostage for a piss poor service instead of offering a quality product? Hoping to see them bankrupt soon... Karma! Also after paying to get out of said contract you get to do their work for them and climb on your roof and disassemble their dish and return so they don't charge you any more... WTF... SMH
