Many reviews highlight frustrations with unclear bidding processes, unexpected fees, and a lack of responsiveness from support staff. WHAT THE HECK!
February 5, 2016

I have been the high bidder on a property at least 4 times (same property)... They keep raising the buy it now price... I called the number on the site, thinking I was calling Atlanta, Georgia.
Stephanie McCall is listed as Broker on the web page for this property.
After talking to this guy on the phone I asked him where he was and where I was calling.
He said "Manilla" I rest my case!
How do these people get away with this.

Not honest
November 9, 2015

******* Maple Chase Dr Boca Raton, FL ******* was just sold for $450,000 however no where does it mention there is an $80,000 golf membership that also must be paid for plus restaurant fees and HOA dues. When I called to ask they had no answer. What out for them they are did not mention the $80,000 to trick a bidder.
Another house I was the high bidder on I found out the pictures of the kitchen were before they were removed. They are not honest and beware so you do not get ripped off

First off, make sure you understand that your "bid" may include a premium (e.g., 4.5 percent of the bid amount for the bank-owned property I bid on) that significantly increases the amount you ultimately pay. It essentially is the entire real estate commission being shifted to the buyer. Hubzu does adequately inform you about this amount before you submit your bid, but just be aware. Second, for a bank-owned property, the buyer is accepting all the risk regarding a property's condition/defects, so make sure you view the property and get a home inspection before you buy. Third, beware the auction process and the manipulations that occur. For example, I "won" one bidding session, but the reserve wasn't met. So all the bidders were given a chance to submit their "best" bid with the bidding starting at what was obviously the reserve price ($50,000 higher than my winning bid). No problem--I had essentially made an offer and it was rejected. However, the next two Hubzu auctions for this same property suddenly terminated with hours supposedly still left for the auction period. Then I get emails notifying me of some high mystery bid being made, but that I could still submit a "back-up bid" with the bidding starting at (you guessed it) the same reserve price as before. In other words, don't expect to get a bargain in the auction process. Lastly, if all the other complaints I read are true concerning how difficult it is to complete a sale and deal with property defects, you're probably better off if your bid is not successful..

Never EVER Again
October 18, 2015

Sadly, I read these reviews after I made an offer. AltiSource is the company that was suppose to be the seller's closing agent. They rejected my closing agents deed five times. It has been over six months since we closed on that transaction and the still haven't paid the unpaid sewer bill.

If I said that they suck, I would be complimenting them saying that there was some level of performance. Given a choice of dealing with them again or the IRS... an audit does look so bad

I really need to give this site a zero, I was suppose close on my transaction for 6 months now. The house has been broken in three times since my offer. The listing realtor is some where in GA, the title company they hired no clue what they are doing. They are in a completely different country, no one answer calls, email... please please do not waste your time on this site... complete fraud... someone need to shut them down, the listing realtor is some where in GA doing business in NJ, with a GA number. They need to be looked at.

If I could give this site no stars I would. We placed a bid on a home won the auction and tje bid was over the reserve. They said they were doing the paperwork and would contact us within 5 day. Never received any call or notice. Aftet a week or so we decided to reach out to them to see what was going on we were told they were still doing the paperwork and would contact us soon. So we waited a little longer only to find out they had put the house we had bid on and "won" back up for auction with a higher reserve price. This site is a total rip off! Untrustworthy! Don't use this site! Wish there was some way to have it shut down..

OMG!
March 24, 2014

OMG! My first and last experience with this place. Firstly, they lure you in with what seems to be great deals on foreclosed homes. Then when you read the T&C's and the "Sample" Purchase Agreement, you know you probably need to run. But, if you are a person that works hard to check things out, you begin to think that maybe you will be ok on a purchase. So, ok, you run around and waste time and money getting documents and think you are ready. Next thing, you try to get your bid in and WOW, to place a bid you have to choose between cash and financing. Guess what! If you choose cash, they insist on naming your attorney and title company, and if you say, well heck I don't want that -- then you change it to financing, and on the next screen you have to fill in all the details about who you are choosing, down to the color of their fingernail polish. All this to place a BID, which you know will probably be exceeded in the next second. Stay happy -- don't do it! Gigantic waste of time and effort!
