I filed my taxes at Cloverdale mall in Toronto,Ontario. After I received my assessment, I went back to ask questions because the amount was much lower. The manager,EUN, who is not even an accountant, was upset because I did not book an appt. She was rude and screamed at me in front of all the other customers. She claimed that I was accusing her while I only needed an explanation about the ammount I was recevied, it was a $#*! show.I am Very upset with the HR block services, never go back again, terrible experience, she also pounded on the desk. HR software faulty---I used last year and this year and when they transferred data their software made error to IRS---I have both printed from their MYBLOCK and 2023/2024 data 100% correct. So after paying for a online adviser they are stating its the IRS has the wrong data--so I showed they transferred the data and they verified my data was correct---but they charged me anyway and still said I had to fix wiht IRS---what a horrible company
Over the past few weeks I received two separate brochures in the mail from H&R Block touting 5 different tax prep software products: Basic, Deluxe, Deluxe+State, Premium, and Premium & Business. I need the Deluxe version (as I used it last year) because it has the features I need, and the program is federal only, no state return where I live. The brochures advertise the Deluxe version at a sale price of $36.95 and direct you to the website hrblock.com/taxprepsoftware. However, on the website, only 4 software products are shown; the Deluxe version (without state tax program) is nowhere to be found. Calling H&R Block's software support at *******288 leads to multiple rounds of frustrating communication with an idiot robovoice, who finally agrees to connect you to a human being where, after 5 minutes on hold, your call is disconnected. I will never again try to use H&R Block.

There is no way you can teach a person on the phone. There are no receptionists so it's like you submit your documents into an abyss and hope that someone gets back to you. The manager Osman Mohammed is unprofessional. He only knows how to raise his voice and hung up on customers face. He needs to be fired. I developed anxiety trying to get my taxes done this year and now they have all my documents and I can't even get them back. This is unreal. Don't go here
That is a truly impressive solution for managing taxes! I am myself quite a cautious person, trying to comply with all the rules the government imposes, so paying taxes is quite mandatory.
With their mobile application, it's very easy to manage taxes, pay them and be an obedient citizen :)
It doesn't take a lot of time to sign up, to understand how to interact with the mobile application because the interface is intuitively clear and navigation is very straightofrward. Thanks developers for this service!
First off, don't even think about getting their service. I have first-hand experience where tax preparer told me to file an incorrect amendment resulting in couple of thousand more in taxes to state. They didn't even accept the fact that she was mistaken and didn't refund the money.
Overall, I can fully vouch that this is a fraudulent business practice with zero damns about customer while charging hundreds of dollars in legal fees. Not recommended at all.
Chat function does not work. Customer service number dropped me 4 times while on hold. After 2 hours I finally reached customer service and was transferred to software support because the CS rep could not answer my question. After transfer, the recording estimated another 50 minute wait time.
Customer service always wanted to argue with you about your money, and often refuses to help you altogether. They get their jollies off of being bullies, and treating you like you are dumb.
I have had several unauthorized charges, and they WON'T do anything about them. I am being told, "I cannot contest the charges."
It's my money! Don't tell me I can't contest the charges! Your fraud department says I can! Often get off the phone crying because representatives are so incredibly rude. As soon as I can afford it I am taking my business elsewhere. 10+ years of business with them. I'm done being treated like this.
Major glitches in the software and the inability to file my state. Incorrect information was also imported from the previous years. Their customer support is non existent and unconscionably bad. It has been over 8 hours over the past few day and counting and still no help. I am put on hold for over an hour and then the call drops. When I reach someone they give me a case number and promise that an escalation team will call. They don't. I 've been waiting 4 days. When I do get through to an escalation team myself after hours of waiting they put me on hold and then drop the call. I cannot file my taxes I am going to have to get turbo tax and start from scratch. Never again. Their customer support is non existent and unconscionably bad and is dangerous because the bugs in their software can cause problems for you with the IRS
The costs have doubled since doing the same taxes last year- and this was surprise revealed AFTER investing 3 hours painstakingly entering all my info; was hit at the end with increased costs and additional fees for being "complicated"- but it was the same as last years (and not that complicated). Student and social media self-employed here.
So, unethical surprise "gotcha" billing, but additionally, my "pro" Christine Ruiz never addressed my concerns or answered my questions before hurriedly finalizing my return, leaving me to just hope I correctly did all the parts I felt like I was fudging- then had ignored all subsequent messages. It's been 7 days with no reply. Utterly professionally unacceptable and disappointing considering what I've paid.
They make it sound like you'll file for free by using their website, but the deeper you get into the process the more they start adding fees for the most basic services other companies provide for free. They don't give detailed descriptions about what they're asking for and use strange wording as an attempt to get you to upgrade to one of their tiered human services. Basically offering bad service hoping you'll give up and pay even more. Terrible.
My dad got an IRS notice that he owes $26,000 on a return H&R Block filed. I've left 3 messages and haven't received a response! No one answers the phone! Impossible to reach! I'm beyond angry! I'd have my taxes done somewhere else!
H&R Block is yesterday's tax news. It's just not worth it anymore. Better to use Turbo Tax or another really cheap online tax company. Or get a real CPA if you have complicated taxes. Hopefully our lousy government will reform the tax code so we don't need these stupid services anymore.
Just got ripped off by H&R Block, paid $455 for simple tax return, year ago I paid $120!
After 30 min going thru my paper work she Quote me $406.00, two min later it was $455 and denied $406! H&R are Con Artist! Never again!
My husband and I have used H&R Block for many years. The one year 2018 that we did not get it for 2017's return they made a mistake that cost us $2200. 00 in July 2020. You're better off with Turbo tax or some other tax preparer. Steer clear of H&R Block!
There were strange duplications and I racked my brain trying to correct my mortgage interest entry after it was entered in as access mortgage interest and then was being counted twice. Also every time I turned around they were adding costs. Even to transfer my refund into my bank account. The fees started at $35.00 and ended up $177.00 and I did all the work. Never again. After 27 years of using H&R block I will go with any other program next year but this one.
The person doing g my taxes could not get my refund to go onto anything but the emerald card. You can't use it like they say and I am very upset. To top it off he screwed up my taxes by over 1000 dollars. I have never had a mistake like that elsewhere. When I called the woman that answered said oh well it is your fault for not giving us the right info. Really? Most awful experience ever.
I have been using H&R Block for twenty years. This years on-line version is an atrocious disaster. We paid, and filed, my wife was sitting next to me. I used to be a network administrator. It did not work and we only found out when not understanding why we didn't get a return. On-line help is useless and now, wanting to print my return seems impossible. Please avoid this software at all costs. I really hope a class action lawsuit opens up because I'm in.
